The only place we could find during the recent snowstorm with snow shovels in stock! The two gentlemen who helped us were just superbly kind and helpful. We called ahead to make sure they still had some in stock and they took the initiative to put a shovel aside for us for when we got there. They even educated us a little on issues we might run into with each type of shovel and what products would help with those, and not at all in an upsalesy, pushy way. I regret not getting their names. Customer service seems like a lost art sometimes, and these guys nailed it.

Bought a Honda mower 4 months ago at the Bearden location after doing some research on best walk behind mowers. While I understand Honda's can cost a little more than competitors I was happy with purchase until recently when the back left wheel would not work at all while mowing. I was informed day of purchase any parts, repairs etc. for the mower would take place at the West location. My wife took it there today and was told they no longer repair Honda mowers and sent her to a place out past Watt Rd. She text me that she thought was in right place and did not feel to comfortable about the situation. So I called the Bearden location and talked to a Manager. I explained the entire story and how I was not happy at all about it. He did apologize and said the owners decided in May to stop with the service and that it was in the local newspaper and news that this was going to happen. Really? The news is going to report that Mayo is no longer going to repair Honda mowers? If so, I never saw that story on any of the local channels. Bottom line, I will never buy anything else from this place. I support local businesses but not this place anymore. The manager didn't care and from what I gathered the owners don't either. The Powell location closed so maybe it's inevitable the others will too. Do not buy at Mayo!

*Edit: Undeterred by the cashier's lack of product knowledge or customer service skills, I moved on to my next stop of the day, Stanley's Greenhouse where a friendly staff member assisted me with recommendations for local plants that enjoy a moist environment. Better service, better price, better plants, better selection. Take the time to go south for your gardening needs.*Pros: Gorgeous products, Beautiful Store, and I'm sure you receive wonderful service if you look like their target market, which is apparently above my tax bracket.Cons: after being followed around the store to make sure I wasn't stealing anything I felt I should let someone know I'm an actual gardener, not here to steal the "valuable potting soil".I approached the blonde woman working the cash register and after getting her attention, I had some questions about what kinds of plants would work in an aquaponics set up. She said the gardener isn't here, but before I could get the words, "That's fine, I'm looking for azaleas," out of my mouth she said in a disgusted tone, "We don't sell anything that would grow in a fish tank here." "Right, I'm building a raised bed with acidic soil that drains..." "WE DONT SELL ANYTHING THAT WOULD GROW IN A FISH TANK HERE."I then left to go examine the gorgeous Azaleas for sale that I will now be purchasing somewhere else.

Great local business. I've done business with Mayos for the last 2 decades and have always had great experiences. The Mayo family is honorable and has always been great to work with.

This place was so expensive, people were rude when we walked in no one said anything to us except one lady. Didn’t ask if we needed help. Their plant selection was terrible ? not healthily, I will say not bad for their potting soil. But there atmosphere was awful just like their plants .

I wanted to stop in and see this garden center, first time for my husband and I. Not impressed, had to ask cashier if someone could answer questions about a DR Mulcher, unfortunately the 5 men standing around looked at us. Took our business elsewhere.

We went in yesterday to just browse and had 3 people ask us if we needed help. D took a lot of time to explain the details of the outdoor furniture, pricing and care. We are not quite ready to purchase yet but will definitely shop here. Love also that this is a local family owned business.

I'm not sure where these negative reviews are coming from, especially about the equipment sales department. I purchased a new Scag mower from them, for a great price, and the service from beginning to end was top-notch. The store manager, the equipment salesman Wayne, and even the head cashier (or maybe owner, I couldn't tell) were all super nice and knowledgeable. They went above and beyond to make sure I got the equipment I wanted quickly and even delivered next day. The store was clean and well-kempt. 5/5 we'll be back.

I love Mayo garden center, especially the Bearden location. Especially when they get houseplant shipments in. I recently got a beautifully colored pink Princess Philodendron and a Rhaphidophora Cryptantha. I’ve gotten some nice Hoyas there as well. Most recently a Hoya longifolia aka shepherdii. I also love to get my clear plastic drainage trays there. They do have a bunch of outdoor plants, but I only know houseplants. Also the employees are friendly. Since their houseplant shipments are a bit further apart than some of the local nurseries, I call and ask if they’ve gotten houseplants in recently before I go. 10/10 recommend.

I took a job with Mayo in the service department at the west location. I fully understood that I was to work Saturdays. The Friday before I started I was able to connect with one of my 2 daughters and it's been 2 years since I've had time with them. Knowing that I was supposed to work Saturdays my 2nd day there I simply asked si if I could have one Saturday that I could plan to see my daughters which are 6 which are 6 hours away round trip. I was told by the owner and the service manager absolutely is absolutely not. I never had a chance to get them to understand that my children live a little distance away distance away and family is supposed to mean everything as Mayo has stood 140 years by this. I've never had a chance to engage in a professional conversation to see about one Saturday. The fact that everybody else that is scheduled for Saturday's off cannot understand to give a CO worker one saturday that I could plan ahead. The demeaning way I was treated by the owner and the service manager should never have happened in any workplace.I approached the service manager just to engage in a possible way to get one Saturday in the near future to plan getting my children back into my life. As I approached the service manager he cussed me from one side all the way down my other side as I walked away I had a lather of cussing tirade towards me as I walked out from being fired for just asking for one Saturday.I very much enjoyed the 1 and a 1/2 day I work there as I met some very nice customers that stated they weren't treated as good as I treated them. This day and time of having employee shortages I don't think it's fair for a family run business to allow this kind of treatment toward people who come to work for them. There is no use for this type of bully treatment by an employer. Especially for a dad trying to make arrangements to be in my 2 daughters lives as well as my son and grandson. If I can break through the 1st layer I may get all 4.I've never been so humiliated in my life and I just don't understand this whole new way of employer abuse.

I bought almost $2000 in chainsaw and chainsaw accessories and nearly walked out when the rep was so rude to me. But i needed it that day SO after purchasing 1 Stihl 194t, 1 Shindawa 592 and 2 Stihl Pole Saws (none of which were started for me as per the norm at every store i use). Well needless to say both handsaws had carb issues so i tried to bring them back and the OWNER told me the Stihl had been used too much and called me a liar. (The194t comes with a usb port that diagnoses, self adjusts AND THE KICKER! Shows run time!) And his answer to me was verbatim "its not my job to know these things..1/5 customer service1/5 customer resolve1/5 professional demeanorGO SOMEWHERE ELSE
