i was here the other day and the cashier gave me back incorrect change then when i went back to tell her she got mad and was arguing with me even after showing her the receipt and pointing out how she messed up and doing the math on a calculator. then the next day when we came back she got mad at me for filing a complaint with corporate and started arguing again about how i should have “just gone to the manager” mrs. vernida is the worst and extremely argumentative and disrespectful

They closed during a thunderstorm....ridiculous. Waist of my time, I just went down the street to the other dollar general that was actually open. Pathetic customer service.

I frequently shop at this location. Always have great interaction with the cashiers. However recently a new cashier has joined the store and she is racially bias. On one occasion she insisted a African American customer use self check out when there was no one in her line. (He was purchasing cigarettes) she never greets her a.a customers or Hispanic customers during check out. Everyone else working there have been great.

Arrived at exactly 9:45 p.m Xmas eve. Should have had at least 10min. to run in & grab the 1 thing I needed. Instead the doors were Already locked & workers were inside having their own little Xmas party. They (she) refused to let me in giving me nothing but attitude & talking to me like I’m a piece of garbage and how dare I interrupt what they’ve got going on and expect to be allowed in to shop during business hours! Besides closing up Several minutes early, which maybe this is allowed under workers discretion, it would have been great if they (she) would have had some holiday spirit & help somebody out that wasn’t asking for a kidney! Guess I just expect too much?! Also, 4 other vehicles pulled up while I was there (less than 5min) and I let them know they had already locked the doors. No telling how many others pulled up thinking they had “10min” before posted closing time hit?

The young man with pony tail of dreads working tonight November 20th 2024 was down right awful . My fiance stopped to pick up some odds and ends for the next couple of days. He proceeds to follow my fiance around the store. When he went to check out the employee told hi. To stop taking things out of the basket my fiance asked to purchase cigarettes he told him the brand and type and the employee proceeds to grab anything but the requested brand and then proceeds to tell my fiance he isn't trying to sell any cigarettes tonight. He then held them over his shoulder and told my fiance he could not have them until he made sure the payment went through because he didn't look like he could afford what he was buying. My fiance at that point left the items and walked out due to absolute disrespectful behavior. Get your employees under control. It's the worst guest experience we have ever had with dg and we shop here regularly. We will be reaching out and submitting a formal complaint with his name and store number .

Rude older lady gave me a hard time for wanting a bag for my 4 items after trying to "assume" I didn't want one. When I notified her that I did want a bag she said under her breath "People come in buying 1 thing think they need a bag". Like chill out lady I need to walk home with my stuff.

There’s only one checkout that’s not self checkout an the last two times they wouldn’t use it and had a clerk do the self checkout. Very inconvenient. Not the employees’ fault- it’s corporate boneheads.

Since it’s all self checkout now there’s basically nobody there to help. They’re either in the back or outside smoking cigarettes. More people are going to walk out and not pay for certain items because there is nobody around to help them. Good luck fixing that.

Stopped in a grab a couple of things only to find the man that was supposed to be the cashier pacing around the front on his phone. He refused to do any work and continuedhis personal phone call. As I left I told another worker outside what happened and she came in and checked me out. That other worker needs to be fired. His behavior was ridiculous.

I have shopped here since 2012 when I moved into the area and largely have enjoyed my experiences. I have literally given this store THOUSANDS in business over the years and that’s not an exaggeration.The last few months the quality of EVERYTHING has went down and I’ve found myself frequenting there less and less. Then after encountering a completely useless and VERY RUDE employee tonight (shorter brown haired white woman with glasses) on 9/10/23 at 9:15 I will NEVER spend another red cent here. The sad part is, I think she was actually in charge of the place.I took my basket to the self checkout and remembered I left my debit card at home so I needed to be clerked through a line with an actual human clerk. As usual, there was no one to be found anywhere except for this nightmare of a woman who was closing out one of the checkout stations (that’s why I assume she’s a manager or shift leader). I VERY POLITELY asked if she could ring up my order at the cash line explaining I didn’t have my card on me. I had about 45 dollars in goods so it wasn’t a big chore (less than or around 20 items). She comes over to the register and literally throws down the rolls of coins she was carrying in front of me in a very rude fashion. I started to just walk out, but I bit my tongue and said “don’t get mad at me, I’m just trying to buy a few things” thinking she would realize that she was acting pretty unprofessional. I mean I’m giving the store money if she doesn’t want my money I’ll take it somewhere else! That’s when she started snatching things off the counter and out of my cart and ringing them up and talking rudely under her breath (cursing at me I’m sure for having the gall to ask her to actually do her job). She rings me up and hands me my change without saying anything. Literally nothing, much less a “thank you”.The younger version of me would have stooped to her level and outdone her by telling her what I really thought of her using salty language and calling her choice words. But the older, mellower version of me decided to just write this review and let Dollar General at 541 Stewart’s Ferry Pike know that I will NEVER under any circumstances return to your once efficient and formerly great store. There’s just too many options and life’s to short to put up with employees who act like this. Anyone reading this don’t waste your time dealing with people like her!

Went for the first time to this location to buy and made a bad impression as a business...it seemed that the only helpful person there to assist and was working was a young lady maria while the other older ladies where literally just standing around gossiping watching her stock shelves when they had people waiting to be helped ?.
