I stay here every year. Sometimes with my husband, sometimes alone. I absolutely love this place! I am glad the Gatlinburg mob don't know about Townsend, it's so much more tranquil and peaceful than the other side. I appreciate the old fashioned aesthetic of the Highland Manor and LONG MAY IT LAST. I hate modernized rooms that feel sterile and cookie- cutter, and worst of all, when they "upgrade" their bathrooms and do away with bathtubs altogether! The dreaded oversized walk in shower! I like to relax in a nice hot bath after a long hike. HM is so welcoming and charming. Awesome mountain views. Close to Cades Cove, Foothills Parkway for the best sunset drives. The fridge and microwave are a huge benefit. The pool is a decent size and has very cool retro poolside furniture which I appreciate. Staff are courteous and friendly. The rooms are spotlessly cleanParking is a breeze. We'll be back in May and can't wait. To the management: please do not change your establishment too much in the name of modernization so that it loses it's charm. Some of us LOVE that cool 70s vibe, it's getting harder and harder to find. We appreciate you very much!

After staying in Gatlinburg for years, this was a breath of fresh air, literally. We stayed on the "quiet side" driving around most of our vacation and stayed two nights at Highland Manor. What a relaxing and quiet stay we had meeting wonderful staff and guests, as well as lots of other travellers and locals. Southern charm, well kept, clean & quiet. Comfortable bed, great view of the mountains from the window & balcony, heater/air conditioner worked extremely well compared to hotel rooms. Thank you Kimberly & Wanda for a wonderful experience and stay. We will be back!Sincerely,Janet & Todd Hall

The rooms are super clean. Staff is great. Cleaning crew where there everyday and very friendly. Price is also great. And location to cades cove is perfect..my only thought are a few more breakfast choices. Beds are clean and sleepable but could be alittle softer. Otherwise i will definitely be staying here again. We recently had an excellent stay at a charming family-owned inn in Townsend, TN. The staff, including Wanda and Tim, were incredibly friendly and provided valuable recommendations. The inn was cozy, well-maintained, and tastefully decorated. The blessed atmosphere, surrounded by the beauty of the Great Smoky Mountains, offered a peaceful retreat. The entire staff was attentive and dedicated to ensuring our comfort. We highly recommend this inn for its warm hospitality and serene ambiance. We will definitely come here again!Safety: Safe and quiet.

I've stayed here 3 times over the past 10 years. great location very convenient to the park and shopping and restaurants. Great friendly staff. House keeping was a bit hit and miss this time. kept throwing away the soap and not leaving a new one. had to hunt someone down twice to get replacements. The rooms are a bit hit and miss. My 1st two times, the rooms were fine. a bit dated with some minor updates to floors, but this last time, I was a bit grossed out at the bathroom in particular (rm 201). Black mold on the base of the bathtub and tile grout so old and dirty it was mostly black. Door was damaged. just in pretty bad shape. Sink didn't drain well, kept backing up. Water pressure in shower is great but the shower head needs to be replaced. no way to modulate the flow, it was like being blasted by a fire hose. Floors in the main room look like new laminate and generally the room was comfortable, decent bed. Just needs some work. I don't recall the last two rooms I stayed in being quite this bad in the bathroom. I really do like this place overall, I just hope they get around to updating the bathrooms, particularly the floors and fixtures. they are waaay past it.

Mostly just ok. It is an older property but large and clean. Our toilet leaked constantly; there was a large crack in the dressing room sink; Strangest thing.....I had an opened brownie on the desk that I'd been eating and the cleaning crew (for some reason) decided to put it into my suitcase! B&B's are known for serving a real breakfast. This was listed as a B&B but the breakfast was lacking a B&B standard! Yuck!

Having stayed in Gatlinburg previously and not enjoyed the atmosphere on the main drag, I decided to try Townsend for a quieter experience. Highland Manor fit my budget. It’s a nicely situated property on a hill and the grounds are well maintained. It’s far enough back from the road that traffic noise is not a problem. Fellow hotel guests were quiet during the hours you’d hope them to be. My room, 206, was a nice size. Room has refrigerator, microwave and a desk for working and a two seater dining table. Mattresses in room were very firm. I’d recommend when it comes time to replace them that management select mattresses in the medium range to appeal to the majority of sleepers. This Goldilocks seeks a bed not too firm and not too soft. It wasn’t a great sleep for me with the firmness. Cleanliness: One bed had a bedspread with stains. I say soak that thing in bleach and maybe it’d be good as new. If not, replace. Toilet seat was not properly or thoroughly cleaned. Housekeeper needs to slow down and be more observant. I noticed the issue immediately. I took care of it with the cleaning wipes I always pack but I shouldn’t have had to do so. No traditional mat was provided for the floor outside the tub. A regular towel had to be used. No hand soap was in the room but the front desk provided a bar upon request. Breakfast is a simple, continental affair. Dining area has plenty of space and is pleasant. Cable tv is good. The hotel is a good option for visiting the renowned Cades Cove and smoky mountains park. I’d like to recommend stopping in the nearby Appalachian Bear Rescue store and support that noble cause. Bottom line about this hotel is that I’d stay again because I felt safe there and it had what I needed. Yes, there’s room for improvement, but I think the owners do care about the property.

I love this hotel! The room was clean and well furnished. The staff was Friendly and helpful. When a problem arose, (my fault, not theirs), they were ready to help. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Worked well for us. Basic but nice and clean. Our room was quiet but with AC and a dehumidifier running we might not have heard even noisy stuff outside. The front desk folks were super nice and helpful. They didn’t have breakfast until 8 and we wanted to be in the park well before that so we missed it.

Pleasant hotel in a great location close to park visitor's center. Rooms older but clean and well maintained.Breakfast minimal but gets ya' going. We requested a balcony room, which had lovely views of a quiet and relaxing open space with trees across the street.Wifi was not accessible in our area of the property.Lovely staff. Overall, would stay again.
