I recently stayed at the Super 8 Motel in Keystone, SD, right across from the National Presidential Wax Museum. It’s a budget-friendly choice that exceeded my expectations. An additional advantage is that this motel is conveniently located within a 4-mile radius of the famous Mount Rushmore, making it a perfect base for exploring this iconic national monument and the surrounding area. The complimentary breakfast offering a variety of options in nicely packaged portions, including Danish, Muffin, and Gluten-free choices. It was a convenient and delicious start to the day.The location is fantastic if you plan to visit the National Presidential Wax Museum and Mount Rushmore. The motel is clean and well-maintained, offering good value for the price. The staff was friendly and accommodating, making our stay even more enjoyable. If you’re looking for a comfortable and budget-friendly place to stay while exploring Keystone and the nearby attractions, I highly recommend the Super 8 Motel. It’s a great choice for a memorable visit to this beautiful area!Rooms: Clean and spacious.

Cool hotel! 3 storeys with no elevator or luggage cart but stair wells at both ends. Room was clean, beds were comfortable, and staff was friendly. No microwave in room though, curtains are blackout but let light in all around and breakfast were grab-n-go brown bags made up the night before.Great location! On the main drag between the Keystone strip mall and the Rushmore Tramway Adventures park.Walkability: Right on the main drag close shopping and restaurants.

They have a brown paper sack breakfast - grab and go. No staff on premises after 9 p.m. until 7 p.m. Great location. Only a few channels for T.V. The shower/tub has hardly any water pressure, and the toilet sits really low. Our air-conditioner was noisy. No smoking on premises.Nearby activities: Centrally located to many shops and activities.

Extremely disappointed with the management. Guests are lined up in the morning but there are no staff in the office.People who want to leave early, do not stay in this place. Staff don't come before 7 am and are sleeping at home.

No swimming pool or elevator. Older hotel but we’ll maintained. It’s a great place to stay close to Mount Rushmore and other attractions.

We spent an overnight at the Super 8 in Keystone after our visit to crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore. This was in June, 2023. We checked in late afternoon. The front desk person was attentive, friendly and professional. She was better than many front desk personal we have dealt with on our trip around the US. She told us she had not been there long and was actually from Minnesota. But either way, she was a pleasure to deal with. Our room was decent for a lower cost motel. I like to rate lodging by what they provide for you in a price. point, rather than what they don't. So it had the essentials like bed, shower, tv and yes a hair dryer that some lower cost motels may not provide. The bed was quite comfortable and we both slept well. The desk was a decent size, but not big. What I liked about it was it had a light close by on both sides which makes using the desk with a computer or such, much easier. In our room, which was a king size in the back section of the hotel, didn't put the desk right in front of the air conditioner like so many rooms we have come across have done. Now remember, our room wasn't in the main motel section. As such, things could be different. The TV was pretty small, but it did the job. The furniture was nice. We had a refrigerator, but the door dragged on the ground, which made opening and closing harder than it needed to be. But since it was only cooling water bottles for the next day, we survived the horror of it all.The bathroom section was a split setup with a large sink in the main room and the shower and toilet in a smaller bathroom. The shower had good water pressure and soft water. The sink counter was quite large and provided ample room for laying out your stuff. The AC/heating unit in our room was near the sink because of the layout of the rear building. It was probably one of the better setup's I've seen. Again, we were in the rear building, the main motel and its three floors probably are different. They offer a grab and go breakfast. But they are very upfront in telling you that breakfast is not their thing. We considered the grab and go option, but decided to instead buy something elsewhere that we probably would enjoy more. Although the coffee was pretty good. This overnight was not cheap. Even in a more cost effective motel like this Super 8, it still cost us approximately $140 with taxes. So you will pay extra to be in a more desirable area like Keystone. It was still less expensive than most options though. And it was 2 miles from Mount Rushmore. So the Super 8 in Keystone is a decent option if your looking for a clean less expensive place to stay in Keystone.Rooms: The room we had was pretty good in most aspect. Large and good sink counter space.Walkability: There are plenty of things to walk to. Feet from our room had multiple eatery options and souvenir shops. Plus other things like a wax museum.

Clean budget motel, just two miles from Mt Rushmore. But new owners this year, freshly painted rooms and all new mattresses. My wife and I were on a 7 state road trip that included staying in motels 16 nights and we got our best sleep right here! Thanks Super 8 Keystone, SD! While in Keystone don't miss the 1880 Train.

Very good place to stay really. I was traveling with the family and this area and place, very safe and clean. The lady at front desk, very nice and we really found great price. Good experience spending the night there.

It is the best location to visit Mount Rushmore. However, the old facilities and unsanitary room were disappointing. As I entered the room, a large moth was flapping its wings, and the bathtub was clogged with hair.

This room was clean, the staff friendly and helpful, and this location was rather central to a lot of tourist areas in SD.

You get what you pay for. Was looking for something somewhat cheap (just needed a place to crash) and clean. Delivered on both. Was there late September. There's a great little coffee and breakfast place across the street, along with a small off leash pet area, dog park. Both welcomed surprises.

on the website reception is available 24/7, as we arrived at 9 pm and there was no one to be seen, also the phone was not answered 6 times. This is not pleasant after a long car ride, another hotel was fully booked. After half an hour someone arrived who gave us the key. This inconvenience has been compensated financially, which is a nice gesture.
