We've stayed several times and the K Bar S has never let us down. We've recommended it to friends and family and everyone loves it here. Bottom line, when we are visiting the Black Hills we stay here, no exception.Rooms: Every room we've had has been clean and spacious. We prefer staying in the main building but the others are very nice tooNearby activities: Everything you'd plan on seeing or doing in the Black Hills is very close to the K Bar S.

Stayed here during our cross-country trip. Very popular, so was a struggle getting a reservation for three consecutive nights. But definitely worth the effort! Just outside downtown Keystone. Good breakfasts. Would book here again.

Resort is away from the busy touristy main street. Feels miles away in its peaceful location. We booked a mountain view room where you have a distant view of Washington's profile at Mt. Rushmore. Neat to see when illuminated at night ! Room was comfortable amd quiet. Breakfast room area is large and had hot and cold selections. Firepit area with seating was enjoyable in the evening. This Ascend collection property is more of an upscale lodging option in an area with somewhat limited choices.

Nice and quiet location, but this was at the end of the season. The room was nice and the sitting area adjacent to the lobby was nice. The breakfast area is just a brief walk away from any of the rooms. The only dig is the supposed view of the mountain (Mt. Rushmore) is a joke. The view is very far away and not worth an increase in room price, don't fall for it. The picture is zoomed in on my camera and to zoom any further would have been blurred beyond making out anything.Nearby activities: Near My. Rushmore, but away from the town.

Stayed here for my fiancés cousins wedding for 4 nights. I can't express enough how beautiful the wedding was! Along with how wonderful and accommodating the staff were! 110% recommend this place!

We enjoyed our stay in Keystone. Room was spacious and comfortable. We had a second floor room with a small balcony from which we could see Mt Rushmore (well, at least George Washington’s profile) when it was lit up at night. Bathroom and amenities were pretty basic.

Check in was easy. We stayed in the lodge which was comfortable and had all the essentials. Parking was convenient, breakfast buffet was standard. Staff were friendly and welcoming. Watch for Mule Deer who wander the property. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

This was the highlights of our whole road trip, the hotel, the room, the view, the service, everything was over our expectations. We had a wonderful view from our room directly on the Rushmore, we were able to see the face of one president, really something stunning. The Bar Lodge is really well located to visit the "Black Hills", it is a short driving distance from Badlands, Custer Park, Rushmore, Crazy Horse and more!! The breakfast which is included with the room is very good, fresh pastries and plenty of food. The employees are very professional and always ready to help. Honestly if you decide to visit this region, make sure you reserve at the KBar Lodge.

Nothing particularly outstanding nor anything to complain about. A basic motel-style room: clean, comfortable, good Q beds, plenty of room for luggage, a good upholstered chair, desk and two desk chairs, and sink separate from toilet/tub area (which I really appreciate). It's a short, 5-minute walk to breakfast. Food is standard buffet fare. The lodge is off the highway, quiet, and surrounded by forested mountains. Reserve a mountain view room with balcony and you'll wake up to a clear view of Washington and Jefferson's profiles on the mountain beyond.

Our group of six all enjoyed their stays at the hotel. We were with a larger group touring S. Dakota and spent a week at the hotel. We appreciated the good variety of choices at breakfast each morning. Sometimes things run out but generally there are decent choices. The room was clean and the cleaning staff came a couple of times during our week stay. We walked to the main area of Keystone since we did not have a car. The road is a little dicey but in daytime safe. It is about a 15 minute walk to the shops and restaurants (we liked the Front Porch for the variety of choices). There is a small hot tub on the first floor in one of the outlying buildings but we didn't use it. The grounds are very nice and we appreciated the side view of Mt. Rushmore from the hotel. Front desk staff are very polite and friendly. There is a small pub area for a self serve dinner but options are somewhat limited. We ate there one time and it was ok but nothing special. We recommend the hotel to others who want to be close to Mt. Rushmore.

I had a good experience at this hotel. It is outside the hub-bub of Keystone main street but not at all out of the way. Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park, and all other attractions we were interested in were an easy drive by car. In fact, you can see Mt Rushmore from the K Bar S lodge. The lodge is surrounded by Ponderosa Pines and granite formations typical of the Black Hills, and deer were spotted feeding around the facility. Our room was clean, beds comfortable, plenty of hot water for showers, and an overall good experience. I would not hesitate to stay here again.

Very serene and private location just minutes from Main St. The front desk staff was very welcoming. Grounds are very well kept. Lodge is clean and has spacious lobby area with large windows, comfortable seating and balcony. Our room was clean, well equipped and had a spectacular view of Mt Rushmore from our balcony. We stayed in the main lodge building. It was a pleasant surprise as we had never been to So Dakota or stayed at an Ascend property previously. Lodge also is very close proximity to Mt Rushmore, Crazy Horse, Custer State Park and not a far drive from Badlands or Rapid City.

Great location just off the main drag, tucked away in the woods. We would definitely stay again and recommend. Enjoyed talking Reggae music to the workers from Jamaica, I even taught them a few things. Best latte in the area! Breakfast was very good! Sitting by the evening firepit was great. Also we could see Mt Rushmore from our balcony.
