Our big floof had a nasty melanoma that grew on her mouth. Terrified at the idea of surgery and some unknowns at the time, we were referred to Blackford. Ended up being a positive experience. They were all compassionate, patient, and professional. Thanks Blackford.

Phenomenal Care - - 10 Star Services!!Our 3-Year old Australian Shepard Remington (Remi) required Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy (TPLO) Surgery on her right rear leg this past October.First, the entire staff at Blackford are absolutely professional and genuinely care about your pet. Second, the facility itself is top-notch and clean-clean-clean. I would have knee surgery here if needed. Third, from initial appointment for assessment through surgery, and post operative care, Blackford was absolutely the Best and alleviated a ton of stress knowing the best care possible was being provided to our Aussie. We followed the post operative program to the letter and it works very well, so much so that Remi progressed in her recovery faster than expected. Blackford was incredibly responsive to general questions and feedback on pictures of the surgical site emailed and texted throughout her recovery. We highly recommend Blackford, so much so that we would not go anywhere else. I also recommend the 8-week exam and x-rays are performed by Blackford as well due to the more local Vet offices may not be specialized or have the deep-experience required to fully assess how your pet healed, and clear your pet to resume normal activities.Blackford offers an optional pain treatment injection for the surgical area that lasts about 3-days. It's worth the investment for the comfort of your pet while the prescribed pain meds start working and peace of mind your pet is as pain free as possible during recovery.Blackford also offers a Lick-Sleeve that goes over the affected leg and helps reduce (doesn't eliminate the risk) the risk of infection from licking. For Remi, she tolerated the Lick-Sleeve very well and we didn't need to use the Cone which made for a much happier patient.Another optional item is the Help-em-Up Harness. This harness has a handle that rides between the shoulders, and another that rides just forward of the hips. Absolutely essential for helping your pet with any stairs or obstacles in those first few critical non-weight bearing weeks. Not only was this essential to help Remi get around, but it really helped us properly help her move around and care for her to keep the right leg non-weight bearing, and follow-the recovery program. For post-surgery medications, and recovery therapy procedures, we suggest the owner create a chart with all the meds to be administered (morning, noon, evening) to ensure staying on schedule with those, and spraying the incision site etc., and the required physical therapy that needs to be performed. The chart worked very well for us and made our lives much easier especially if there are more than one person taking care of Remi during the day.Again, 10-Stars as Blackford provided phenomenal treatment, the staff are very professional and genuinely care about your pet, the facility is top-notch and Clean, and their recovery program is very thorough to ensure the best recovery for your pet. Highly recommend the post-operative 3-day pain treatment, and just buy the Lick-Sleeve and Help-em-Up Harness, both you and your pet will really appreciate those as it makes for an easier, speedier, and more pain free recovery.Hope this helps with your Fur-Baby medical care decisions.Best regards,Keith

This facility, doctor and staff were all absolutely wonderful! Our little fur baby had ACL surgery less than 2 weeks ago and she is doing great! I loved how they allowed such personal touches and compassion they showed! Dr. Rebecca Hodshon was excellent and thorough! Thank you all!

Had a great experience with my great Dane mixed knee surgery. The staff was very detailed and helpful when describing after care for him. I can tell they did his surgery very carefully. He has little to no bruising and clean, neat stitches. They did follow up calls and answered every question I had!The price was shockingly high but you get what you pay for.

Great experience @ Blackford! My girl (black lab) had knee surgery in May and has recovered fully. Dr. Blackford was really personal before surgery and explained everything.

Such amazing surgeons, staff, after care, you name it. They did a TPLO on my Petunia, a tripaw pittie and on her only rear leg. 5 weeks post op, it couldnt have gone better. Pre surgery videos, post therapy portal, absolute everything you need.

My dog had an adenoma show up and I was on pins and needles about it. Blackford was completely available to discuss and transparent about their practices and what essentially to expect, which made me feel a bit more comfortable. Actually going into the practice for the day surgery my dog needed, it became quickly apparent that the same vibe was present in person as well. There is a kind of calm in their office. The two people at their front desk seemed to be very patient and friendly; in a sincere way, seemingly more of their respective beings than any conscious notion of customer service. All of it really just helped lighten the weight of the day; of the moment.Dr. Hodshon took care of my dog and the service was first class and first rate. As patient as the front desk, taking all the necessary time to answer every question, but also I found Dr. Hodshon to seem genuinely compassionate toward my dog. They felt more like a casual acquaintance than someone just trying to get through the work day. I got the sense that they enjoyed their work and knew it well; as though it were second nature to them.My dog also required a little bit of extra at home maintenance after surgery and Dr. Hodshon was in regular reciprocal contact at every step of the way until the regimen could be relaxed. Just more evidence of their conviction and care. One final thing of note: my dog's regular vet tried to sell me on the idea that I should have them do a chest xray on my dog prior to surgery, telling me that Blackford would surely require it and it would be much more expensive with them. Well Blackford was very up front with their prices on the phone and their cost for the xray was about half of what my vet tried to charge me. Furthermore, Blackford realized I didnt even need that xray and so didnt try to sell me on it. In other words they were honest and non aggressive. (And I got the xray anyway because my dog had never had one before and obviously it was going to be cheaper with Blackford then and there than with my regular vet later.)Anyway, I feel my experience there was comfortable and genuine and we are fortunate to have this practice, as well as Dr. Hodshon, in our city.

I'm so thankful they were able to perform surgery on my best friend and get his leg in the right direction to heal properly! They have a wonderful facility and staff members that really show they care about their patients as if they were their own pets. I'd give them 10 stars if it were a rating.
