Awesome people doing the community of Amarillo a very good service. I adopted a cat from here and they were very informative and helped me through the whole process. They have an awesome 'Foster for a Week' program where you can host a pet for a week to see of they are compatible with your living space, which was very cool. Pic provided is the cat I adopted, Handsome Boy

So difficult to actually adopt a dog from SPCA unless you have “connections.” They just let someone else adopt a dog out from under my friends, even though they had already applied.

If I could give negative stars I would. Our family had gone in there a week ago and found a small dog we all fell in love with. They stated they had to put him on the website for a week incase the owner showed up, but they would call us Saturday to let us know either way (if he was ours or if the owner came). They did not put him on there till 6 days later then claimed he was “adopted”. When we came in to fill out our adoption papers since they did NOT call us, the guy walked off and never would tell us what happened to the puppy. They were unprofessional and unorganized.

Very friendly people. I just got there too late for the puppy I wanted. They took the time to show me some other dogs

We applied to a few rescues looking for a large dog to be my ESA. I didn't get an answer back from any of them probably because we live in an apartment and I have a tiny Chihuahua. The staff at the SPCA are friendly, the facility is clean and all of the animals are well cared for. The adoption process was thorough but not super difficult. The big boy in the picture is coming home with me in a couple weeks!

The employees here are extremely unhelpful and very pretentious. You’ll have a better chance watching your grass grow before you can adopt any animal here. They seem to not want to adopt these animals out to anyone, rather keep them instead.

They are extremely unfriendly and apparently do not want to adopt out critters to good homes. They also do not have the adoptable pets fixed or vaxed until adopted out. Which means you cannot take home same day. Was told 2 weeks before you could bring animals home,so that they could get them vaxed and fixed. My husband and I both have volunteered at shelters nationwide and this is the worst place we have ever been to.

We found a little dog in five minutes. It's the sweetest dog ever and she took to us right away. The fee is very reasonable. We have to wait until July 22nd, as she has to have a chip and spay surgery. I'll go visit her when I can, until then. The people who manage the SPCA are very nice.
