Had been in this store previously years ago and the owner was sincere and kind. I came back because he did a great job on a custom shop Les Paul of mine some time ago. I don't know if he was having a bad day, but this time he was rude and passive. It was really odd given how he was the last time I had gone in. Maybe he was overworked, but it was enough of an unpleasant interaction to keep me away from the place. Hope it's different for others, though.

Very pleased with this place took a little longer because they were in the process of moving but the set up I got back on my strat sounded phenomenal above expectations (I’m left handed) I will most definitely take it back and the rest of my guitars there.

Recently I took my grandson to Encore Music. It was his 11th birthday and he was wanting his first guitar. Juan welcomed us into his store and questioned my grandson so he could help him select one that would fit him and be at his learning level. He was extremely helpful and even printed out some sheets so my grandson could start learning how to play his new guitar. Thank you so much for your help and patience in helping us select the PERFECT guitar. We look forward to enrolling in guitar lessons this summer. I am loving the guitar.

encore music / juan is a very professional guitar tech and has very cool new/used gear and is just a cool locally owned music store ....i am a musician of 35 years and juan is a very skilled and knowlegable guitar tech...who can repair, modify, or just string and set up any guitar...the reason he is busy is because he is in demand and can only do so many per day, have patience and you will get a professionally tuned and set up instrument back...

I stopped by Encore the last week of March looking for my “first” guitar after a 10 year break from playing. First impressions of the store were good, and Juan was super welcoming when we walked in. Abilene does not have much by the way of big music stores, but Encore checks most of the boxes on what you’d expect and want in a successful venue. They carry a variety of instruments, kit, and accessories, and the staff are very knowledgeable! After some time with a couple of guitars, I settled on an Alvarez AGW77 acoustic electric. The fit and feel are awesome, and Juan did a magnificent job setting up the action. For those who don’t know why this is important; buying a guitar you can play first, gives you an idea on its feel, sound, and playability. The best part about buying from Encore vs online, is the fact these guitars are set up before going on display. What you see, feel, and hear is what you get! After a month of playing I can’t put this guitar down. Juan, thank you again for the excellent experience and top notch customer service. I will be back!They also offer lessons!
