Beautiful lake in Custer State Park. Restaurant onsite and kayaking with rentals.

Nice little stop in the heart of Custer State Park to use the restroom, grab a snack or full meal, but a souvenir or take a break next to a beautiful small lake. There is also a nice beach or kayaks available. While I was there, a bison was grazing directly across the street, near a campground entrance.

Stayed in cabin 25. Found the cabin full of moths. Killed more than 30 in the couple days there. That's just unacceptable for any place you're paying for. The couch was too uncomfortable to use. The ceiling fan hasn't been cleaned in years, good thing we didn't need it. My wife found the bed to be too hard, but it was fine for me. Other than that everything worked.

Cabin is full of moths. Have killed dozens, and keep finding more. They appear each evening when lights are on inside the cabin. They must be getting in from somewhere, We kill them as we find them, but bby the next night, there are more. We will never stay here again. For the nightly cost of these cabins, this is unacceptable. The couch is pretty uncomfortable. Dining chairs are hard metal. More like outdoor patio furniture. Very disappointing. We have stayed here several times before, but cabins have really gone downhill since our last stay. Good news is that there are now good choices in Custer, and the park is right next door. No real advantage to being in the park accommodations, and rates in Custer are far less.

They discriminate towards single diners. Not nice or right. I was first in line and was told I would have to wait 10-15 minutes for a seat so he could seat everyone else behind me. Not my problem you don’t have a bar or cant accommodate single diners. I will not return to this restaurant.

Have been going to Custer St park for over 50 yrs, until this trip I had never stopped at legion lake, very glad we did, good gift shop, took a great walk around the lake, scenic, different, high recommendation.

Do you enjoy killing moths? If so, Legion Lake Lodge is the place for you! Every night we stayed there we got to kill between 20 and 30 moths in the room. Stay here for moth killing action! Cabins are thoroughly infested. Room was also not that clean. Great location though. Could be great once they get their moth problem sorted with better housekeeping.

We didn't stay here, but ate lunch here. Had a twenty minute wait, food was over cooked, the wait staff never checked on us. Service was awful.

The Bison burger was super filling and the craft beer was cold and flavorful. The view of the lake is an added bonus!

Short staff so had to wait to be seated for lunch though there were many empty tables. Lake view was nice but too many flies

We rented 3 cabins at Legion Lake for our annual family vacation. This was the first time staying at Custer State Park. I will say the staff is warm and friendly. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating. The service is a little slow, so don't be in a hurry. We were on vacation so that was not a problem. The food is very good. We ate here 3 times! And with 10 pp I think we tried almost everything on the menu. The store is more of a gift shop, so don't look for milk, s'mores kits, bread or forgotten items here. The Lodge itself is well maintained and clean. (note many flies when eating-wish they could do something about those both inside and outside). Now to the cabins-the setting is lovely and the views beautiful overlooking Legion Lake. All are in walking distance to the lake down hill there, uphill back. Unfortunately, they are not well maintained. Galena Cabin at check in, the closet door was off, the one of the toilet seats was broke and several lights did not work. Also, of note we could not check in on time because the cabin was still being cleaned. At 4:40p it was "ready". One of the bathrooms was not clean, the floors not sweep or vacuumed. Also, with the view you think they would clean the windows at some point. How did it pass inspection to be turned over to new arrivals is beyond us. We cleaned the bathroom ourselves. We did ask for the items to be fixed and they never were during our stay. One of our cabins #5 had an outlet in the kids room with exposed wires, and the hot water knob didn't work in the shower. My son, fixed the outlet and shower knob so they could shower each day. Over all the cabins are nicely furnished, roomy, they supply all the towels, soap, dish soap, trash bags, and pick up your trash as needed, but in need of much maintenance.Legion Lake had great amenities that we all enjoyed-fire pit, hike around the lake, kayak rentals, fishing, swimming, lovely sand beach.
