We stayed here in 2010. We have reservations to return this May. Looking forward to it. Great location and service.

It was a great camp ground. Lots of fun stuff to do. There was a wasp next on the window screen and slight tears on the window. So they kept getting in. We ask if it could be removed. We were there 3 nights no one ever came. My husband on noght tqo finally took care of it, because it was right next to where the kids were

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves during our stay. We stayed 5 nights and didn't have enough time to do everything in the area. It is smack down in the middle of the black hills and an excellent base camp to go visit places like Deadwood, Mt. Rushmore, Custer, etc. We are trying to plan another trip when everything else is open at the campground. We went after labor day so not everything was open. I didn't feel crowded; we had one of the sites close to the front.

Stayed in a cabin for a night in the off-season, this place definitely seemed like a fun campground in the summer! Perfect location for exploring the hills, yet there was enough to explore on the campground if you wanted a day to relax! Most things close after labor day, so you can get a low rate in the off season!

We chose Palmer Gulch KOA due to the proximity to what we wanted to do in the Black Hills. We booked 7 months prior to our 4 night stay, . so you would think we'd get a nice spot...but oh no!!! We were stuck in the middle of the hullabaloo! We will not return to this campground. Sites were very tight and barely enough room for the RV and truck. We had to park on the grass.Hot tub was just warm and jets did not work.

Such a great family friendly location. You are close to a ton of attractions the Hills offers as well. Has a great selection of activities to do from mini golf, pools, slide, play areas, jumping pillow, fishing and more. Highly recommend for families!

The most peaceful part of our stay was seeing this KOA in our rearview mirror as we drove away. I’m not sure why they felt the need to re-gravel and regrade all the roads of the campgrounds while it was packed with guests, but the rumble, beeping and crashing of construction noise could not be avoided and often extended beyond 5pm. Nothing peaceful about it.

It’s located on a hill close to Mt Rushmore. It can be a little tricky if you are using a street motorcycle. Most of the place is hilly with rock rosds. This is a KOA resort and they live up to their name. If you need it, they most likely have it. From restaurants to a bar, fudge, pizza, ice cream and even horse rides. Rest rooms and showers where very well maintained and that was a wonderful surprise. If the roads where not so hilly/rocky, I’d go again. I still give it top rating because not everyone has my particular requirements.

This is a beautiful campground and from what I was told the second largest KOA in the country. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. There is plenty to do for the kids if you have them. If not the campground can be quite restful. Also, with the campgrounds location you are only minutes away from Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and the Needles Highway. Our visit was in September, so the campground was not crowded. I imagine it could get a little crazy mid summer due to the campgrounds capacity. But that is pure speculation on my part.Nearby activities: Mount Rushmore, Crazy Horse and Needles Highway

Spots were small and unpaved. We were parked right next to a dog park. We dont have a dog and had to smell fecees the entire time. For the money i expected more. We were scheduled to stay a week and left after 1 day to find another park. We ended up at Crooked Creek rv. Only a few miles down the road and an excellent park.

Management was kinda rude and snarky. We had a few issues that eventually were resolved but definitely a pain in the *** until they got resolved. This place is huge. Too big. RV sites are one on top of the other. No space at all. No privacy. Business center is there but there is no real working Wi-Fi. Actually there is no Wi-Fi or reception anywhere in the place. We stayed at another place just 10 minutes away as well and had mostly full bars and Wi-Fi at the other place. They say it’s the mountains but the other place was in the mountains too and phones worked fine. The water slides/pools/areas were awesome. But hot tubs didn’t always get hot.All in all, not likely going to stay there again.

I'm sooooo glad we are here just after they shut down all of the games/activities/rentals etc.. nice and peaceful now but I imagine a few weeks ago was very noisy and busy with kids etc...alot of flies and wasps right now for some reason. Very good proximity to Mt. Rushmore and Crazy Horse. Nice general store although the other stores were closed for the season. Got dinner from the Peak restaurant on site one night and it was good. If you have kids I would come here before everything closes on Labor Day.

I wish I could say good things about this campground because it really is a cool campground. Unfortunately, the way it's being ran is terrible. First, I booked 2 full hook up sites for our friends and our family. We arrived to find out that we did not have full hook ups. They told me it was a "computer error" and offered no apology or compensation. They said "it has been happening a lot lately". So I am a business owner, wouldn't you think that if it's been "happening a lot", you would figure out the problem?Secondly, we extended our stay by one night. We went up to the office and paid for the extra night. On the last day, we moved to our spot, got all set up and a guy drives up and says, "I'm supposed to be in this spot". Apparently, they double booked our spot, so we had to move to a different spot again. Again, NO apology from the manager (who was standing right there in the office) or compensation for our troubles.Like I said, I wish I could say good things, but I just cannot. Someone needs to buy this place and run it correctly. I'd be interested! :)

Absolutely the best. It's location seemed to make everything 15 min away. The people are great and my day was not complete without a wave from Ernie on his way by escorting another happy glamper. The only negative is most center area RV spots lack shade. Ours had plenty so I felt sorry for some of the other spots. This is easily fixable with a trip to one of the pools.

I can't say enough about this KOA what a great time we had here.the Rodeo was my first rodeo ever and I loved it.we rented a car to drive around the area right at the camp grounds. This made our trip a 10. Service was amazing ? I would recommend this camp grounds highly!!!! My visit was 08/ 23 I drove from Michigan to see the beautiful mountains and it was amazing experience.
