As always, you can count on the absolute best culinary cuisine, outstanding service and an enjoyable environment at Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro and tonight was no exception! We took our family there tonight including our three grandchildren and the experience was exceptional! Our grand kids enjoyed their meals, the fires including the s'mores and the bubbles provided by the staff! All in all, a wonderful evening!

We enjoyed truffled Filet Mignon and sweet tea brined Pork Chop after a lovely cheese board appetizer and the Spring Sangria and an Old Fashioned. All of them could not have been better. We had a Beaulieu Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. Our server, Delanie, was attentive and friendly. For the first time we could not finish the wine or order dessert were were so completely full. A great meal with great service!

Not enough accolades to express how wonderful this place is. From the atmosphere, superb staff, amazing cocktails and exceptional food! As global fine dining lovers, this one is on our top ten list for sure!

Absolutely divine. I really have no words other than YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED and you should go at sunset. My husband I both wiped our plates clean. The pork belly, filet mignon, and doughnut bread pudding were unreal. I loved the sangria and he loved the smoke and dagger drink. Worth every penny and then some.

The bistro runs like a well-oiled machine, yet I feel like a valued guest in a most hospitable friend's home. Staff is obviously treated well because I have never had a bad interaction here and they all seem to genuinely love what they do—it is so refreshing! The food is the best. When I have out of town guests, this is easily my first suggestion. I so appreciate the talent of the chef(s) and options for dietary restrictions. I have pretty severe intolerances, yet I can always have a delightful meal that doesn't make me sick here!

We always enjoy the Dancing Bear. We enjoyed Halibut and Trout after a Smoked Trout Cake Appetizer with a Champalou Vouvray. For dessert we both had the Grand Marnier cheesecake. All of it was delightful. Our server, Sara, was attentive and helpful.

We arrived on time for our reservation, but our table was not ready, so we sat at the very cluttered bar. The bartender fired up a torch right next to me twice to make a smoked infused drink in two different cake containers. I watched sparks literally fly onto the counter below. While we waited for our drinks, the drink I ordered was not delivered correctly. After following up with a different host 20 minutes later to try and be seated, we were directed to a table that had been empty the whole time we were there. We waited at our table for a table server, for about 20 minutes more and then left. Too bad, we had heard the food was good.

Our food and drink were both outstanding! The steak was one of the best ones I've ever had, as well as the small plates we had. Cons: very loud bar printer that echoed through the restaurant

The food and service here are exceptional! This was our second time and it did not disappoint. We came in with a larger party this time and not one person had anything negative to say. Our waiter was great, attentive but not overbearing. We look forward to staying at the lodge soon and eating here again. Worth the hour drive!

We had wanted to try this place for awhile and decided to have brunch with our two teen children. What a fantastic decision. Everything was outstanding...service, food, atmosphere! My son is still talking about the sausage gravy!!

One of our best meals we have had at Dancing Bear, incredible it keeps getting better. The halibut brought back memories of how the freshly caught halibut tasted when we were in Alaska. Ian is a wonderful, dedicated server.

Fabulous menu and extensive wine and bar menu. The food was fabulous and Jack was great. He talked in depth about his recommendations and answered all our questions about everything else. Don't miss this restaurant if you're on the peaceful side of the smokies in Townsend!

Hey! I am a food critic and have eaten at the very best restaurants from one coast to the other. I take my food experiences seriously. If you are in for 5 star cuisine you must go to the Dancing Bear Appalachian Bistro. The mussel dishes are amazing, the main courses are all on point; from the duck, the trout, the filet mignon, must I go on, to the desserts. Yes, I have eaten there many times and it never disappoints! The menu changes per season so there is always something different to try. Do yourself a favor and enjoy a special meal! You will not be disappointed!!

We frequent the Dancing Bear and are locals. Have always loved the food. The lamb dish was very disappointing this time but we realize that having a very fatty piece of meat especially lamb happens. This will not prevent us from visiting the DB in the future but will not order lamb again. The other dish we ordered was a filet which was delicious.

When we arrived in the restaurant we were greeted by a less than enthusiastic host who seemed more concerned with wiping off menus than making us feel welcomed. We were seated at a cozy booth and the roaring fire was close by. Better things to come? Our server was Jack. He was one of the best servers we've ever had. Jack was a self- described “foodie” and he was very knowledgeable about every menu item. He asked if we had dietary restrictions and then was very good at making recommendations to accommodate my restrictions. We indulged in appetizer, salad, entree and split the dessert. All of our choices were delicious, perfect portions and presented beautifully. We look forward to dining there again.
