Over all, it was pretty good. But I do understand the low ratings, too. They do almost act as if they don't want to adopt out any animals. I can see and understand the complaints about the staff being rude, too. I nipped that attitude in the bud real quick. After that, I found the absolute best companion in the world. He's just a damn good dog. I even got a discount on his fees. It helps to be big and tattooed these days. But truth be known, I'm soft hearted and gentle. But I'm a firm believer in demanding respect from those whom I've given respect. *Edit* I lost my angel this year. He was so special. Everybody loved Apollo and was there for him anytime. Friends would come over just to take him for a ride. He was allowed in homes of folks that never had inside dogs. Kids that were horribly afraid of dogs, Apollo loved them til they lost their fear. He amazed everyone he met. His face was all you had to see and you knew he was loving. He never barked, he knew no strangers. Never growled or shown his teeth, he wasn't able to be mad. Though he looked tough, he wasn't. The most special American bulldog. The roles were flipped, I was honored to be his friend and caregiver. I would have died for him. Those that knew him, knowing Apollo will go down as the most memorable occasions in their life. I can't find words that have been spoken in all the languages, of this world, to explain my loss. Thank you, Apollo. When I met you, you were called Maddox. I thought I was rescuing a dog, but I met my angel instead. I miss you so.

Quite impressed with this place. My wife and I go here regularly for volunteer work !! Before we went in we expected to see the dogs and cats in a horrible & depressing environment, especially after seeing many YouTube videos of various shelters. But we were quite surprised to see how clean and spacious this place is. The dogs and cats are very well looked after. The staff and volunteers go to great lengths to look after these wonderful pets and care for them. All pets are medically treated and cared for as soon as they come in, especially if they have existing conditions. Hats off to all the staff here who work tirelessly and passionately look after these wonderful animals. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who has plans to adopt dogs/kittens. By the way, the kittens here are so adorable and playful that you can spend your entire day watching them and not realize the time flying by !! ❤️❤️

I had a very good experience with this shelter! I didn't feel like the process was overly cumbersome like some reviews are showing. In fact, I'm a little surprised now reading the reviews. I didn't receive any negative vibes at all. Everyone was kind and pleasant! On top of that, the shelter was amazingly clean! That is no easy feat for an animal shelter. Please understand, shelters that truly care for the animals are going to be strict on the adoption process, as they should be! You don't go through so much trouble caring for and socializing animals to sell them off as bait dogs. The animals in this shelter seem very well cared for, loved, and happy. There is no need to send them off to a worse life. True animal lovers will understand this. Too many pets are abused and neglected. If you dealt with that day in and day out, you'd be pretty selective too!All in all, this shelter seems great! No, we didn't get the 1st dog we came to meet. Yes, we had to bring our dogs up there twice to make sure everyone got along. But, now we have a great pup who slid into the family as if he'd been with us his whole life! Thanks so much CAS!

Don't waste your time, you have to jump through too many hoops just to go look and see what they have! With all the animals needing adoption you would think they would have a better process.

Wow! What a wonderful and positive change this shelter has made over the years. I adopted a fur baby from this shelter. The employees and volunteers were very friendly. And took the time to explain everything about my pet adoption.

Set an appointment for the manager to call so that we could make an appointment to come in and see some dogs, but he never called. That's okay, my wife concluded that the vetting process was going to be way too stressful and she wasn't up for that. The receptionist was very nice and helpful and the place seemed really upscale. Those 2 reasons are why I give it 3 stars, and most of that's for the nice lady. What I don't understand is why they didn't call us back with as many pets as they have to adopt. Maybe animal shelters have become big business and they can be choosy like that ? ?.

The most entitled and undeveloped animal adoption centre I’ve come across. If you want to feel like you’re in the 1960’s and get judged before you’re even allowed to see any animals this is the place for you!

I got a 1 year old Pit Lab mix. His name is Jackson. I worked with Sandy on this adoption and she has been very receptive to me. My grandkids are happy!

I am so hurt by this place. I tried to adopt a kitten for my family. I have two boys (3 and 2) and a 5 year old dog. I have vet references, my dog is overly spoiled and I even opened up and told them that we had a beloved cat that some how got ahold of a mouse that had eaten poison and passed away. Total honesty on my side. They declined my application For two reasons. 1. I have two young kids. Even though I told them they have been around animals their whole life, they didn't care. 2. Because of how my cat died. As if I didn't blame myself already. Yes, I can find a kitten elsewhere, but I'm seriously hurt by how they responded. oh well!

I took my kids here to see about volunteering, but due to new procedures,we couldn't walk around and see the animals without an appointment. The employees were so sweet and gave my boys two stuffed bears instead. Thank you so much for that.

I have adopted 2 dogs from this shelter and both times have been nearly impossible. They point out everything that can go wrong and made my family feel unfit to take care of the dogs even though we’ve had dogs our whole life. Recently picked up 2 homeless dogs and brought them to them. RUDEST experience i’ve ever had. Sandy “helped” me by telling me these dogs would have to be put down. So much for doing the right thing. They were put down only a couple days after i dropped them off even though i told them i had rescues trying to pull them. Use to support CAS but after this last experience i will no longer. Also had always heard they were a no kill shelter but the supervisor informed me that they never have been a no kill. Supervisor also was no help when i brought this situation to light making excuses for everything including Sandys behavior and tried to pin putting the dogs down on me. Super unprofessional and will never adopt from here again.
