The man (owner?) couldn't have made me feel more uncomfortable keeping a constant eye as I self-consciously walked around. Very unsettling creepy and unfriendly. Won't return.

If you love books and especially old books, this is THE place to go! I live in Texas and had stopped by Mr Elders’ store while visiting some friends in Nashville. Wow! This was an amazing place! I was specifically looking for some books to help my mom with her genealogy search for our family in TN. He was very helpful and just a wealth of knowledge! I could have talked with him for hours! He truly knows his books! He was able to help me find several books that included my family. One of them even included several pictures of my grandfather and several other folks in our family! I highly recommend stopping by this place. However, be sure to allow PLENTY OF TIME for your visit, as their is SO MUCH to enjoy!! Thank you Mr Elder for an awesome time. It was a true pleasure to talk with you!!

This bookstore is a gem as rare as the books it houses. From newer used books to rare and antiquarian, there are treasures for just about any interest. The owner, Mr Elder, does demand some level of reverence and respect for the weight of the words housed in these pages and on these shelves (be quiet, and no cell phone use allowed, hence why I have no pictures inside the store). I found him to be very friendly and helpful after I took some time to quietly browse and show my respect for the store and the masterpieces within. He was very reasonable and even made a unique suggestion for me.I walked away with an 1855 Bible, an 1882 book on ministry, a commentary set, and a rare copy of Homer's Iliad. It was a great day and I'll be back plenty.

If you like books and treasure hunts, this is the place for you. We went expecting a short visit and left after 4hrs. So much to look through we didn't have time to go through it all. Will definitely be making regular visits from now on. The owner was very friendly and couldn't have been more helpful. Thank you!

Wish there was an option to give zero stars. Owner is very rude towards potential customers. Has zero compassion towards people with special needs. Our 11 year old son was a little loud and I asked if he could sit in a chair to help calm him so my other son could look. He said we could use the chair but not for the loud one, referring to our special needs son. The owner told us there was a no children policy, they were trying to run a business. We were there looking for a $550 book along with a few others for our 13 year old historian son that they have on their website. Please do yourself a favor and stay away from this business. They need to work on their customer service skills.

Wonderful store. If you like old & rare books, this is the place to go to. Everything from Special Edition hardcovers of the Classics, to more hidden gems, they have it all. I could spend hours there. If you're a hardcore bibliophile looking to expand your library or a lover of history, you cannot pass this store up.

I am a bit of an antiquarian and I was looking everywhere for this book about my ancestor's stomping ground and their neighbors in Nashville and Elder's bookstore was the place. While I live all the way in California. And made my purchased over the phone. The service was great. And the Book that was mailed was in perfect condition. I can not recommend this place enough. If I am ever on that side of the world I will definitely stop by. Until than I only encourage people living nearby to support Elder's bookstore.

Amazing collection, but the political messages all over the store are very off-putting and made me so uncomfortable I couldn’t stay. Call me a snowflake, I guess?

Mr Elder has a huge selection of books new and old, with a wealth of knowledge about our history.
