December 2023 by Barker Bike Pirate
I came here while cycling the Trace in freezing December. The room is being remodeled and she didn't have a place for me. I'm giving this motel 5 stars anyway, because the owner not only made sure she found a place for me so I could be out of the freezing temperatures for two nights, but I also got to meet her family and friends and hang out with some truly down to earth great folks. I don't know when the remodeling is going to be finished, but if you're traveling the Trace and need to find resources, Joann, the owner, has got the information you need and all the local connections. I'll be back because I made good friends in Collinwood because of Jo's big heart.

My husband Dave enjoyed two nights at Collinwood 355 Motel while cycling on the Natchez Trace Parkway.Walkability: He walked to the barbecue restaurant and got great brisket there. He also had a delicious meal from the Mexican restaurant.Noteworthy details: Dave had trouble with his truck, so Joanna and Gary gave him helpful advice about where to get a new battery. They were very friendly, welcoming and accommodating.

My daughter and I stayed here on our bicycle tour and it was the best experience on the trip so far. The proprietors Joanna and Gary are very personable and over the top gracious. We felt right at home! Great sbower, comfy beds and large living space. It's close to everything and Collinwood is such a quaint town. I highly recommend you check out the newly remodeled 355 Collinwood hotel.

This is one of very few lodging options in Collinwood. I stayed in the street level room and it worked well for my family and I. It had two queen beds and one twin bed. The furniture and room are old and dated-looking, but clean and well-kept. The room had a refrigerator and microwave, which was nice. We arrived late, which was fine because the key is kept in a lockbox.Communication with the owner takes a bit of patience and persistence because there are three phone numbers. Two of them are cell phones for the two owners and the other is their house phone. They do not have cell phone service at their home. Once you get ahold of the owners they are very responsive and quick to contact you back when needed. (A note to the owners: I highly recommend setting up a free Google Voice number that will ring all three phones at once. That would greatly reduce confusion for guests.)My sister is allergic to dogs so I was concerned about the “pets welcome” policy but the owner assured me that they stopped accepting pets in 2018 and have deep cleaned the place since then. My sister didn’t have any allergy problems, which was great! We found a stain on one of the sheets and the owner responded quickly, apologized and brought a fresh set. I’m confident that the sheets were clean, but I appreciated that he didn’t want us to sleep on one with a stain.Overall, I would recommend this motel. We had a very positive experience!
