I brought my son here for their HATZ program (homeschool at the zoo) and he loved it. He said he learned a lot, got to hang out with some kids, and check out the zoo. The zoo is small but the people there are super friendly.

Good day for a walk super cheap and pretty fun for those with small children and elderly family member with minimal mobility. Super cheap family of 4 was like $18. Super clean well maintained zoo. Only wish they like a small snack bar especially on a hotday or family outing

What a nice zoo❣️❣️❣️. It's a small zoo filled with healthy, happy animals, birds, and reptiles. Everyone's enclosure was clean and in good repair. The staff couldn't have been nicer to us. They were happy and cheerful. They answered our questions and shared their stories about the zoo with us.We had a marvelous time there ❣️❣️❣️❣️❣️

I’ve lived in Amarillo my entire life. I have always taken my kids to the zoo, I’m not sure I will continue. The upkeep has gone downhill, even from three months ago. There are weeds that have overgrown in the majority of the enclosures. The walkways are not cared for. It seems there’s not any pride in the representation of the zoo. I’ve read other reviews and the replies from the zoo and it’s just sad. I get the animals are rescued, that’s great. That doesn’t mean they need to live in areas that are covered in weeds. Have some pride in the appearance of the zoo. This was the saddest trip to the zoo. Do better.

I want to give a great review but our poor zoo has seen better days. I get sad every time I go. Enclosures are way too small for multiple bears and lions. The donkeys were trudging through deep mud. I know we've had a lot of rain but they looked miserable. Concessions were closed so no food or drink. The worst part was they had the bathroom doors open and I could see a man using the urinal from the lion exhibit. I don't know if we will be back. I grew up in Amarillo and honestly feel it would be better to close out than holding on to what it is now.Price for entry: $5Ticket type: Adult. Kid under 2 was free.

We always love visiting the zoo in Amarillo. It is a nice small zoo that you can get up close to the animals.

It's good for young kids, but it is very small. My daughter loved the monkeys and the camels. But I think she had more fun looking at bugs on the ground and the giftshop...and the other kids there. We had a great time, it's a good day trip. I assume most of the animals are rescues. The people working there were very kind and professional.

If I could give negative reviews I would, it was a very sad day to visit. The fact alone that I have more grass in my front yard than the zoo as a whole upset me. The enclosures seemed wayy to small for the animals inside of it. No room for most to roam and run around. The reptile room reminded me of a science classroom in small fish tanks. All that was missing were the desk and chairs. All the animals looked depressed, and some barely had food available to them. Do not recommend wasting the money to go here.

I was really excited to go to the Amarillo Zoo when I heard they had lions, tigers and bears (oh my!)We had heard from locals it wasn't a place worth visiting, so naturally, I had to see for myself.First off, it's a good place to go if you've got nothing to do. It's cheap, and there are animals to look at. I generally love zoos when they're ethical enough places. This Zoo is small. But, it's not just small, it is not well managed or kept. The animals are in small enclosures, with no form of toys or things to do. It's actually pretty sad to see them. The nicest part about the zoo was the reptile area.It clearly needs more money to provide better amenities for both animals and humans. I couldn't help feeling bad for the animals, the bear in particular seemed to be in poor condition. The water in the enclosures were very dirty. If I'm completely honest, it should be shut down and an entirely new zoo should be built with much better/larger enclosures. This was more like a fair ground petting zoo, but without the petting.I hate leaving bad reviews, but, it's the truth from my perspective.

Best, small zoo around. What's cool is that it doesn't take very long to walk the circular path and you can get very close to the animals. You can even pet the camels if they come over to you and stick their head out. They have monkeys and they have tigers and snakes and ducks in Texas Longhorns, etc.
