I called to see if they could help my old and sick baby girl with a heart condition. They said bring her right in, but when I got there they were absolutely no help at all! My baby was breathing so hard, panting like crazy, enlarged heart, she's been sick all night/morning. I told the lady when I called ALL OF THIS - "bring her right in, we stop taking patients at 3". I get there around 2 - there are 2 ladies sitting behind the front desk and only 1 was checking patients in, so I had to wait for the person checking patients in to finish with someone else - I tell her (the same lady who I talked to on the phone) why I'm there and when I said my baby girl had trouble breathing she said "Her tongue is still pink." Then as I was filling out paperwork another person came out and said that they had other sick dogs and probably wouldn't get to my baby for another 3 hours so to take her to an ER in Chattanooga or Knoxville. Why? Why did the lady I called tell me to come in? Why did she try to dismiss my baby's breathing issues? My poor girl is in pain and can't breathe while laying down. Now I've got to find another vet to see her tonight! This all could have been avoided if the front end lady had told me not to bring her in in the first place.

5 stars, Great service from the Vet and her helpers with my newly adopted stray cat and last month with my old dog. 0 stars for the office manager Whitney, after I was done with the Vet and went out to the counter to check out. First desk employee by the entrance door is always real nice and busy, she was helping another customer, then when done with that customer she had one also on the phone. Middle desk employee seemed busy with folders and another customer with a big dog. So, 5-10 minutes waiting the end desk employee is texting on her cell phone the whole time? No one says be with you in a minute. Finally end desk employee says I will help you down here. I said I been waiting like 10 minutes; she says they are busy. I say your busy texting, she snaps back at me that it was about her daughter and her daughter comes first. I complain to owner via Facebook, and he says manager will call me. To their credit, Whitney the manager is this end desk employee and calls me, I do not except her apology as she thinks it's OK for the above treatment of a paying customer, plus her other employees had people waiting phone, while she's texting. Manager needs customer service training and how do you think the other two employees feel when she the manager is texting her husband while they are working. I will not be back, I retired couple of years ago, carrying a phone at work or texting or talking on personnel phone wasn't permitted. I know one company that will dock employees $25 for doing that.

We took a stray cat in recently because they conveniently have a walk-in policy. Everyone was nice but the cat as a “possible respiratory infection” according to them that I paid close to $200 for a visit. The cat is still suffering from infection that is contagious to other animals. We have four other animals that we are having to keep away from this cat so they dont get sick as well. I can’t believe they want to charge me another visit plus cost of medicine for a “possible” fix. It sucks in order to take care of animals were being railroaded on the cost of care for them. Im sure many people have had great experiences with this vet. This is not one for me and our kitty is still suffering. ISO another vet that does not have a $50 wellness visit fee ???

Our Kitty we rescued from being a hungry, feral kitten, rejected by her mother ( we worked very hard to gain her trust and very successfully move her in with us); unfortunately swallowed something dangerous. We brought her into the clinic, were taken back very promptly and the doctor did surgery within the hour. We were SO EXTREMELY impressed at how swift and smoothly the entire process was from the moment we walked in!! We were thoroughly educated of the surgery and any and all risks involved. The doctor and the surgery was very successful! The entire staff involved in her care contacted us a couple times a day during her recovery time there and followed up with us when we brought her home! They saved her life; very grateful. We would not take our animals anywhere else!

Couldn't give No Stars so here it is. Took two of my babies in. An 18 yr old snot wanted to argue with me on a shot I told her several times "NO" to! She said " I'll ask the Vet what she wants to do" she comes back in and says " We gave it to her anyway" .... Against my saying No Several times... She ended up developing a Half Dollar sized lump as a reaction to the shot I said No to!...took her back in, they called her name, nobody else stood up to my babies name do figured it was us. We get back there to weigh her & the tech says " So this is Ladybug?" I said yes. Get in exam room and different vet comes in...Wrong Chart and goes to get the correct chart, comes back in with another chart that isn't ours...then proceeded to tell me the confusion is my fault...I asked how's that? She says because I took someone else's appointment... Really? And how did I do that when nobody answered to the name Ladybug except me? Then I found out, the Dr the week before didn't administer the shot, the tech did...so the little snotty twit who argued with me, just let the other tech administer something I said No to. Run, take your babies elsewhere!!!

Took my pet in for exam/vaccine/surgery. They charged me for all the worm tests and told me he was negative. A week later her had tape worms, didn't have them before. Took him to my regular vet and find out he's full of heart worms, even though he had preventive meds. Office manager argued and told me all this could happen in 2 week time period, during cold weather nonetheless, and refused to refund my my money.

