This hotel was really disappointing. So many things that were wrong—even dangerous. We had outlets in our room that didn’t have covers— just outlets sticking out. The fan in the bathroom didn’t work much at all and when it was turned on weird colored water started dripping out of it. Inside of the fridge was gross and obviously not cleaned. One of the emergency staircase doors on our floor was not able to be opened so we couldn’t go out that way in an emergency. Breakfast was pathetic: cold bacon, no juices at all, hardly any selection. We were lacking soap in our room and had to obtain this from the desk which was strange. Public areas and even our room had weird messy paint stains and smears on the floor, trim, etc. The weirdest thing was watching some workers dumping trash/building materials in a wooded area nearby as we were leaving. This “renovation” was a disaster and was inexcusable.

I am a truck driver in to visit family and aChoice hotel privilege member who stayed here last month. Today I was turned away for being a “local” as told by front desk. Great way to run a business turning away repeat business. I will be sure to tell everyone I know to stay away from choice hotels and sleep inn.

The stay was good. My only tiny complaint is that we left our car there and the shuttle took us to the airport. When we got back I tried for 45 minutes to get the hotel so they could come pick us back up and bring us to the car, however they never answered. I ended up getting an Uber. When I sent into the hotel to find out what happened the front desk clerk had not turned the phone off from her last phone call. I know for a fact it was off at least an hour. Not a big deal but something that shouldn't have happened.

The hotel is being renovated but that is no excuse for the rooms being filthy. We paid full price for a suite that was full of dust, the toilet had not been cleaned and was stocked with two quarter rolls of toilet paper. The contractor was using the passenger elevator and they didn't even bother to sweep it at the end of their day. The bed was comfortable.

Rooms: Room was on the small side for 2 beds but for a night stay it served its purpose. Clean room. Great value. Great breakfast.

The staff was very helpful, and I'm sure that this will be a great place to stay once renovations are complete.Having stayed at another Sleep Inn in Johnson City and having been quite impressed with that Sleep Inn, my spouse and I reserved a room at this hotel in Kingsport in late October 2023.As we walked to our non-smoking room at one end of the hotel, we noticed an odor like cigarette smoke; the odor became stronger the closer we walked toward our room. When we opened the door to our room, the smell was overwhelming. I returned to the Front Desk and explained the situation, requesting that we be moved to another room. The gentleman at the desk was very gracious and apologetic. He explained, however, that because the hotel was being renovated, making the first floor rooms unavailable, and because a tourist bus was arriving the same night as our stay, there was only a suite available - at an additional cost. He escorted me to the suite, stopping at our reserved room to confirm the odor I'd reported. The suite also had an odor, but not of cigarettes - more just "old" (like some really old buildings tend to smell). The suite was extremely dated as well, but I am particularly sensitive to cigarette smoke so agreed to the upgrade.Breakfast at this hotel was good.My husband had reserved our room through an email invite he'd received which he'd thought was from Sleep Inn. We learned from this hotel's manager that this was not the case. To accommodate our move the night before, she'd had to cancel our original reservation so that she could make a new reservation for the suite; so, the hotel had not charged for our original reservation. She explained that the reservation my husband had made was a third-party booking - that the third party issues a card (credit) to the hotel (for an amount LESS than what is charged to the reserving party) AND that the charges for such third-party reservations are not normally refundable. However, thanks to her mediation with the third-party representative we were refunded the fees for the original reservation.

