It is surprising all the ethnic eateries that were once there were “permanently closed”.. and only options were pizza, burgers and fries so I had to buy some groceries to cook at the camper. The water smelled of sulfur so I had to bathe using wipes after the second day, water froze and heater stopped working at night in the camper and we had the use the gas stove to keep us warm which is apparently just a “mountain experience”. Trump stores every 3 blocks and the land was completely isolated besides your occasional distillery, gas station and antique store with literally only republican primary signs, confederate flags, and not a single person of color or democratic as an option to vote as a primary for any type of local government authority. There were about 3 main roads in Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg where all the main attractions were. I saw maybe 4/5 POC there which was slightly unnerving. My boyfriend got salmonella at the Dixie stampede which had racist implications and was apparently changed from a civil war theme to “north v south” in which the south was deliberately made the winning team (and that food was awful, overpriced and unseasoned) Best places to visit there are just attractions that have to do with the smoky mountains, the alpaca farm and the alpine coasters. Maybe would’ve been more fun in the summer with zip-lining and white water rafting. And every person I interacted with was short, snappy, rude, and made an obnoxious face when I used basic manners and slowly backed away when they were close to me.

Would not recommend anyone to stay there very few towels the pillows in my room or taken from Holiday Inn that's what the tag said on the pillows no carpet on the floor people that was there and also me complained about the squeaky bed spiderwebs outside the door on the banister say it's dog friendly but when you get there there's a $25 daily charge for your animal ask for more towels at 11 a.m. didn't get them until 3 p.m. the breakfast is a joke do not use the coffee maker in the room it's not clean at all the manager of the hotel manager what's friendly at all talk to other people kids disrespectful just not a people's person please do not ever stay there only if it's a dying emergency and I didn't want to give them a store I had to to put down my comment good luck

Although the entire tourist trap of a little city is open for indoor activities, the visitors center is closed indefinitely due to COVID.

Always so friendly and helpful when I call. If they don't have the answer, they will find out and call you back. Even though they probably get the same questions over and over, they are polite and listen to the caller.

Great place for info. Very personable staff....just ask them what you're wanting to do or see.Tons of brochures.Don't miss out on the "nature" that the area has to offer. Hikes, history (Cades Cove, one of my favorites because it offers views, wildlife, history and trails you can walk/hike) HIGHLY recommended.Enjoy your stay, we always do. (Except for the traffic, bit that's another story.
