We stayed one night before the Custar St Park Buffalo Roundup. The room was very clean and the staff was very helpful. They even had breakfast snack bags for us since we would be leaving before their regular breakfast time. Very impressed with the hotel.

Good value for money. Rooms clean and spacious. Overall, the property is a bit older, but the rooms have been renovated. Basic breakfast with toast, sweets, Kelloggs and yoghurt. Staff very nice. Unfortunately there is no elevator. You can reach the center of town in 2 minutes by car.
Rooms: Clean and spacious. A bit dark. Rooms are renovated. Refrigerator available.
Nearby activities: Museums and other activities in Custer, Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse, other activities in the Black Hills.
Safety: Safe area
Walkability: The town center with shops and restaurants can be reached on foot within 15-20 minutes.
Food and drinks: Breakfast very basic with coffee, juice, toast, packaged sweets, Kelloggs, oatmeal, yogurt, omelet.

No daily room service and if you are not the first to eat breakfast you might not get much. Staff were excellent on check in.

Clean and well maintained. Breakfast was respectable for a hotel of this class. Staff was most helpful. Custer is a great location to explore the southern Black Hills.

If you have accessibility issues, STAY AWAY! No handicap parking (which I think is actually a federal and state violation), booked double queen room and requested first floor because of accessibility issues.. they DOWNGRADED my room to a single queen. I didn't need a handicap room, just one on the main level since they have no elevator for the second level.
Also, if you value your safety, DO NOT STAY HERE! NO locks on the windows on the ground floor. Seriously?? A small wooden dowel doesn't provide much security.
Breakfast selections are a joke.
Hotel smells of mold when walking in, room was just as bad. Had a horrible headache the entire time my daughter and I were there.
Rooms: Rooms smell like mold. Carpet is filthy.
Safety: No locks on our ground floor window, just a thin wooden dowel in the window track.

The hotel was clean, staff was very friendly and location was perfect for anyone wishing to do a lot of touring. It is quiet because it’s not in the middle of town however, the town is not that far, it’s pretty much walking distance for someone that likes to walk. It is also close to all the tourist sites, parks, monuments and caves. This hotel is two floors and does not have an elevator however, you can ask for a room on the lower floor. The pool and hot tub are open late, and the laundry room was always open. I was traveling alone and felt safe there no matter the time. Very pleasant stay.
Rooms: The room was clean and spacious. My window was in the back of the building, overlooking a rock cropping, which I thought was great. It was quiet, especially being in the back with no road noise. Maid service was available when needed, they were very pleasant. Front desk staff was great.
Nearby activities: Custer state park. Jewel cave. Wind cave. Black hills national forest. Crazy horse monument. Mt Rushmore. Sylvan lake. Needles parkway. Stop in any of the visitor centers, the Rangers will guide you along. They were amazing and I was able to see everything I was looking for and more.
Safety: I felt very safe going through the parking at any given hour. Also felt safe in the room and corridors.
Walkability: The town isn’t far, I’d guess less than a mile.

The room was very neatly prepared and everything was clean.
Unfortunately, for us Europeans there is a lot of plastic at American breakfasts, which always takes some getting used to. There was nothing wrong with the completely adequate American/continental breakfast. It was continually updated.