We stayed here for one night as a stop traveling from Texas to Pennsylvania because of the location right off of I-81. We were tired of driving for the day so we needed a place to stop and I guess there was a race or something in Bristol because our options were very limited. Was my husband, two toddlers, and a dog so we needed something pet friendly with a closed off bedroom. I read mixed reviews before booking but I was optimistic. However, upon walking through the front door, I knew I made a mistake. There was a humid musty smell immediately. The carpet throughout the main parts of the hotel was old and dirty. When we got into the room, the air was turned off so it was hot and humid and had a weird smell. The couch and chair had stains all over them and were so worn out. I had to go get multiple extra sheets from the front desk to cover them with so I would feel comfortable with my kids or dog even sitting on them. Toddlers don’t like shoes and I’ll tell you that within 5 minutes of taking their shoes off their socks were BLACK on the bottom. If something of our kids fell in the floor I immediately washed it or put it away until I could clean it. The room was incredibly outdated, paint chips all over the walls, the stripping on the sides of the tables was coming off and just hanging there and my kids kept running into it, the remote felt like it had never been cleaned (thankfully I had alcohol wipes and Lysol spray for this entire room). The shower wasn’t even as nice as a hospital shower and the door didn’t close properly so water got everywhere when you showered. The bed was eh. Not comfortable or uncomfortable but the pillows seemed like they were very old - all of the filling was broken into pieces inside. Looked like someone made the bed in a hurry and I told myself that didn’t mean the sheets weren’t clean. There was a hair on top of the comforter that was not ours. Luckily I didn’t find any IN the bed. Overall the room just felt dirty and even after showering I still just didn’t feel clean at all in there. Needless to say we got up and left very early the next morning. This place needs a MAJOR overhaul and makeover. If the room hadn’t felt so dirty or I didn’t have my kids with me, it would have been okay for a night’s stay, but I would NOT take kids here and would probably never stay here again unless it was my only option. And even then I’d probably keep driving until I could find something else.

Came here for the Bristol Race and we decided to stay here. Pictures online are better than what you actually get. There is a musty dirty smell through out the hotel and the hall carpet was outdated and dirty not to mention the room we stayed in had stains all over the carpet, the shower door didn’t close properly so water goes all over the bathroom floor, the bed was ok but not as comfortable as nicer hotels that we have stayed in, entrance door into the hotel didn’t lock so any one could walk right in to the hotel, rooms are small and the entire hotel needs torn down and re-built because everything was so outdated! Will not stay here again and would not recommend to anyone.Noteworthy details: Don’t stay here!!

Overall the hotel was fine. It was pretty clean and the room was average size. But when I tried checking out in the morning it was a hassle to get a paper receipt printed off. I was told it was a Choice policy not to print receipts now. But I use a company credit card and I have to have a receipt to turn in when I get back. I have no problem at other Choice hotels getting a receipt printed. Here I was told they would make a one time exception and print a receipt. If this is the new policy for Choice I will have to stay elsewhere. And I stay at 40-50 hotels per year.

Had high hopes for this location given family had good experiences here, reviews are good overall, and the pictures looked nice, but our experience ended up kind of mid. I’ll start with the positives and work my way down. The location is convenient to the interstate and has good parking. Not much going at the exit but there’s a gas station, couple of fast food options, and a Cracker Barrel, or if you can’t make do with that there’s a bunch of other options the next exit down about 5-10min away, or just 15 minutes to most of Kingsport. The staff were friendly, professional, and helpful. The king bed was also comfy, although I could feel my sleeping partner move around, but I’m not expecting anything too fancy at this price point. Our room had a shower stall rather than a tub which could be seen as a positive or a negative and I’m not sure if that’s the case for all rooms. In any case I liked it and it was a nice size and didn’t feel cramped at all, although we did notice the door didn’t fully seal for water drainage so you have to be careful about water shooting, say, off your elbows and onto/under the door and out onto the bathroom floor. The furnishing overall seemed fairly up to date although we did notice while the lamps had extra plugs for electronics they didn’t have USB plugs. The facilities, hallway, and room also seemed clean, but the hall and especially room seemed to have a bit of a peculiar odor at least until we got used to it. I couldn’t tell if it was a bit musty or just an off-putting (to me) odor from cleaning products or some kind of scent spray they use, or possibly some combination of a smell being covered over by scent. The light over the toilet was also mostly shorted out although with the light from the shower stall and vanity area it was fine. But the most unpleasant thing was figuring out that the toilet had a minor leak when you flushed it. We discovered this later in the evening after unpacking so just wrapped a towel around the base and dealt with it rather than bother the staff about moving rooms but it didn’t leave a good impression.Safety: Rural/small town highway exit that seemed very safe.Walkability: There’s a sidewalk down to the gas station which also houses a Subway. If you’re feeling brave you could perhaps cross the 4 lane highway with the light to get to the Wendy’s and/or Cracker Barrel. Otherwise not much else going on here.

My room was disgusting. Had stains on comforter. Pee on the toilet and on the bathroom floor. Dried water or coffee stain near coffee pot. If I had not been on the road for so many hours I would have left right then. The guy who checked me in had no smile and sounded like a robot. The lady at check out was the best thing about this stay. She was very pleasant and helpful.Rooms: Nasty .. dirty comforter.. dirty bathroom.
