September 2025 by Jasmine Linsey
I had a passport appointment scheduled for 9:00 am on September 3, 2025, at the United States Post Office located at 14695 HWY 194 in Oakland, Tennessee, 38060. I arrived early to my appointment as instructed, but the service was incredibly poor.
When I informed the employee that I had an appointment for 9 am, she claimed that it would only take a minute because she was counting the mail. However, when I inquired about the duration of a minute, she responded that it was approximately an hour. I explained that I had booked this appointment a week in advance and had driven an hour to reach the post office because I urgently needed my passport. Despite my explanation, she became irate and stated that she was busy and could not accommodate my scheduled appointment.
When I asked for her manager’s name, she informed me that she was the manager herself. When I requested a number to lodge a complaint, she advised me to look it up online. As she walked away from the front counter, she only mentioned her name as Turner.
This was the most unpleasant experience I have ever had at any United States Post Office. Her behavior was extremely rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful.

Kayla was working today by herself. We came in for a scheduled passport appointment. She truly is the most pleasant and helpful government employee we have ever encountered and there were several people waiting. She deserves a big raise!

Kala was the clerk on duty yesterday. I walked in needing to send off my passport renewal. Kala was the nicest and most professional postal work that I’ve seen in a long time. Just want to say thank you for your dedication and wanting to do a good job.

I would give negative 10 stars if I could. Have been waiting since Sept 2nd 2024 for help with our mailbox. Usps here in oakland Tn is absolutely horrible. Sometimes 3-4 weeks without mail. Never recieved packages that I have to call the companies and tell them I've never received what they have proof of being dropped off at usps. EVERYONE AT THIS LOCATION SHOULD BE FIRED FROM THEIR JOB...

Needed my heart medication. Paid $138 for sat delivery. They just decided not to deliver it. Spent the night in the hospital. How can these people even have jobs? The incompetence is staggering. When I tracked package on sat the website posted out for delivery. This has been an awful experience. Why are these people not being held accountable?

Closes at 3:30 not 4:30. More disappointed each time I go there for service.

This post office is closed every time I try to come do business when their hours show 4:30. Doesn’t matter if I get here at 4, 2:30, 3:00. They are closed every single time. I do not understand when it became ok to just make up the hours to be worked in a federal establishment. It’s infuriating for those of us who work 40+ hours a week and get a free minute on a break to come take care of mailing. I am consistently disappointed in the level of service provided in this small town by government employees, town or not. It’s honestly disheartening and extremely frustrating when you have limited time without a toddler to get any level of business taken care of.

Terrible service. They cancel scheduled passport appointments with no explanation other than that they are understaffed. Passports are time sensitive and most places are booked out months in advance. Not to mention you have taken off work to go to this appointment just find out it has been canceled. Unacceptable.

If I could give them no stars , that is exactly what they would get. How do you only have one worker for the building serving patrons? Oakland and the postal service should be ashamed . This community has enlarged tremendously, and they failed to accommodate the expansion of residents . Just horrible .

DOESNT EVEN DESERVE 1 STAR. Don’t waste your time here, the fact that the workers are employed “FEDERALLY” is an absolute joke. It’s scarier to know that they handle some extremely sensitive mail & yet they’re able to pick and choose their own hours. You’re better off driving to the Somerville, Eads or Arlington post office. This place is sickening.
