They aren’t truthful about their memberships. Moved out of state and provided new address and won’t let you cancel. It costs $4000 to get out of a 3 year contract and they won’t let you get out of it. The people that sign you up tell you that you can get out of a contract by paying $195 which is ridiculous, but $4000 for leaving a gym. So sad. It was such a nice gym, too. They don’t tell you the truth.

Synopsis: An objectively accurate and honest rating, IMO.Briefly, the National Fitness Center in Oak Ridge, TN, can be summarized as an absolute disingenuous money-grab/personal information shake-down from the instant you walk in the front door until you leave. Barring any hyperbole, my visit to this establishment, albeit brief, was a complete waste of my time time. Background: Novice/inexperienced about best exercise practices, especially in the gym setting, so I was specifically seeking a personal trainer to get things started and to establish a safe/effective routine.Details: Overall, staff was presumptuous and aggressively sales-driven. Upon entry, my personal ID card (driver's license) was taken and filed away in exchange for tablet, which requested too much personal information for account creation (i.e., typical details + photo of face and some other items). Eventually, a sales representative called me into his office whereby, the sales pitch was talked at me for a while until I gained the confidence to interject so I could explain my intentions and excuse myself due to the ill-suited fit. Conclusion: Don't bother!

Love the facility but the billing dept is awful! Called to update my card info & the person I spoke with was rude and constantly interrupting me.

Beware. The manager dude from Hawaii will lie to you. I joined while working in Oak Ridge and specifically ask about canceling before signing anything. He told me no problem (he wouldn't look at me when he said it tho). The "contracts" are turned over to a bank that does not want to cancel for any reason. She wanted proof of a "new permanent residence" and it had to be "verified". I travel with my work and I'm not even in Tennessee anymore but they still take the money out of my account. This was all explained up front. What people will do for a few dollars nowadays.

The women’s room hasn’t had AC forover two months. I spoke to someone two weeks ago and nothing happened. I spoke to the women working out in the room (there were a lot) today and they said they had all mentioned it to the staff and the managers. One of them spoke to the general manager. If this were another room instead of the women’s room, I came help but think this problem would have already been fixed. Not returning until this is remedied and if it isn’t remedied then I’m cancelling my membership.

The women's only room AC needs fixed. It's been at least two months now. The highest temp I've seen so far is 77 degrees...get it together NFC

I've been going for a couple of months now and just wanted to share my thoughts. Specifically to the oak ridge location. It's a nice gym, and the employees all seem friendly. For the price, it's still a bit questionable... One of our particular issues is with daycare hours. Day care, during week days, is split 8-12 and 4-8. There is no day care from 12-4 which would be most convenient for my gf who would like to go when she is off. Also, for weekends, it's only 8-12 on Saturday, no later hours or anything on Sunday. If I had to make a request for anything, it would be to have more available day care hours. The other thing I wanted to note is maintenance. I've noticed around the upstairs track area, ceiling tiles missing, or after/while it's raining, buckets are usually placed to catch leaking water. Also, in the shower area of the men's room, the ceiling vent is absolutely covered in lint. It just makes me question the amount of cleaning that's done in the locker rooms at all. Again, for what even a basic membership cost, I wish maintenance could be better.Physical training is $50 for 1/2 hour, which also feels steep to me.Finally, as I'm sure you will read in other reviews, I wish canceling was an easier process. It's a minimum of 1 year membership and there is hoops to jump through to do so. There's no ability to pause a membership due to health/injury reasons if you are out for a month or so.This is just my honest feedback, better day care hours and better maintenance would really make this gym the premium gym it's built to be.

I've been a member here for about a year and a half. Even at its busiest, there's still plenty of opportunities to complete your routines. Friendly staff and a good vibe from everyone, body builders to beginners.

Hot tub ?.Originally I had posted a 5 star review. However recently I was met with passive agressive confrontation and unprofessionalism from the female manager at oak ridge. For weeks now we have had to be read a message "Add your kids." We are co parenting and only have them partial time. We knew we had them when we joined. We pay for their one day passes to come, equivalting to $30 each time they come which is approximately once every couple of months. This carries the impression of business hazing, by attempting to annoy us until we cave and spend extra money, unethical is another term that is earned.I am solidly considering if my membership will be renewed at this point. I requested to have the message removed, apparently "it stays forever and only corporate can remove it." Then, when the issue was brought to the gyms manager for resolution, it was deemed appropriate to turn this opportunity into a sales pitch. This is unacceptable and poor business practice. For what we pay at these facilities, problems should equal resolution, not another opportunity for a new sale. On top of not being heard from the staff, the message remains. Almost as a petty, passive agressive way to annoy us into submission.I am doubtful we will be paying for our children to come here to swim considering all the other options available that offer a hassle-free experience. As well as impacting our decision to renew our contract once over. It goes without saying, but we once raved about NFC to our friends, family, and coworkers however this infraction has changed the dynamic of how we feel.I am disappointed that is is allowed and encouraged by a company of such great report within the communitiy. It is an expensive membership in the first place to now have to deal with this on top of that???

Awesome local gym in Oak Ridge. Love the childcare area and appreciate the staff. They care about kids and do extra things like Parents Day Out and arts/crafts. Instructors are excellent. Grant at front desk is always friendly and professional. Mags is doing a good job managing the gym, he cares about the staff and members, and goes out of his way to make the gym atmosphere really welcoming.A new thing, but I really appreciated that the gym opened its doors to our local 7-9 years old soccer girls this winter season, thanks Cassie and Linda for helping to organize. It allowed the girls to have extra practice on a season they typically wouldn’t have that support. Thank you so much NFC!!!! Not surprised by their support, they also host community family events like the kids “triathlon” and trunk or treats. One of the best businesses that add to the community in Oak Ridge for sure!

A little pricey but the staff is amazing and the facilities are always clean. Beau is always at the front counter with a smile ready to pump me up for my workout. Lots of class opportunities that come with the membership. Pool, Hot tub, and Saunas are the best for post workout too.

They really need to work on front of house. Bald, middle-aged man at desk didn't even acknowledge when my seven year old spoke to him. Stark contrast from great service at Walbrook. Here, no greetings, unless it's a fussing about not scanning cards, but no pleasantries, goodbyes, thank you's, etc. Management needs an overhaul here. Facilities are ok.

Wanted to tour the facility before I signed anything. They wanted me to fill out paper work and give them my license just for a tour, Ridiculous. I have belonged to dozens of gyms and have never had a hard time touring a facility like this. I came straight from work with pants and button shirt so it was not like I showed up in athletic clothing and planned to get some trining in....

I heard SO many good things about Joanna and the stretching sessions that I had to try it. And she did not disappoint! She walked me through each gentle stretch and explained the many benefits. The tone was set with a fireplace ? and relaxing music. I walked away feeling awesome. I highly recommend it! Joanna is very experienced and knowledgeable! Check her out!
