These guys are crooks. Especially Gary or Jerry, who likes to be lazy and complacent when giving a estimate for repairs. You would think as long as they’ve been ripping people off since 1957, that they would be able to ask a few questions, check the fluid, and would be able to know whether or not the transmission can be rebuilt. But this is their “estimate” . The average rebuild cost is $4900-$5300 plus tax. I said ok even though its a bit high by ase standards. Then after pulling the transmission out he was hit by some kind epiphany that “ well the transmission can’t be rebuilt and now its gonna cost close to $7k. And since his over 50+ years in business he would have no foresight or intuition that was a high probability outcome. But since it took dropping to figure that out the $167 diagnostic fee has mutated into overgrown malignant mass of incompetence totaling almost $800.

Horrible service. Brought the transmission in to find out why the Suburban was staying in limp mode. All they could tell me was the oil was burnt and second was slipping. When I told them it was in limp after a full rebuild, all they could tell me is what their scans say. No offer to troubleshoot further, even after I told them I'd just take it somewhere else.Service: Transmission

Took my truck to them to fix a problem another transmission shop in town caused. They were not able to fix it but they definitely went above and beyond with their time and efforts to try and get it fixed. They were upfront and honest about everything from start to finish. Would highly recommend for any vehicle repairs.Services: General repairs & maintenance

I was stuck in this town, because I snapped my cv axle bolts and ripped my left inner axle boot on my 2007 cayman s, luckily these guys were willing to work on it and fix it for me the same day, even though none of them had any prior experience working on porsches.... they still did an excellent job of taking apart the necessary and repairing back to perfection with no problems, pricing is also very fair and the owner and staff are also very friendly. Bottom line i recommend them to anyone needing any transmission and or engine related repairs. Thanks again guy!! I really appreciate the work you've done!

I don't usually give reviews unless the place is exceptional. I must say Perry and the staff at National Transmission have always been great, courteous and very reasonably priced. My car is checked and fixed in no time. They will be my go to place in the future for any repairs. Thanks for the service you give.

Beware that one year warranty only covers the repair of a vehicle that can be brought back to the National shop in Abilene. National performed the rebuilding of a transmission in January of 2019. While in California the transmission failed. It was not feasible or cost effective to transport the vehicle back to Texas. The pump bushing failed and gouged the torque converter. Assessment from California repair shop is that the bushing may not have been properly installed. National is not honoring their one year warranty and is not willing to cover all or a portion of the repair cost.