PLEASE LOOK AT THE PICTURES WITH THE REVIEW!! I would give 0 stars if I could. I gave this place a good review before but I completely regret it now. I took my dog in to be groomed and because she can be difficult to groom they sedated her. Mind you she is 16 years old and they did not preform any blood work on her prior to sedating her. Worst of all when she got picked up from the groomer by my aunt her butt had severe wounds on it that were 100% not there before I dropped her off. Also when she was brought out the wounds were not addressed by anyone. After getting home and seeing her I was livid. I called the clinic a couple different times but no answer. I went to the clinic and spoke to the ladies at the front desk. I told them how angry I was and told them they could pull me off to the side to talk but they didn't. I didn't yell or curse at them but I was visibly upset. It's not my fault other customers were listening either. The ladies up front were nice about the situation but didn't have an explanation for what happened. The groomer was gone for the day and I was told I would be receiving a call on Monday from the groomer and the owner of the clinic. I got a call from the front desk later that day and they told me they spoke to the groomer and the groomer was trying to say that her butt was matted. That is 1000% a lie. I bathe my dog once a week and brush her every time after a bath. I had actually bathed her the day before I took her to the groomer because she had gotten dirty and don't u think I would've been able to feel mats on her while I was bathing her?! I never received a call from the groomer or the owner. I did receive a refund for the grooming tho. I spent over $100 that day and only got refunded $30. Fast forward a couple weeks after this all happens I receive something in the mail from the clinic it's a copy of my dogs records and a note I guess from the owner (I'm not sure) saying that I'm not allowed back to the clinic because of the way I acted in their office. I'm not allowed back because I stood up for my dog who was obviously abused?! I didn't curse or yell even tho it would have been well deserved. This groomer has apparently been in business for 30 years, yeah 30 years too long. I think this whole situation was handled extremely poor. My family will also not be taking their animals back to this terrible facility. Please be careful taking your animals here. I thought I could trust this clinic but let this show you how much they truly "care" about their patients. Update: the owner left a response and first of all I do not work for a groomer so that's false and when I walked into the office I told the front desk that they should pull me to the side to talk about the matter due to the circumstances since they probably wouldn't want other customers hearing the situation and they chose not to. My dog is 16 years old she sleeps all the time she doesn't chew on her butt and for the 50th time I bathe my dog weekly and brush her every time so idk where anyone is getting that she had Matts. It's obviously just an excuse to cover your asses and make it seem like it was my fault. The plenty of other bad reviews justify my bad experience and show the clinics true colors.

We were recommended by a friend to go to this vet. Our beagle started showing alarming symptoms of back pain Friday morning so once we got off work, we called and they told us they didn’t close until 11 pm (this was at 6:30 pm) so to bring her in. We drove 45 min from Ooltewah, got there a little after 7 and they turned us away. They said they couldn’t take on anymore patients. We begged, explained the situation and how far our drive was and they said come back in the morning

My daughter took her dog in today for a check up and shot updates. She is only 17, and just starting her journey into adulthood. I realize there are many unkind people she will run across, but I never imagined it would be staff at a veterinary clinic. Instead of asking for clarification on the situation (she misunderstood and thought they were asking about flea medication, but apparently they were asking about heartworm), they degraded her behind closed doors (which can be heard through). She left there in tears, I am appalled at their behavior and lack of compassion. We will never return.

I'm new here but so far they have helped my dog with her ears when a different vet couldn't. They are very knowledgeable. They even have a treatment for her anal glands where a different vet tried a few different things that didn't work.

We have been a few times and had no complaints until last night when we had to take our family dog of 14 years to be put to sleep. Despite having an appointment, we waited for an HOUR past our appt time with me and my two sons crying (30 minutes of which was in a packed lobby and another 30 in a room where we could hear the staff in back laughing and have a great time) while we sat and held our dog waiting for the inevitable in tears. I was appalled at the lack of compassion for a family with a SCHEDULED appointment for such an event to not have been ready with a room and had some solace and respect amongst the staff to know that a family was losing an animal they loved so dearly. When there is a planned euthanasia taking place, they could have the decency to behave as one would at a funeral, not a party.

Had an appointment with Dr. Curtis and this was the first time Gracie has been there although both her sister and cousins have been..He was so good with her and she let him examine her without fussing or trying to get away...the office staff and techs are amazing, friendly, helpful and I recommend The Animal Clinic of Athens with no hesitation...
