Bought a 2014 Chevy Cruze from them a year and half ago. Nothing but problems from when we bought it. Paint was good on lot and within a few month all started pealing off. We replace numerous parts on the motor. If that’s not bad enough. We recently traded it off on another vehicle and we were asked if we knew why the car was on fire. In the car file it came up that it had moderate fire damage when it was in New Jersey prior to us buying it at J&R. I would advise anyone that you should not buy a car here no matter how great of deal it is.

In July 2023 I bought a 2016 Ford escape from J & R Auto in SF as a college car for my son. Had the car less than 2 months and ended up needing head gasket...another 3k+ to fix. Was originally asked to tow the car to SF for repair (from Brookings, at my expense). I refused but was told by Brian Smith (manager at J & R) they would at least consider covering part of the repair if I sent them the invoice, which I did. For nearly 2 months I followed up via phone and was given a myriad of excuses as to why they hadn't yet made a decision, including "it was the boss's 60th birthday last week and he hadn't been back in since. Called again on Nov. 20 and was informed J & R "would not pay for someone else's work." Their right I guess, but when Brian told me they hadn't been in contact because they "lost my number" I lost it. DO NOT BUY FROM PAT HALEY, BRIAN SMITH, AND J & R AUTO ON WEST 12TH...GARBAGE VEHICLES, GARBAGE SERVICE, SHAMEFUL EXCUSES FOR HUMAN BEINGS

Dishonest Sales person- John sold my daughter a camper with a known broken head gasket. Found the short-term sealant in the radiator. Did not get 100 miles on it before it died. Laughed in my face when I asked him what he was going to do about it. Zero Stars!

Had a great experience everyone was super helpful and friendly. We got a great deal on a pickup. I recommend this place for sure. When we are ready for a second vehicle we will definitely be coming back.

Arrived at the dealership at 5:10 PM. Asked if I could take a car for a test drive and salesman said no they were closing at six. Website shows that they close at 6:30.Vehicle had signs of an animal living in it, which he dismissed as someone rubbing their foot on the seat.

Went to look at a vehicle they had listed online as an AWD/4WD with a great price. When I asked the salesperson why was it so much cheaper than the others, he just shrugged his shoulders and said "it has high miles". After a closer look at the description on the paper on the vehicle, discovered it was not AWD or 4WD, just a front wheel drive which would explain the price. I was really disappointed with the salesperson.

I bought a car from them about 2 years ago and It was the worst experience I've ever had. My car has non-stop problems and as soon as I bought the car the struts needed to be replaced. The care was also in an accident prior to purchase that they didn't disclose and my car over heated and started smoking and needed to be towed. Long story short the fan and radiator were broken/bent from the accident. NEVER trust this company and don't buy from them.

Very terrible service. They were willing to help me get into a car but once I got into a car, I never heard back from them. My car is damaged inside all their paintings that was done inside is chipping off. My sunroof is no longer working and also I do not have access to my Love department. They have had that locked since I purchased the car and although I have been making complaints and it is now pushing three months or so. I have not heard from either the owner or his receptionist. Hard-working money then you can sacrifice and go to them. I’m paying for a damaged car!!

Their cars fall apart in front of your eyes on the lot and the dealers still won't negotiate prices. The SUV that I was looking at had plastic falling off of the side, holes in the back seats, and a TON of missing paint on the exterior body, about 100k miles and was being sold for 17k (not including tax.)

The salesman was not friendly and was very rude when my husband and I asked questions. He did not know all the facts about the cars he was selling and tried to make us feel dumb about it. Would not recommend.

Terrible customer service. Was sold a car that needs a whole new motor. When I test drove the car the check engine light came on. I was told by John they would fix it for free, now he said “my hands are tied.” This car should have never been sold to me when they knew about how bad the car was. Never going back here again.

Here’s a place I will never be buying a car from again.The car I test drove had the check engine light appear. When I arrived back to the dealership I was told it was just a coil pack and it was cleared by the salesman (John M.) I was told by said salesman, “if it comes back on bring it back and I’ll fix it for free.” After bringing it home the check engine came back on and there was an antifreeze smell coming from my car. (I had it for one day.) I told the salesmen at J and R auto of the check engine light being back on and also that there was a hole in my radiator hose. He was no help and told me I needed to drive it back to Sioux falls to have their mechanics look at it and me pay for it. I could not drive a car back 2 and half hours that was leaking antifreeze. I had the radiator hose fixed in Mankato, (a hose their shop at put in before me buying the car), but still has the check engine light on. After finally getting my car looked at, it was more than a coil pack. Both my dad and I have called J and R asking them to fix my car because these problems were there before I bought my car. We have been told “our hands are tied” and to drive it to Sioux Falls so we can pay their mechanics. Only having my car for 3 months and it being a fairly new car it will have cost me thousands to fix. This car should have not been sold to me as is and I will never be buying anything from this place again.Just wanted to share this on social media due to them not being helpful. I am a first time buyer and this group has made my whole experience terrible. They would not listen to me or my dad when we called asking for help so maybe someone will on here.My niece and her dad bought a used car and now she is stuck with a lemon

My friend bought her 2014 Chevy Cruze from here and it’s been nothing but trouble. Oil leaks, transmission issues, and other unknown issues have popped up over the last 6 months. Let it be known that they buy cars “as is” which is very hit or miss. I would NEVER recommend these folks to anyone!
