We recently moved back to Alvin and I took all 3 of my pets there for routine visits and vaccines. With my oldest dog (almost 15 yrs old) they said his teeth were basically in really rough shape and suggested doing a dental cleaning. The entire estimate for cleaning, anesthesia, meds, blood work, X-rays, etc was about $1500. On the day of the surgery my husband and I were still having difficulty agreeing on tooth extraction. So we asked them if they could call us before that decision was made. They said no because they can’t stop in the middle of the procedure. I said ok, then we want to make sure that the blood work and X-rays are done first so we know exactly what we are dealing with. And to be clear, the consultation that morning was with a tech not the vet because none of the vets were actually there yet. The tech leaves the room to see if she can get an answer about our request and comes back to tell us “we will call you before any extractions”. I was under the impression that ALL diagnostics would be completed by the time they’d call me with an update with a clear assessment of my dog’s teeth. Well, I get a phone call from Dr. Hoffpauir and she says that we need to remove a few teeth but she wasn’t able to tell me the exact number. This led to more frustration between my husband and I because of the unknown. Ultimately the procedure was canceled due to this but when we picked up our dog, we found out they hadn’t done ANY of the X-rays before that call. So basically they wanted to sedate him, do the X-rays and move forward with extraction without talking to us. This is not appropriate or ethical by any means and therefore we have lost all trust with this clinic. In addition, not once did a vet actually explain to me what to expect with the procedure. When I talked to Dr. Parker at our routine visit, she didn’t go over much other than to say how important it was so I made the appointment. Today during the consultation and signing of paperwork, I expected to meet with the vet and have an opportunity to discuss the procedure in full, not just talk to a tech who didn’t seem to know much. I went along with it anyway thinking maybe that’s just how they do it here and I don’t have reason to not trust them yet. I should’ve never agreed to any of this from the beginning.

Very Happy with the service I received today for my baby Noah. I loved the fact that you have to walk in with you bby and meet with the doctor instead of dropping him off and then picking him up afterwards. Prices are very reasonable in par with other clinics. Just moved to Alvin and I'm glad I found the perfect clinic for my bby. Highly Recommend.

We want to thank the Doctors and staff of the Alvin Animal clinic for their kind, professional and compassionate care! Dr. West and Dr. Henshaw are such amazing Veterinarians and went above and beyond to assist our pup during her final moments. Vet Techs Sam and Elyse were so kind and did everything they could to ensure both our pup and us were comfortable and informed every step of the way during our pups final days. Jasmine and the other front office staff are the exact people that are perfect for greeting your clients as they walk into your facility as you can see and feel their kindness and compassion. Thank you all!!!!

Dr. Henshaw was absolutely a blessing to us. She was thorough, knowledgeable, and patient during a difficult time with our little guys cancer prognosis. She was communicative and explained all the options we had. Ultimately, when we had to make the choice to let him pass, she was compassionate and supportive. I’m so thankful for having her expertise to help guide decision making and then the comfort she provided through the very end.

Very upset with this place. Our dog Oliver has been coming here since he was little and never have they mentioned how to take care of his teeth. Now that he is older and his tooth has progressed to the point that it needs to be removed they finally recommend a teeth cleaning with removal?? What about preventative care isn’t that the point of coming yearly? Never coming back here, they don’t understand that surgery is traumatic for pet owners as no surgery is risk free. Don’t come here if you care about your animals this place just makes me so sad and I hope no one has to go through what I am going through right now with my dog. I hope the vets at this location in the future will focus more on preventative care and how to take of your dog before issues happen.Edit: The last time we were here was Nov 2022 so not sure where you got 2007…

If on a budget please look elsewhere. First time here and got many test done for my pet . I asked for proper documentation of results so that I could have a head start on getting what I needed to do as I did pay for those services. I went in Monday and still no email with results. I’ve reached out 3 times . Will never recommend this place. Please go down to a different clinic that will take care of your pets. No compassion for you or your pet unless you do in house treatment with them.

I visited alvin animal clinic to get a 2nd opinion for my dog (Beauty) after my home town vet was delaying taking the next steps to get further treatment. because they had to wait on results from a fine needle aspiration biopsy.I visited Dr. Lori on a Saturday and she did the same biopsy in house and was able to give a more definite answer immediately. It was thyroid cancer. The following Monday she had me in contact and lined up with a vet specialist to start taking the next necessary steps to get further diagnosis (scans) and treatment .Once we started treatments the specialist had called in some prescriptions for us at alvin animal clinic to help save me some money (since the specialists even know their medicine prices are much higher)And alvin got them filled and ready for pick up immediately! They also got her prednisone filled in a very timely manner when I called and needed more while waiting on treatments to start. They treated my girl as if she was there own dog. Made her feel comfortable while taking her temp or doing the biopsy. And for those wondering about prices. They are honestly pretty reasonable! I've definitely dealt with much higher priced vets that didn't show half as much effort and compassion as Alvin animal clinic.Unfortunately the tumor was so rapidly growing we only made it half way through treatments before it got the best of her. But Thanks to alvin animal clinic we atleast got more definite answers and had the opportunity to try to fight it. She was a super tough girl, and lived a happy life till her last day.R.I.P Beauty

An abdominal xray of a 75lb dog to check for an obstruction is a standard Xray. You should be able to give me a price for an Xray so that I can compare prices with other vets. Instead, you want me to bring my dog in, and charge me an office visit before you can even give me the ballpark price of what an xray for a dog of her size would run. Can you not understand that people have budgets? I understand that there are other charges involved upon examination. I'm not asking for a quote on the entire visit. I'm asking for a ballpark price for a SINGLE Xray so I can determine where to take my dog that fits my budget. If I get in your office and I can't afford the xray that i know for a fact she needs, then what? I just wasted the office visit money. It makes absolutely no sense. I will not be coming back to this vet. I miss Dr. Baker & Dr. Cline. They would have given me a ballpark price for a single xray. Seems like you just want people in for the doctors visit whether they can afford your insane prices or not.

They always treat my dog with lots of care. He's a seizure patient and they worked closely with me when we were trying to get his meds right. They always call to check on him after all appointments.
