Just the best place: staff, doctor, the building itself are all top notch. We were tourists in town for a few days, and were concerned about our lab's ongoing ear infection. She's been seen twice by our vet back home, we just needed to make sure we weren't backsliding. We got an appointment the same day, saw Dr. Shipman who examined her thoroughly, and discussed what to do, what to look for, possible options about future treatment etc. great bedside manner. Couldn't be more pleased.

I have never seen an organization like this after dealing with numerous vets over the 14 years of having four fur babies, have zero compassion for a family who was just about to make the most difficult decision of putting our furbaby at peace. They refused to reach out to our vet, Dr. Stonecipher and said they had no way of knowing how to reach him. We just wanted to talk to him for one minute if we were doing the right thing. The front desk woman said if we want to have our dog put down by another vet, no problem. All I said was , I cant believe they are telling me they dont know how to reach our vet, no compassion what so ever. I would never recommend this vet or facility because they couldn't care less, only interested in money. Our furbaby is now at peace and no thanks to this clinic whatsoever.

Five years later. A friend needed a vet and went to "one that was closest." That clinic had two vets and one vet he felt was not very compassionate. I told him about this place and how they had four very nice vets. I also mentioned the Animal Hospital certification and as I mentioned that I thought I had better confirm my facts. Yup. Five years later and there still are only TWO vet clinics in all of Rapid City that are certified as animal hospitals. ( Like hospitals for people, there are a set of standards that have to be met.) I have never had a problem getting my Chihuahuas in to be seen. A routine appointment is usually within a week and an urgent one is less than a day. They have recently remodeled the place and it looks great and is always very clean. Staff is friendly and helpful.

So helpful for someone on the tourist circuit far from home and worried. Very accommodating with clear explanation of extremely reasonable fiscal responsibility. Thank you!

Never anything but the best service, help and concern for my dogs and myself. Upfront about fees before service etc. I highly recommend Dakota Hills Vet.

We were on the road and our little Havanese, Oreo, starting coughing. He's had all of his shots so I couldn't imagine why he was coughing. I looked on Yelp for a vet near the campground where we were staying and Dakota Hills Veterinary Clinic, in Rapid City,SD. popped up. I called and they made my appointment for that afternoon. Since he was coughing, they asked that I leave him in the car so as not to infect other animals in the waiting area. He was brought in another entrance in the back and directly into a room. Rachel took all the necessary notes, his temperature and then brought in Dr. Penny. She diagnosed him as having another form of kennel cough(which he received a vaccine for) but just like the flu, there's always a different strain to deal with. He was prescribed an antibiotic and a cough suppressant. The price was fair for being seen so quickly. Happy to give this positive review. Very clean environment and Oreo received treats during his exam- a winner for our boy!

Our vet of 12 years retired & we'd yet to find a replacement. My little dog was acting very strangely this morning & had a hard lump that was warm to the touch on his tushy, I showed up at Dakota Hills vet clinic with no appt & even though their schedule was full, they could see I was worried & graciously examined him right away. It turned out to be nothing urgent thank goodness but the way they accommodated us was wonderful! We've found our new vet!
