Hours: The Dickson Help Center began in the late 1960s when Marilyn Field started a food pantry for neighbors in need from the old Buttery Building in Burns. After moving to West 5th Street in 1972, it was renamed the Dickson County Help Center (DCHC) at the suggestion of Joyce Gassett, to extend help to neighbors throughout the county. The DCHC closed in 1976 due to the poor conditions of the building. As the need grew, local leaders reorganized the DCHC in December 1978, under the leadership of Helen Rial, and chartered June 1979. In 1998, a North Main Street storefront became home to a Thrift Store and the Food Bank, to help fund its mission. Today, DCHC continues to provide food, clothing, financial aid, and more with dignity and compassion.
