April 2024 by Full time RVing Family (Seismic_nuggets)
This campground is advertised as a “resort” and it’s just not. The “playground” is two old rusty swings and a plastic climbing cube that’s broken with sharp, jagged pieces of plastic on the sides. I purchased a baby swing because there was a space to hang other swings and it came with another regular swing, that I donated to the campground since their other swings were clearly in need of an upgrade - we were there for a month and the new swing I donated was never put up. The picnic tables on the sites are all broken and the sites by the stream have little decks overlooking the river that don’t look safe to be on, the wood is all warped and weathered. There is a freight train railroad that runs next to the park at all hours of the day and night, and people race up and down the back road directly behind the river all night. There is one woman who works in the main office who doesn’t even acknowledge you, smile, or say hi when you walk in and is visibly annoyed when you ask for assistance with something. Everyone else is super friendly, though. The grounds and facilities are clean and the maintenance workers are so helpful and friendly. The bathrooms are clean and the live music isn’t super loud, so doesn’t disturb people who just want a quiet night. There really aren’t any amenities here besides the store and music, which is why I feel like it’s a hard STRETCH to call this place a resort. It is very close to Nashville but far enough from the riff raff of the city, which felt safe and peaceful. We visited during off season so it wasn’t super crowded but you could see from some of the sites that when it’s busy they PACK people in there. The sites are definitely way too close together. Our site felt like a standard sized site and during peak season they put a camper in between where our camper and the neighboring camper is, which is insane. It wasn’t a bad experience, but we wouldn’t stay here again just because of the lack of amenities.

Stayed for one month. Overall good RV park.Cons:1. Expensive considering no trash pickup, no propane tank pickup, no swimming pool, no concrete pads at sites. I've stayed at places that offered all this at a lower cost.2. Some sites are a muddy mess when it rains.3. Traffic and train noise is quite bad.Pros:1. Level gravel sites.2. Staff are very nice and helpful.

We stayed one night in our 5th wheel and would absolutely come back again. The staff were all super friendly, we had a minor issue and it was resolved quickly. Fun, family atmosphere run by family for families. Site was level and easy to get into. Bathrooms were very nice and shower was hot. They really care about their guests. Thank you for hosting us and we will see you again!!

The staff are very friendly and courteous. Live music on site every night. If you are a train lover you will love seeing and hearing menu of them daily. Close to the interstate but far enough not to be disturbed by that noise. We would stay here again.

First time camping in our new to us camper. Staff was extremely helpful! If you’re just traveling through or Nashville is your destination, I highly recommend this campground! Don’t forget to try the breakfast, one of my favorite features of this park!

We were on an extended RV trip and stayed here just a 2 nights to attend a wedding in the area. All staff that we encountered were friendly, the laundry was clean and easy to access, we met some kind people in the campground and enjoyed good conversation. However, the sites themselves are sorely lacking. It felt so uncomfortable, as we were literally smashed in like sardines. Our door opened out directly facing the RV next door. There wasn't a lick of privacy. It felt very tight.

I have a long story involving these guys. The sign on the front says, "Arrive as a guest, leave as family." It's true. My 18 year old son was diagnosed with a rare form of osteosarcoma in June 2023. We were happy to have been referred to the University of Vanderbilt for treatment and surgery but we had a problem. We are from south Alabama and needed a long term place to park a 5th wheel. We needed a home away from home for the 6 months of chemo and surgery. I stumbled onto the campground by mistake. I was actually looking for a mobile home park nearby but had been given the address of Grand Ole RV resort by mistake. I was frustrated as I stopped to figure out where we were. I heard a voice in my heart say, "Just go in and ask." I went into the office to inquire about the possibility. The young lady listened to my story intently taking notes the entire time. When I finished, she said "stay right here" and disappeared. Out came Tommy a minute later and the first words he said were "we will make this work." I barely held back the tears. The short version is we have been here for 6 months. We weren't here every night. Spent about 60 nights in the hospital. But I never worried about the 5th wheel. Tommy's words were, "You take care of your son, you don't need to worry about anything else." WHAT A RELIEF!!Yes, trains pass by and they are loud but honestly we love them. The clanking wheels remind me that America is working. There are people loading and unloading those cars and stuff is getting moved in great quantities. Engineers driving, tracks maintained, and freight moving. Yes, nostalgic I am but the sound of those diesels is inspiring to me. Yes, and they actually do have bluegrass every night. It was wonderful hearing the music.I write this review with mixed feelings. I am pulling out this weekend. No more trains. No more music. But we have climbed this mountain and my son is doing well and back on campus in Tuscaloosa. We have family in Nashville now.

We stayed here for our honeymoon in November! Sites are tight but you can't beat the price, location to Nashville, and live music at the campground! Many people mention the train being a major issue but it didn't bother us a bit. Thank you for a great stay!

All staff were very nice. Property right next to railroad tracks. Like they had kitchen for fresh made breakfast, it was good.

We got to stay here because our truck decided to breakdown just outside of Nashville. After we called around to find a Ram dealership that was open and would take our call, we then looked for a campground near the dealership and this was it! We ended up staying there one day shy of a week while we figured out how we were going to continue our journey to Florida as we needed to be there by Monday, January 8th.When we called, we told them our situation and asked if they had a spot available, they said yes, but we weren't still 100% sure on if we were coming yet so we didn't make the reservation at that point. After about 5 hours, we gave them a call back and told them we were coming and that we would be towed by a tow truck. When we pulled in, we were greeted by a worker who knew exactly who we were and took us straight to our spot. I wonder what gave that away. ?Since we didn't know how long we were going to be there, we started off with 4 nights and then after finding out more info on our truck and figuring out a way to get to Florida, we extended our stay and they also blocked off our site just in case our plans changed. Each time we went to the office to wait for an Uber, they asked us if there was any updates with the truck or our plans. Everyone there was kind and caring. The campground is just off of the interstate (sometimes you can hear that traffic but it's not bad at all). But, there is a train track right there. And I mean, right there. When a train goes by, it will shake the RV. You hear it coming and then you know it's there haha! If you're watching TV, it will mess up the reception as it's going by. ?They do have WiFi but it's not the best. We did have 5G, so that's what we used. We needed to fill one of our propane tanks and you can do that on-site. The spaces are kind of packed in there at all angles but each site still has some space. Some sites have grass in-between each site, while others have grass behind the sites with rock in-between if you're on the outer edge. They do have full hook-ups so we didn't need to use their bathrooms. The water there has no odor or bad taste so we filled a few of our 1 gal water jugs up with it and we are just about out of those. ? haha!Overall, this was a wonderful campground to get "stuck" at for about a week! ?

Great 4 night stay. Friendly and welcoming staff. Live music on the back porch was an added bonus. The site was level, gravel, and FHU. Only disappointment was there was not a 110 outlet to plug into...we keep a heater in our "garage" to ensure the water bay and lines do not freeze. There was only 30amp capabilities at our site which is all we need but like to dogbone down from 50 when we know we will be running heaters. But the 30amp breaker was plenty strong for our stay. Will visit again when in the Nashville area.

My first RV park. Booked in for a couple of nights on New Years Day. They were out front to greet me as I pulled up. Very friendly and accommodating on getting me all set up! Seemed great to me. Spot was level and comfortable. Still too chilly to spend much time outside so didn't do much on the campsite. They have some great food available which came in handy as I hadn't yet did any grocery shopping. Pizza was delish and breakfast was alright.
