We've lived in Knoxville for 14 years now and finally made it to Litton's recently for a family birthday. I've heard such good things about Litton's that maybe my expectations were a little too high. Our visit was on a weekday evening, and we were immediately seated at a table. Litton's has a welcoming vibe as you'd expect from a long-term, landmark restaurant, and the service was excellent. Orders were taken promptly, drinks refilled frequently, with periodic checks to make sure we didn't need anything. The food, however, was a little disappointing. I had the Thunder Road burger, which I was excited about because I'm a pimento cheese lover. The beef patty was a little tough and overcooked. I wasn't asked how I wanted my burger cooked, so not sure if it's even an option to have it cooked medium. Most disappointing though was the pimento cheese. It seemed like the kind you'd purchase in a plastic tub at the grocery store. It was cold as if it just came out of the refrigerator. I would've expected it to be at least a little melty over the beef patty. I ended up scraping most of it off. The tomatoes looked juicy and delicious, but they were super mushy as if they had been cut early in the morning & had been sitting all day. The best part, and honestly the only part I really enjoyed, was the bun. Fries were good, but nothing special. The others in my group had cheeseburgers and a chicken sandwich. Consensus was that they were OK, but nothing out of the ordinary. I've heard the desserts here are homemade & excellent, but none of us were up for them this particular night. I'm glad we finally made it to Litton's to experience it for ourselves. Not sure we'll go out of our way to visit again, unless it's for the desserts.

Moving here from out-of-town I can comment on what the locals may think is good food, USUALLY isn't. Ditto the proliferation of fast food restaurants. I do understand this being a historical landmark and most people's idea of "going down memory lane" with a place still in business. Had the prices been indicative of years' gone by, I would understand their happiness with being a patron, but the fries and burger is too greasy. I wanted to originally get fish, but since that was $10.00 over Red Lobster's price, I just went with my date's choice. The hamburger was over-sized for me, but GREAsY. Fries were ok--don't know if they were homemade or not--but I can make homemade fries at home with a $9.00 online product so... I don't think the greasy food (I read per reviews that the salad was awful) and the most positive thing I can say is that the waitress was attentive which STILL doesn't warrant their exorbitant prices. I won't be coming back! Date or no date.

My wife went to Litton's for lunch. We rarely get to Fountain City and Dawn has never been to Litton's. What a fabulous atmosphere. Great service. Wonderful hamburger and onion rings. My wife said, " best chicken sandwich I ever had." She never says things like that so it must have been good! Desert was spot on. I had the coconut cream pie. It was ok but all other food was over the top great. Thank you Litton's

Anytime you have too many incredible choices for dessert, you are in the right place! This is the quintessential old time restaurant that you dream is in your home town. They have great special but are known for their hamburgers. I ordered a cheeseburger with onion rings. It was cooked perfectly and had great flavor. The onion rings were delicious--the coating wasn't too thick. For dessert I ordered the amaretto cheesecake but I had dessert envy for the chocolate chess pie. Yum!!

Consistency seemed to be lacking. First visit we had a friendly server named David who did a great job. Burgers were good, and the sweet potato fries are also good. They don't toast the buns, so that was unexpected, and I would suggest asking for the buns being toasted. Second visit I think we had a lady server with dirty blonde hair or brunette with highlights. She basically ignored us and was talking with coworkers, so I had to expedite my own beverage. Our food also took forever, it looked like the cook staff were having too much fun. It wasn't even busy. So a little hit or miss.

If you asked me for a piece of heaven I'd give you a burger from here. Hands down my favorite restaurant in Knoxville. Never change!

On Wednesday May 1st, my two sons' surprise me with a very special birthday dinner at Litton's Restaurant. They have amazing dinner menu with home style southern cooking from old fashion comfort food flavors. I love the homemade dessert and cakes from Litton's Market made from scratch bakery. The cake slices are huge, one slice is big enough for two people, and their cheesecake was just made from heaven.

I love little places like this! Quaint, homey, and good food! I had the Litton Cheese burger platter with waffle sweet potato fries with honey mustard for dipping. Presentation was great, taste even better. Washed down with a few glasses of Dr. Pepper.

Well I hope I'm not kicked out of North Knoxville for the following review of Littons. I think Littons is good, but far from a great restaurant. It's more tradition, like a historical landmark, than a great restaurant serving great food. We ate their on a recent Friday and we each had the baked scrod with a baked potato and a side salad for lunch. The scrod was good, tasty but definitely overcooked. The baked potato was fresh and good. The salad was boring, uninteresting and mostly lettuce with some chopped up tomato ends and a few slices of cucumbers. I guess the good tomato slices are saved for the burgers. We thought the salad dressing was very good. The rolls and cornbread we received were tasteless and almost stale. We also ordered and shared a piece of dry, pretty tasteless almost no chocolate taste, chocolate cake? So to sum it up the food was good but the baked goods were pretty bad. I'm assuming the baked goods (cake and rolls) were probably defrosted and definitely not made that day. The service was good. They have very experienced servers at Littons. Overall experience probably a 3 1/2 but ill round up to a 4 because I'm just that kind of guy. I think for what we ordered Aubreys or the Chop house would have been a better choice in this North Knox area.
