Great place to get involved in helping in the community and giving time back to those in need as a volunteer and to donate to help.

All I'm hearing is how great it is a place to volunteer or work, I want to know the quality of services provided to the needy?! We don't want to eat trash or be given out of date food or food that no one else would ever eat! Can I get some info or reviews from people you all supposedly "help"?

Helped me out years ago when my son was a baby and I only had temporary work & no child support yet. These contributions of food kept us alive thru the hard times. God bless Second Harvest Food Bank. ?P.S. In later years I became a contributor to help others in their hard times ?

I wish we had them in every city! Don’t forget to use their bins at the entrances of Kroger stores to donate food.

I recently contacted the health department in regards to the Samaritan House 1041 28th Ave N, Nashville, TN 37208 about rats. The Health Department came out inspected and sprayed. I will like to say thank you to them for this. This organization, Samaritan House feeds the homeless in the community. For I'm grateful for their services I find that they are not open daily. It will be nice to have some friendly faces and giving hearts to serve the homeless at the Samaritan House. Thanks! :)

When recently visiting Nashville, I had the opportunity to participate in a cooperative community service project between the University of Louisville and Texas A&M University. This project took place at Second Harvest before the Music City Bowl.

I've been having some financial issues, so yesterday I called the main number for 2nd Harvest and inquired about picking up an "emergency food box". I was given an address on Trousdale that I could go to right away to pick up some supplemental groceries. After waiting outside at that location, knocking on the door and calling the home office for roughly an hour, I finally gave up and left. I emailed someone at the home office to ask if they could guide me to another location for assistance. I was directed to their website and found a location on Paragon Mills near me. I went at the appropriate time and nobody was there. I called the home office and the Salvation Army office several times, knocked on the door and finally called the home office again to try and find somewhere to find an "emergency food box". I was hung up on several times, then finally told by a woman who curtly answered the phone that she didn't know of a place I could go and that I had exhausted my options. I inquired about the website and told that their partner agencies didn't always alert them when they were closing, but that was the only place to get answers. It's a good thing I'm not starving to death AND with friends like that, who needs enemies. ?

I delivered some product that was an overage from a Nestlé delivery. They got me in and out with smiles on their faces
