Midco® Aquatic Center is Sioux Falls' first indoor aquatic center, located in Spellerberg Park. It is a very nice, new, and clean facility with three pools, including a family pool, a 15-foot diving pool, and a 10-foot deep water pool. The center features stands with good acoustics and air circulation, a mezzanine, concessions, lockers, an outdoor splash pad, and sundeck. It is a beautiful facility with good hours for year-round swimming. However, the experience is impacted by very strict rules and staff management. Many guests feel under constant pressure from the lifeguards, who are described as constantly yelling for minor infractions, making it hard to relax and have a good time. Specific points of frustration include rules against life jackets, the water features in the kids' play area being on only briefly, and enforced breaks that feel too long. While the facility itself is praised, the overall atmosphere is seen as less laid-back than comparable venues. The water temperature in the pools and showers is noted as being pretty cold. It is considered a good but ultimately okay experience, with a sense that the beautiful facility could be much more with different personnel training.
Chlorine over load. It was a crappy day and 10 year old wanted to go swimming. He loved it (sick now lol) had fun. Cheap even if don't swim got to pay. Made it 3 hours and was ready to get out there. Plenty of kids there and life guards don't miss a thing. Friendly, stuff to eat places to sit and shower.
