I would board my horses at Circle K even if I didn’t live in Tennessee. Here’s why:
You have someone out there on the property 24/7 that has 35 years of experience in horsemanship, has raised and put under saddle probably 100 horses or damn near close to it, and continues to inform herself about horses, riding, horse health, and horsemanship.
If you do visit or board at Circle K, pay attention. Watch what she does. You might learn something while you’re there.
This barn is a rarity. A true working horse farm. Yes, Margaret works that farm on her own and has for several years.
She feeds the horses, waters them, throws hay, and checks them over before she eats breakfast and dinner everyday.
She then cleans approximately ten stalls everyday even when it’s blistering hot or freezing cold.
However, you are more than welcome to clean your horse’s stall. Nobody will complain. At least they didn’t when I did.
But, for the welfare of the horse, please don’t feed them. Let Margaret handle that.
After all, if you want your horse to be slick, shiny, and happy, Circle K is the place to be so let her do her magic.
As for water, Margaret supplies endless water. Some horses may even require two water buckets alongside their feed bucket/tub to ensure they get enough water. Horses do tend to play in their water as well which makes their buckets sloppy but Margaret will clean them before the horse returns to his stall.
Again, you’re welcome to fill and clean water buckets and troughs. Nobody complained when I did.
Just make sure you know the difference between a feed tub and a water bucket/trough before you fill them up. Don’t want to add more work for Margaret.
Margaret is about getting the job done which is exactly what you’re paying her for so if you’re getting in the way of her doing her job and you’re not happy with what she provides, isn’t that on you?
She knows how to take care of horses. She sat up with me into the wee hours of the night with my horse who was sick and the vet couldn’t make the trip. She basically saved that horse’s life that night, and I didn’t get in her way.
She was there when my mare gave birth.
She has shown me how to be a better horseman.
As a boarder, her terms are clear and standard. Every barn I’ve ever boarded at (hell even apartments ask for this) asks for a thirty day notice before terminating your agreement. Read the contract.
She gives you access to her farrier who has his own schedule because he is NOT her employee. You may also use her vet if you don’t already have one you prefer.
If you have an issue with the farrier, find your own, but discuss it with Margaret out of pure respect for her business.
Oh and even though I do live six hours away now, I do know where I would send my horses if I had to send them out of state.
I know for a fact she would treat them like her own and make sure they were cared for regardless of the status of our relationship.
That’s the kind of businesswoman she is and professional horsewoman she is.

I have boarded my horse with Margaret for almost a year now. Let me start at the beginning..... I come from a long line of horse people, and have had my own horse farm for over a decade. When my life changed, I was very lucky to find Circle K. You should know a little bit of what kind of "Horse Mom'" I am. My horses are my babies. I do everything in my power to make sure they have the best care and I am very careful with them. I watch them like a hawk- trust no one. I have only great things to say about my experience at Circle K. I thank God to have Margaret in my life and greatly appreciate her horsemanship. She takes care of my horse the same way I do!

If you want reality, traditional horse training and now how this is the place. They have no time for anxiety born individuals with social issues. This is an excellent place to make real men and real women while having a great time and amazing memories. Their horse camp will change you. I'm 36, I remember over 25 years ago going to this horse camp and this instilled an amount of discipline and memories one can only dream of. It will change your life for the better.

I have been going to circle k for both lessons and camp for years and have never received anything but a great experience. I enjoy the stables so much and always look forward to going. The owner, Ms. Margret, is so kind and has taught me so much about horsemanship. I absolutely love riding here!

My daughter has taken lessons and attended camps for at least 4 years so I have a bit of history with the owner, horses, and farm as a whole. I have nothing but good things to say. I say this with the understanding that learning how to ride and improve skills can sometimes be frustrating because horses-just like people- aren’t push button but my family has found our experiences at Circle K overwhelmingly positive and has only deepened my daughter’s love of horses. I was even able to get “back in the saddle” with a few lessons myself prior to our family vacation to a dude ranch. It had been a while but after a few lessons I felt less nervous for the vacay and more confident. Highly recommend!
