Horrible! Paid for a Jr Suite, assumed it would be a step above. Sheets were dirty. Carpet was stained and crunchy feeling under your feet. Bathroom toilet was a kid size and the seat and lid were so worn out they looked disgusting. The sofa was so broken down that you had to roll out of it. We had the advanced warning of train noise during the night, but that wasn't bad. I think the others need to tour there rooms to see how bad they are. I would be embarrassed if my place was like this and had friends come over to stay.
Nearby activities: Big Bend National Park
Food and drinks: They have Mc Donald's, Sonic, Little Caesars for chain restaurants and some nice of the road ones but very hot and miss on when they are open.

Beautiful historic hotel. Courteous staff. Booked a jacuzzi suite, room is unique but nicely furnished.
Rooms: Jacuzzi in room suite. Separate shower and toilet.

This property is insecure as there is no 24 hour desk clerk/staff on duty after 7pm and the outside doors are not locked, leaving anyone free access to the property after hours. Individual room locks are antiquated, offering minimal security. The room was dirty, shabby and in overall poor condition. Other guests played loud music throughout the night, but with no staff on duty, we had little recourse. Close proximity to the train station and numerous train whistles made for a sleepless night. Note: Earplugs were provided in the room. In short, we would not recommend this property to anyone.

Excellent experience, especially for the price!! We enjoy staying in historic hotels and this was by far one of the best we’ve ever visited. The ambiance was wonderful, especially the lobby and courtyard which were exactly like the pics you’ll find on the website. Yes, there is an old smell, but it isn’t overly strong…it’s just what you will always have in a historic building. It seems to validate the age of the building and adds to the charm. Room was great with soft linens and an oversized comfy leather sofa. Mattress could have been softer, but it wasn’t too hard and We slept pretty well. Our fave thing was the courtyard and we enjoyed that space so much in the evening that we had our coffee there the next morning. It not only has a large working fountain, but it also has two large trees growing up from the foundation and lots of well-cared for plants and flowering shrubs. And being open-air, it also had lots of birds making it a perfect place to enjoy nature. I don’t recall his name, but the young man who checked us in was also wonderful with his friendliness and the amount of time he took with us. We will definitely stay here again if ever in the area and might even make a special trip (7 hours from home) just to stay here again.

The Holland Hotel is a beautiful hotel in downtown Alpine. We walked in to the hotel to check out the lobby and we were amazed.

I have stayed in this hotel before and I can honestly say it is a shadow of its former self. Good location and close to downtown but the front desk is almost always unmanned and the rooms are sub par. Mattress was a brick with the flatest pillows ever. My shower still had hair in it and my air conditioning made a high pitched whine while leaving an orange condesnsation stain dripping down the wall.

Just loved the history and that you brought it back to life. The courtyard the corbels everything.

I always enjoy staying at the Holland Hotel. The Holland is our first choice in hotel stays when traveling through the Big Bend area and Brewster County. We are already planning our next visit through the area and Holland Hotel stay.

Wanted to spend a night at this historic building hotel and I am glad this is the last time im here,
I work around area and spend a night once a month here in Alpine, at the same price I rather to stay at the Hotel Parker,
The room carpet looks like when this building was built, dirty, stains.
I got the Junior Jacuzzi suite,
Bathtub all dirty, hairs coming out jacuzzi holes, I wanted to relax at the jacuzzi and I had to clean it and desinfect it myself,

The historic charm is the winner here! Lovely detail throughout! Peaceful and relaxing. Yes, the trains can get loud, but I’m a train nut and specifically choose this stay because of the trains. Staff not overly friendly, but honestly that’s the only negative remark I can leave. Parking can get tricky, walking your dog for relief can get tricky. Go with an understanding of what to expect and you’ll be so immersed in its charm that you won’t mind the minor inconveniences. Highly recommend!
