We stopped by this Gem Mine and another. We paid more at this mine, but I think my soon enjoyed this one more as well. (Almost 11 year old). I also think he received better gems.

We had kids aged 6, 7, 12, 14, 17 and 18 plus myself and my wife. Everyone had a blast so I had to stop on the way home to grab a mystery bucket to go. Really cool experience, easy parking in the rear, and walking distance to a bunch of cool stuff.

Was watched closely the entire time by the large male worker. Felt very uncomfortable; enough to write a google review which is personally rare.

Paulette and I believe he was the Manager of the store we absolutely the nicest people. We had an issue with a watch we purchased the day before next door at the Three Bears.Three Bears was very gracious to give us a refund because the manufacturer said, they wouldn't stand behind the product. They didn't have anything to replace it so sent us next door to the gem mine and again, we were take care of like King and Queen. Thank you all so much. We will definitely be back

We have gone to this particular gem mining every time we come to the mountains, for 10+ years. We came before it got all the enclosure and before the shops around it closed in on it. We came when the people who worked there liked what they were doing. All of the employees seemed like they were mad they were there and seemed very inconvenienced by our presence. We bought a $65 treasure hunter bucket and the employee we paid for the bucket ignored us after we paid for it. We went inside with 5 anxious little girls and the people behind the desks dumped their treasures quickly identified 3-5 of their treasures and when asked about the others my girls were told we don’t identify those it would take too long. They 3 employees behind the desk all but argued over whose turn it was. And one got up and left and stated it wasn’t her turn the girls should wait on the other two rock identifiers. We were repeatedly pushed to cut and process their gems. And they seemed annoyed we wouldn’t. Some of the fossils from the buckets still had the made in Mexico/China stickers on them. I realize the fossils aren’t real but can we not at least remove the stickers and keep up the illusion for small children. I don’t know what happened to this place. The outside looks nice but the inside, the employees, are so much worse off.

What a great place for a family outing and fun for the whole family!! The great experience at this place is that everybody gets involved from tiny tots to grandparents and everyone in between. You start off by walking inside and picking your bucket. They start off at $35 and go up from there. You then move onto picking a spot to start mining gemstone, minerals, fossils, arrowheads, shark teeth, and shells. You would think you’re getting little slivers or the junk pieces of the stones but you were getting beautiful stones that are large chunks!! We were definitely surprised at the size and amount of gemstones that we received in our bucket. When you have finished you put all of your mining items in a bag and take it to The back room, where a certified gemologist will tell you exactly what you have, and where each one will come from. Then you have the option to have your own mind, gemstones, cut, polished, and placed into jewelry or just as loose stones. They have a great variety to show you what each stone will look like once it’s cut and polished, and then an extensive selection of jewelry you can have made for your gemstone. We worked with Kelly, who was just such a delight to work with. She really took her time with us, she shared her knowledge with us and was able to answer every question, and was really able sit there and go step-by-step with us. Kelly also showed patience and kindness when it came to our very rowdy children. We have two boys who were all about the gem mining and learning about the stones and she was so excited to sit there and teach them and give that same enthusiasm right back to them.We enjoyed our time at the gemstone mine that we came back three times during our week long stay. Our kids loved it. Our nephews loved it. Grandma loved watching the children just have a blast and it doesn’t hurt that maybe Mom’s gets a piece of custom jewelry in the end! This is a must do for anyone who comes to the area!! The entire store and all employees make the store feel very welcoming and homey. You can tell they really care about your experience and making it memorable for you. We will definitely be back!!Also those who are Big Brother fans like myself, Red from season 25 is constantly in store! I was able to grab a photo, a video for my FIL and to have a chat. Such a sweet and funny guy!!

Loved it!! We didn’t know what to expect but mining was way more fun than we thought it would be, and you really do get some great gems and rocks with your bucket. We did the $100 bucket and have so much great stuff, I forgot to take pictures of 70% of our stones. After you mine, you take the stones inside and they go over everything with you and point out all the gem stones, and tell you about additional ones that they don’t have on their ‘chart’. We got fluorite and a couple geo stones that went on the chart and were gorgeous.

I’m not sure what I was expecting. The outside of the building looks really cool. The inside where the sluices are looks like they probably have big crowds sometimes. There was hardly anyone there today.

I was never able to do this growing up, so the first time we came in 2020 my husband bought me a bucket and it was the best. This second trip, we went all out. We got the mama bear bucket and an exotic bucket and I comment believe what we found. We even decided to take some of the precious stones and get them polished, cut, and set and I cannot wait to get them in the mail. Kim helped us out today and she was so passionate and excited about her job - and she was so amazing to talk with, and we had a great afternoon with her. Thank you so much for such a great afternoon! This is such a great experience for kids of all ages!

Great experience all the way around, Annie is really knowledgeable about all the gems we mined out of our buckets. If I could give more than five stars I would . We really look forward to our next journey back down here. Thank you for making my family’s day!

My three year old daughter is an avid rock collector and loved this place. We didn’t do any panning but she picked out a sack full of colorful rocks and was thrilled.

Bought a bucket for $35 to take home to our 8 year old son to sift through and was pretty disappointed with the results fossil bucket with shells in it and no fossils but about 5 or 6 so so pieces of jasper and quite a bit of quartz pieces Dime and nickel sized and smaller he was so excited and when he was done he looked at it and asked if that was it. And asked where are the fossils at. Won't make that mistake again. We were excited ourselves to see what would be in the bucket 3 years ago we did the mine and found some really cool stuff so we thought why not should be good but it was far from it

I had so much fun when I came with my grandmother! I used to do gem mining when I was much younger and we decided to go here for the nostalgia! Brandon was super nice and helpful, he answered all of our questions and helped us with Identifying and explaining carats to us when we wanted to get gems we found cut and polished. Thank you for providing us with great service!
