Just wanted to tip my hat to a crew clearing the trees from lines on the hill behind Church Hill Middle School. I ask who was doing the job, and I was told "the Couch Crew". So, good job guys getting ahead of winter weather and for leaving things neat! Thanks

Holston Electric is and continues to be a company whose operation model is behind the times; a conservative guess would be about one hundred years behind the rest of the world. With this, comes a seriously high amount of 'making the rules up as they go' to satisfy the company needs. ..Having worked with other utility companies in the past, there is a very large difference between modern, up to date, practices and customer relations. ..Specifically, I've dealt with ( on a very frequent basis ) the three major power companies on the west coast. Holston is not close to being in the same league for power distribution guidelines nor is the company anywhere close to being on target for customer service and operating hours. ..The company is, at best, in need of upper management talent, coupled with a visit to those companies to see how the 'big boy's' conduct business. ..Conclusion; "Don't expect a hillbilly to be your brain surgeon." I'm sure this saying fits. .. perfectly.

Just received a $400 electric bill again. And I was a few days late paying it, because I never received the bill in the mail. They charged me an extra $20. For a late fee. Talked to the rude Karen manager and she refused to waive the $20 fee. Multi million dollar electric company charging families extra for no reason. This monopoly is crazy. Their prices have risen in the past few years and continue to rise. Greedy company who don't care about the community, only their own pockets. Look at their Salaries:Mark Derrick, Director:$594,100 a year.Phil Barrett, Director/Vice President:$592,800 a year.Brent Price, Director/Secretary/Treasure: $586,300 a year.David Marshall, Director:$548,600 a year.Jeff Ringley, Director/President:$488,800 a year.Jerry Horner, Director$417,300 a year.James B Sandlin, General Manager $218,578 a year.John Long, Director of Engineering $183,625 a year.Leonard Eidson, Foreman$148,753 a year.Shannon Bellamy, Director of Finance $146,540 a year.Arthur Davenport, Director of Operations.$131,577 a year.Chris Couch, Foreman$113,871 a year. And the list goes on and on with high salaries. This is where our money is going. Greedy company lining their pockets. Not helping the community. While they are out playing golf and driving around in their BMWs, you are struggling to put food on the table. These people have no morals.

Doing rolling blackouts to be trendy affecting people's lives is ridiculous. You can't tell me honestly you had better technology to support the grid in the 80s 40 years ago than now. All utility monopolies should be broken up. Go back to coal way cheaper and obviously way more reliable. In case you didn't know carbon is plant food. The higher carbon the higher oxygen in return quit relying on propoganda and pseudoscience to deny your customers power in cruel weather.

Huge thank you to the men who showed up at the Gales' house this morning in below freezing wind chill to hook our power back up. A huge tree had fallen on the line. We appreciate all of you!

Our meter was stolen in September and Holston Electric is blaming me and my husband. We are both disabled and can't even walk to where the meter is. They say we still are responsible for the cost of a new meter plus installation and state inspection. We are on a low fixed income and cannot afford the cost so therefore we've had no power since September. I am living with a family member 2-1/2 hours away, missed Thanksgiving with my family and now it looks like I'll be missing Christmas with them too. This Co. is so unwilling to work with us in any way!! Dirty, greedy way of doing business if you ask me!!

Have had no power sense 3:20 pm it is now 8:43pm.. As far as my neighbors know, it is just our road. At the end of the road everyone else has power. This is ridiculous. Alot of people's power was knocked out by the storms. But everybody else's is back on. But not if you have holston. How about people on oxygen and stuff. And how about everybody's food going bad. They charge enough for electricity they should have to reimburse people for they're groceries. Even the website is messed up. I posted this for the holston for hamblen county and it posted here.

The girl at the window didn't know the answer to my question and seemed to be irritated that she had to help customers in general. So her answer was I don't know and acted like she expected me to say ok and walk away. When I pushed her for an answer she got huffy and called someone. She didn't explain my question correctly so the answer she got did not help me. When I continued to ask her for an answer to my question she said again, "I don't know. I called Miss "X" and this is the answer she gave me." So she was pretty much telling me that she didn't know and she didn't care and she just wanted me to go away. I asked to speak to Miss "X" to find out the exact steps that I needed to follow regarding my question. She then got kind of irritated and called for someone to come up. The lady that came up answered my question and was very polite. Not sure what the first girls problem was but the attitude was uncalled for! Not very professional!

They switched my meter out yesterday to a smart meter ...This morning I woke up to no power...lol..Forgot to pay my bill, but I realized they switched it out and now they don't have to come to your residence to turn your electric off they just push a button, then they charged me another 50 dollars to turn it back on!What's the real kicker is I put a 400 dollar deposit down when I had it hooked up intially.Don't have hard times if your electric company is holston..They are horrible people,I understand I should keep up with my bill, but times have been rough for most of us.i have had service with them for over 7 years, you would think they would cut there customers a break during this time, greedy,greedy,greedy....no customer appreciation at all!
