Rock Island State Park is known for its cascading waterfalls, beautiful water, and breathtaking views. It is a great place for fishing, picnicking, freestyle kayaking, and day hikes. The park features some of the nicest TN State Park cabins and many clean camping sites. Hikes like the one to Twin Falls and the Blue Hole trail are a must, offering something to see with waterfalls rushing over rocks. Trails can be a little rough or have narrow paths by steep cliffs, so visitors should watch their steps. Swimmers are recommended to be weary of the dam and dangerous currents. The park is peaceful and easy to get to with ample parking. Staff are welcoming and informative. It is a wonderful, cool place for outdoors people and dogs to enjoy walking.
