Pet Supplies Plus of Amarillo would get a 4 star review except for a recent experience on October 23, 2024. 4 stars because the regular retail prices are higher than Walmart for the items I regularly use. The employees had always been helpful and courteous, even carrying out my order to the car. I had a flyer received in the mail for 25% off my entire purchase. I am retired and fostering several kittens and this would save me some money. The retail price at Pet Supplies Plus is greater for the items I buy that the Walmart price, but with the 25% off, not so. I had roughly figured the total price while getting the items, and noticed that the checkout price seemed to be higher than I had figured. I looked at the 1st item on the receipt and noted to the cashier that it did not give me the 25% discount and asked that we figure out if I had received the correct discount. She was not cooperative. They helped me carry my items to the car. There, I figured the total with the 25% discount, which was much lower than on the receipt. I went back in the store and pointed this out to the clerk, suggesting that we figure it out on paper. She was lost and said that the receipt was correct giving me a nonsensical reason. I asked her if we could speak to a supervisor. She called a lady over. That person said very little and went along with the clerk. The total without the discount was $215.94. 25% x $215.94 = 161.96. 215.94 x .0825 (sales tax) = $17.81. $161.96 + $17.81 = $179.77. The total I was charged was $201.28. I did not return the items, but learned a good lesson. Always take my calculator with me if I should ever go to Pet Supplies Plus again and check the total before paying.

There are many concerning issues relating to the lack of care for animals. Take your money to another store, who cares about the welfare of the animals they sell.

Great fish great prices great staff. Good return policy as well for any corperate discrepancies that come with selling mass amounts of fish.

The employees are some of the most friendly and helpful people I've encountered out of all the pet stores I've been to. They also have a huge variety of pet toys, food, and accessories. Definitely my new favorite pet store.
