Halley's Store, also known as the Original Keystone Trading Company, has been a beloved local spot in the Black Hills for over 125 years. It is a unique place that serves as a hangout, eatery, antique store, ice cream and malt shop, and a beer and wine bar, among other things. Visitors often find the atmosphere laid-back, fun, and welcoming, with lively events like music nights and playful banter from staff. The store is not touristy; instead, it acts as a true community gathering place. People enjoy the friendly environment, delicious food like cheese curds, and the chance to experience the area's history through its decorations and stories. Many visitors have memorable moments here, whether watching a bartender bounce a penny into a beer or simply relaxing with friends. Overall, Halley's Store is a cool, unique spot where people can shop, enjoy live music, and soak in the genuine local vibe.
This was a great experience. The 1880 small town is a time machine. Jerry and Norah were knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. Fantastic rose quartz. Would recommend.

I spent 3 summers in Keystone, Halleys Store always was and will always be the coolest place in Keystone, SD. NOT TOURISTY AT ALL, THIS IS A REAL GEM. A REAL GATHERING PLACE OF THE COMMUNITY. If you are lucky enough to visit on a night they have music, take it all in.
