I stopped into the Tractor Supply Company in Alpine, TX about 2-3 weeks ago and overall I was really impressed — especially with the manager, I believe her name was Max. She was incredibly kind and helped me navigate an allergy issue with my dog. Even though the store was extremely busy, she never rushed me or made me feel like I was a bother, which I really appreciated.
What made the experience unsettling, though, happened while I was using the pet bathing area they have set up. Because there’s no real partition between the bathing area and the back/storage area for staff, I could clearly hear what was going on behind the scenes. A young male employee was repeatedly yelling at Max in a way that was honestly disturbing. At first I thought he might be joking, because the things he was saying were so absurd — complaining about how she said hello, criticizing her tone (was her British accent confusing for him) But it quickly became clear this wasn’t joking at all.
He would leave the room and then come back moments later to start yelling again, almost like he was trying to provoke her into reacting. It was frightening to hear such a calm, patient, and kind woman being verbally torn down by someone who clearly seemed troubled. What struck me most was how composed she stayed the entire time. She never raised her voice once, despite how aggressively he was trying to get a reaction out of her.
It honestly reached a point where I considered getting someone to intervene, but I chickened out and just finished up and left. The whole situation has stuck with me. I should have gotten someone to help her. She was handling it on her own, but he seemed a little unhinged. I truly hope she’s okay, because no one deserves to be treated like that — especially someone who clearly cares about her customers and does her job with such professionalism.

I bought a lawnmower and the next day was trying to set it up to start mowing, but was having some difficulty that I could not resolve. I loaded it up and went back to the store and Mikey was able to help me with such ease and professionalism. He made a very positive outcome of what could have been a bad situation . After he fixed my problem, he made sure the mower would start before I left the store again. I frequent the Alpine store all the time and Mikey is one of your best - always friendly, always available to help. It is clear he loves his job!

The staff are always friendly and helpful. We come here to buy oUr cat and dog food. And they have a dog washing station in the back where you can wash your large dog. They are a solid 10/10

Love this store except for the older female cashier who is bossy and condescending. Everyone else is amazing and we can always find what we need.

I have visited Tractor Supply at least, 6-7 times already and it’s a great store to shop at! I once bought a pink women’s size T-shirt on my first visit to Alpine in October 2022 and now a year later, I’m a residence of Alpine! I recently visited that store a half a week ago! Just enjoy browsing in that store and the prices of their merchandise is alittle high, but not much! The store personnel are so friendly and I barely was inside the store on my most recent visit and one of the staff asked both me and my fiancé if we needed help finding something and of course we didn’t! But that’s how they are with their customers, always polite and very helpful! What more can I say? And lastly, I give this store a 5-star rating overall! They’re the best!
