Purchased a Acura MDX at Jackson location and this is by far the worst experience I've ever had. Customer service zero! 125+ inspection zero,! My first and last purchase with CarMax. Update felt like I needed to give a little backstory without being long-winded. I ordered the car online it was transferred to Jackson they supposedly do a 125 point inspection and then they call you when the car is ready. CarMax claims to restore everything to like new condition pictures show no defects unlike a lot of online dealerships it will actually circle any defects or highlight any defects. Me and my wife after working all day go to the location fill out all the paperwork upon inspecting the vehicle front bumper both sides and the middle have deep gashes. But they claim they didn't see that. So they put in a work order they will contact me and have it fixed. Round eight days of having the vehicle they say we can drop it off. My wife drops it off that Monday then tells me they didn't give her a loaner they don't do loaners for cosmetics is what the guy said. We go around a week and finally reach back out to them about a loaner We were supposed to get one from the get-go. A week goes by another week goes by still no vehicle. I tried calling My wife as well so on Saturday today I called corporate The lady sends a email then someone calls me within 5 minutes your car is ready for pickup today. Maybe that will give y'all a little insight into why I said I would not purchase another vehicle from CarMax

The process was pretty straightforward. No hiccups along the way. Sonya, the agent we dealt with onsite in Jackson was great! She laughed and joked right along with my niece and I. And so far I love my Lincoln Corsair. The two issues I did have:
1. They no longer deduct any fees I paid to have the vehicle moved - as in Chicago to Jackson- from the final cost of vehicle. ($250)
2. It took way too long to get new license plate- over a month. But when they did receive them I was out of town and it was not a problem to have them overnighted to an alternate location.

I had a good experience with CarMax, although the approval process was a bit complicated, but it was all worth it when I drove away in my brand new car, thank you CarMax.

The entire process was very convenient - mostly. I am disabled with mobility issues and was able to complete everything online over 2 days (I started the process at 2pm). I'm sure it could be finished in 1 day though. The Jackson, TN doesn't do home deliveries - I wasn't told this until the VERY end.
Excellent that they apply for the plates - even on a used car! Saves me a trip to Trenton!
Everyone was super nice, but consolidating to one call center was a bit aggravating, as I talked to different people all day (but they were able to get me4 back to the original sales person).

I had the most hardworking sales representative. Latresha Perry took her time and listened to me. She didn't rush the process and she worked diligently to find everything that I was looking for in my vehicle. With her help, I was able to find that vehicle. Ms. Perry's rating is a 10 out of 10.
However, the one thing that I didn't care for was another sales representative called me and stated that she was helping my representative by running my credit report. Under the impression of this is the practice of Carmax, I gave her permission. When everything came back, she was trying to get me to come in. I told her that I already have an appointment with Ms. Perry. At this moment she became awkward. This rep wouldn't speak and kept her distance when I arrived. I dont know if this is a normal practice of the representatives trying to steal clients from their coworkers, if it is it's very tacky and distasteful.

Pro: I did like the fact that you could get pre approval, loan funding and have vehicle shipped to a carmax near me to see and test drive.
Cons:
1) Even though I made appt in advance still had to wait about 40 mins for someone to let me test drive car
2) Even though they knew I was coming to look at vehicle and carmax says we will call you when car is ready as we are doing a quality check on vehicle before you get here, obviously no quality check was completed as vehicle was not clean and had some cosmetic things that should have been taken car of to sell a high end vehicle.
3) was told its a used vehicle, I understand that but these are things that should be taken care of at your 165 point inspection. To pay $70,000 for a vehicle and have to take care of these things myself is unacceptable
4) I was told can call and make appt after 10 days to discuss items. I live 1 hr 20 mins away not feasible for me to just come in later
5) description of vehicle said it had 3rd row seating which increases the value of the car so I think I over paid for vehicle. After getting car home found out it did not have the 3rd row seating
6) car only came with 1 key, have to pay $450 to get another key from land rover should not have to do with this price point vehicle
7) Have doubts about 165 point inspection, will have to pay land rover to inspect vehicle and do required services as I don't think anything was done
8) carmax auto check said no accident vehicle guaranteed, I ran a carfax after purchasing cause i saw a post to not trust autocheck, carfax shows accident on vehicle, so now I know I paid to much for vehicle
Update 9/15/24:
9) 2 tires continue to loose air, first time last week thought maybe a fluck but indicator can on again yesterday
10) obviously a recent service had not been completed as service needed light has already come on after 1400 miles

Worst car experience ever they either flat out lie to us four times or they do not know what they are doing. Do not go to the Carmax in Jackson take the extra drive and go to Memphis. They were 200% better.

I do it recommend then too anyone called about a truck got approved sent on all my documents payed the transfer fee and the day come when it’s time to go get the truck and they said that they needed more document bank information too see my pay mind you I sent my pay stuff and I told them that I don’t deposit all my money in the bank long story short they called and said that they have the right too chose not too do business with me and they chose not too so I would. Never recommend them too anyone

Carmax staff were super friendly & went above & beyond to make buying my car quick, stress free and easy. It was priced below the Carfax value and I'm loving my new to me Acura RDX.
