Oct 19th 2022 My vehicle had broken down so I rented a car from Avis in April 2022. In addition to the rental amount they take an additional $300 deposit. I extended the rental 3 times and had notified them each time by phone. The third time the manager (I assume it was the manager) sent me a nasty email demanding the return of the car immediately. Two days later l returned the car as soon as I could arrange a ride home from the airport Avis location. Imagine my disbelief when I went online to investigate strange activity with my checking account and discovered overdraft fees resulting in hundreds of dollars and finally declined transactions. I was shocked to see that Avis had charged the price of the rental car, which was a very reasonable amount, but had also charged additional late fees and various other fees that had no explanation. My entire monthly Social Security check went entirely to Avis which, of course, resulted in multiple overdraft fees and late/returned check fees, AND fees with my creditors. I went to ECU for help as I felt that Avis was perpetrating fraud but was told I should go to the police. That was just preposterous so I borrowed money from a friend to \"fix\" my account. Unfortunately, that did not end the problem, I have continued to have months of returned payments and more hundreds of dollars of fees. I contacted ECU to stop the auto payments on my account and was told I would have to do so individually on each account, which I did. However, several creditors ignored my instructions to stop the autopayments resulting in more overdraft fees, returned item fees, and late fees. This continues to have an adverse effect on my financial status resulting in, among other things, a dramatic drop in my credit score that I had worked so hard for years to improve. Sincerely,

The only kiosk in the airport that will accept debit cards as a form of payment - but they’ll run a credit check on you (didn’t get counted as a hard hit, but STILL). You will have a $200 hold on top of the rental itself.Upgraded to a diff. vehicle and they made the change for me. The new vehicle I was given wound up having the check engine light on so I hard to turn back and get it exchanged but they made it easy.Cody at the front desk was super kind the entire time, that man needs a raise.

Rented a car this past Friday that at higher speeds had a loud drone on right rear wheel. Took the car back and they couldn't have been nicer. Quickly exchanged the car and gave me an upgrade without me asking to an Acura MDX which was a pleasant surprise. Great experience! I'll be back!

I have rented from this company a couple times before and the last time was the LAST TIME. Paid for a Full Size SUV (4-Runner or Equivalent). Was given a Chevy Equinox and told by the girl at the counter that they are the "same class" and that's all that they had. I knew that the Equinox was not the same as a 4Runner or Ford Explorer as what I had paid for. Left the airport and called Avis Corporate. The agent on the phone confirmed that the Equinox was not the class of vehicle I had paid for and gave me a price adjustment. I honestly would have been ok with the smaller SUV (not really there wasn't enough cargo room so my wife had to sit cramped up in the back seat with the rest of our luggage for 11 hours) if the agent at the counter had adjusted the price to coincide with the smaller vehicle. Instead she lied to my face and still charged me the rate for the larger vehicle. Also they put an extra $200 hold on my credit card because as she put it (we have to have some leverage on you if you don't return the vehicle on time). This was never shown to me when I reserved the car. You always get what you pay for folks, its worth the extra money just so you don't get ripped off! Treat your customers fairly from the get go and it pays dividends. Now you have customers who will tell everyone they know about how they were treated.

Rented at the Avis in TriCities Airport in Tenn. The gentlemen behind the counter were courteous and helpful. However...the cost quoted to me when I called to make the reservation was quite a bit less than what I was actually charged. I commend the agent in charge for trying to compensate for that by giving me an upgrade. The prices seem fairly...or unfairly...high.

Pray you leave nothing in the car. “Local” phone number goes to corp office. No way to ask anyone about leaving a pair of glasses in car. Corporate office answers all calls and insists on filling out a lost report on the main Avis website. Trouble is, there website only has a few locations for that and TRI cities isn’t one . I left something in a Hertz car and they mailed it to me after a simple phone call.

I am very frustrated that I cannot contact the actual Avis location at Tri-Cities airport. I have called 50 times and each time I get the reservation call center personnel. I would really like to speak directly to someone at the Tri-Cities Blountville, TN location to ask a specific question to.The greeting on the phone specifically says thank you for call the Avis location at Tri-Cities Airport, but it is not.

Decent car, higher miles but in good shape. Counter staff was nice and service was quick. Read the fine print about mileage and fuel or be prepared to give them a fuel receipt to avoid a $15 fuel charge.

They lady working tonight was extremely helpful. (Sorry we forgot your name) I had already been to Enterprise and walked out. I got on the phone and called Avis. She went out of her way to get me in a ride at a awesome price. The car was $50 cheaper than what Enterprise tried to burn me. Avis deposit was $100 cheaper and they didn’t have no bogus charges. After this experience you guys gained a customer. The rep working Sunday evening May 16th 2021 needs to be recognized. Her customer service and people skills were over the top. Thanks Avis!

Melanie was incredibly helpful. She went above and beyond to make sure I was able to get a rental. The best customer service experience I've ever had.
