Went in after calling twice to confirm they could replace brake pads and could take a walk in. I arrived and was told they “no longer sell parts” despite having a brake bundle package that specified brake pad replacement on their website for this location. Eventually they figured it out. I explained I wanted just the brake pads but once they got my car up they refused to do anything without charging me for rotors as well due to “shop policy” which is listed nowhere, was never showed to me, and was actually only told to my husband over the phone. Never myself despite me being the one in store. I asked if they could “force” me to buy rotors if all I’m agreeing to is brake pads and they shrugged and said “not technically but we won’t do just pads if the rotors are bad too.” Which is odd seeing as they claimed not to be a parts store in the first place. Now they claimed I HAD to buy rotors for them to do anything. I asked if I buy the parts at AutoZone how much is JUST labor, I got quoted “$300+ for 2 hours”. (I paid a local shop owner $100 for 3+ hours and got the parts cheaper than they were trying to charge) I had to call my husband to speak to them for them to release the car to me as they said they wouldn’t release it to me without buying brakes and rotors because “shop policy” dictated they couldn’t release it due to the rotors. Overall, an extremely frustrating situation. I understand upselling, but when you tell a customer “we’ll build a quote and only do the work you approve” and then deny them that same work and refuse to release a personal vehicle until they buy more parts and spend $150+ on parts and $300+ on labor, that’s unethical and misleading. I got the inspection report back that my battery was testing low and needed replacement, I took it to autozone where I got it and he showed me where it was testing perfectly fine and nothing else was wrong with the car code wise. Not sure what the heck is going on at this store, but I’m disappointed it seemed like they were trying to take advantage of what they thought was a woman by herself. As soon as my husband got on the phone they told him the “shop policy” line which was the reason for the upsell. However, they never told me that the entire time I was there, and within minutes of talking to him were releasing my car to me after trying to get $500+ out of me for a simple brake pad job. Won’t be coming back here again for any type of work on my vehicle, I don’t trust that I’ll be given transparency in regard to what I really need done and what’s just them trying to take advantage.

Well I was looking for a pep boys one day in Abilene ended up at a AutoZone but I can say right next to it was a pep boys that did tires and they were fantastic also didn't buy any tires but the guy inside was knowledgeable and he helped me quite a bit I appreciate courtesy.

Upon arrival, I was greeted and treated with absolute respect. They explained everything that was wrong with my car and made sure to inform me on what needed repair. I was in the shop a little bit longer than expected; however, the quality of service and customer service was excellent.

I was able to get same day service on the brakes for my car. Service was quick and I received a full report on the brake inspection. Staff was helpful and accommodating.

The air conditioner in my truck was blowing cold but I felt it should have been blowing colder. They checked it out for free. Turns out it had a seal that was leaking causing it to be low on coolant. They fixed it. It now freezes me out so that I have to turn it down. It's going to be a cold summer. Thanks Pep Boys.
