Cannot recommend. Took vehicle in for an oil pump replacement per another mechanic. Too big a job for them. Alpine Auto said it was “probably the housing and we do two or three of these a week”. I had purchased a replacement pump at the parts store and left it in the front seat. Their reader code said low oil pressure, oil pump needs to be replaced. OK, Alpine Auto replaced the housing and oops check engine light comes back on. Oh, it is the pump. OK, please fix. A week after dropped vehicle off and not fixed. This was on Friday, asked if it could be fixed on Monday as spouse was going out of town and I wouldn’t have a vehicle. “It will be Tuesday or Wednesday” in a rude manner. Spoke to the owner, could have cared less. Friday, two weeks after I had left the vehicle still not even started to replace the oil pump. I Said, “write up a bill and I will come pick it up”. Again could have cared less. Price for little work done was fair except for $200/hr labor. Started up vehicle 17 psi oil pressure in neutral which is normal. Hopefully there won’t be any engine damage when I drive to another mechanic.

It's never fun to have vehicles troubles in West Texas. It's desolate and expensive.
I was quite sad when the water pump was leaking on my Jeep Wrangler while I was on some back roads in Big Bend National Park. I did a Google Search and Alpine Auto maintenance was the first of many local auto shops to pop up in Alpine. I had called them first thing Monday morning and they were actually able to squeeze me in early afternoon on the same day.
I was a little leery when I first got to the shop as it looked like it was just a bunch of old buildings crammed together. Don't let that fool you. These guys are amazing. They went Way Beyond what I thought they would do and replaced not only the water pump but some rotting heater and radiator hoses, a belt tensioner and also made suggestions on future maintenance that I should definitely have repaired sooner than later. They were even able to weld a broken Jerry can bracket for me.
Everybody I spoke with at this place was extremely friendly and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this shop for all your Automotive Maintenance needs.

Very helpful! Diagnosed our brake problem but since we were passing through, he would have to order parts and we couldnt stay. We gave him some $$ for his trouble. I would go back for repairs if ever in the area.

Alpine Auto charged me $200 extra for UNAPPROVED work. I approved an oil change ONLY they removed broken studs from the intermediate tail pipe. Again I approved the oil change only they saw the intermediate pipe sitting in the bed of the truck and installed it without approval from me.

Friendly service. They had what no one else had to diagnose my vehicle. I'd go back again.

Don't go near here. Their shop rate is 200 dollar an hour and they doubled the price of my parts.

After getting pushed around by multiple mechanics in the area, Drake came and looked at my van and showed me exactly what my problems were. I felt so relieved to have someone be upfront and give solid advice for how to make it back to Wisconsin with our broken van. Only complaint is they were booked out really far for service.

ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL! My husband and I were hiking in Big Bend when our truck broke down. Sixto Towing towed us to Alpine Auto Maintenance, where Wes took great care of us. He fixed the radiator hosing and more in about an hour late on a Friday- if it wasn't for him, we would have been stranded all weekend. Can't say enough good things. We were so thankful to find this place when we were in a bind.

I love my old Mazda Miata. Drake was the mechanic who helped me with the work order. Car runs much smoother and is definitely faster. Alpine Auto Maint. always does well by me. I think Wes is still around, but I didn't see him. Very happy with them.Service: General repairs & maintenance

Had a fuel leak and stopped here to try and get some help. I was told only by appointment, the earliest would be a week. Offered to pay him to just walk outside and tell me if it was safe to drive to Sonora, but he couldn't be bothered. Dismissive and Rude is the best way to describe my experience.

It would be hard to find a more helpful mechanic than Wes at Alpine Auto Maintenance, with that said, his partner or mechanic employee I'm not sure was a different story. This guy seems to model himself as a 1970's porn star, if ever there is a casting call for such a role this guy is a shoe in. Rude would be a understatement. If you find yourself at this establishment needing repair work, be sure to deal with Wes or just drive on to another shop. I
