Keep charging me fees for things I opted out of. Stealing people money one fee after another even when you did the right thing ! I recommend a better bank that does not steal from people

On 5/3/2021 I deposited a check that was a draft from a company in Canada. The Canadian company has a bank in Minneapolis, MN (USA) that issues the funds to cover any drafts that the Canadian company issues to recipients here in the U.S.The Capstar Bank teller named "M*****", advised me that she didn't know how to handle a "foreign" check and left to ask another person there at the bank what to do with the check. Perhaps all tellers should be further trained as to how to handle foreign checks.She came back to the drive through window and told me that they had to snail mail it to their head office to process.The deposit slip was made to resolve into my personal account and NOT the joint account that my husband and I shared.The funds were added to the wrong banking account and not until 5/14/2021 which was 13 days after I deposited the check at Capstar. This was not done in a timely manner at all.I had once deposited a check from this same company into a personal account at another bank and it only took two days for them to release the funds.It is frightening to know that Capstar Bank cannot handle checks from Canada or any foreign company that goes through a U.S. bank, and then when it does get deposited, it's deposited into the wrong Capstar account!Even though it was deposited into an account my husband and I share, it makes me wonder what the bank would do if they deposited the funds into someone else's account not associated with mine nor my husband's account.My advise to anyone seeking a bank in Cleveland, TN or any other Capstar Bank location to choose some other bank to handle their business as Capstar bank has some major issues to resolve. I am not very happy with this bank at all and giving serious though to closing my account with them.

Capstar has excellent customer service and I am very happy to do business here. They are always going out of their way to help me with whatever I need. Free checking accounts are an excellent foundation and perfect reason to give them a try!

When it was Athens Federal they seemed to have good customer service. Since it has been changed to Cap Star Bank, the customer service experience has been VERY VERY POOR. No response to on-line inquiries sent - TWICE ... call customer service number listed on line, advised it is for "on-line help only" and was given ANOTHER number to call that is NOT listed on their website ... when I call the 'other' customer service number given, which is a local number, kept getting transferred - and NO WARNING that I was getting transferred whatsoever - not very inconsiderate. If you're busy, common courtesy is to at least tell someone you're going to transfer to someone else. Ended up having to leave a message to whoever I was transferred to ... now I have to wait for a return call.......which could be who knows when......

They continually block my card for fraud if i go out of state at all ... leaving my card completely useless, and i cant even call anybody to get it fixed because none of the numerous phone numbers work. Wouldnt recommend this bank to anyone

The capstar switch has been horrible. I got charged fees on my accounts for "paper statements", when I have been signed up for paperless for years with Athens Fed. Also the butchered the login and couldn't access my account until I could go to the branch and get everything reset and then I could finally use the online banking. Also they changed the routing number but said previously setup accounts/bills/ECT would be fine with the athens Fed routing number. Well I've had a few things that are processed through ACH payments get blocked and had to be fixed because my account appeared as a new account and had the spending limited because it was a new account (it wasn't,the bank did some sort of update to the routing number without involving me, so it took a few phone calls to figure out why things all of the sudden wouldn't process. I'm waiting on a few things to clear and switching my direct deposit and bill pay and stuff over to my credit union account and then I will be heading over to capstar to close my account. It's a shame because the people are great at our branch but the new company is poorly run and Nickel and diming.

With So many other bank choices in Cleveland, you should look elsewhere to bank.Loan department at AF is a joke. Try elsewhere. Regular staff is friendly, but if you want to borrow money the loan person is a know it all and is rude and belittling.

I have been a customer for over 20 years and will never leave this bank. I have done business with them in Etowah, Athens, and Cleveland. Every branch is the same. Great people that will go above and beyond to serve their clients.
