I've gone through many things in my life..... one thing remains, the kindness of others. This place holds love and kindness and gives so much. Lucy is an amazing person and has helped me get through so much without one doubt in me in my abilities. She believed me when so many others didn't. Love you all!!!

WCBC should be a great resource for victims in Brazoria County. It was a great safe haven for victims for years until Executive Director David Moore took over almost ten years ago. He has allowed the center to be a place of past glory. The shelters are neglected and repairs have not been made in years. In one shelter the floors are literally falling in. The handicap ramp is a danger to anyone that uses it and it is certainly not in compliance with with ADA regulations. The building is not up to fire code and the place is absolutely filthy. The Executive Director David Moore has not been to either shelter in years except once when he was afraid his neglect would be brought to the attention of board members. He still did very very little to make the one shelter better, but half ass repairing the floors. In one shelter there are doors that wont close properly, confidential files not secured properly, windows broken, front door previously held shut with a piece of rope and smoke detectors that don't work. Fire extinguishers that have not been serviced since 2019. if staff member try to do anything he tells them he needs to think about it and never does anything. There is no training for staff, we are forced to use training materials that are out of date and do not offer the services as advertised on the WCBC website. Our Executive Director David Moore works between two and four hours per day and goes home to allegedly work on grants. He then goes home and starts drinking and calls staff while intoxicated. He promises raises and talks to staff inappropriately when intoxicated. This is well known but swept under the rug do to fear or retribution. David Moore makes it know he is well connected in Brazoria County and that he can do as he pleases. The Shelter Director Gail Lucas falls neglects clients and falls asleep on a regular basis when in mid-mid conversation with them. When not sleeping on duty, she is watching TV in her office. She is rude to the clients she does not like and has allowed the shelter along with David Moore to fall is to disrepair. Part of the wall is falling down on the back side of the property, but this is overlooked and oh well, it not me living here attitude. It is truly ironic that the Women's Center of Brazoria County was created to protect women form domestic violence and sexual assault. The Executive Director David Moore refuses to meet with any women along because they may accuse him or sexual assault. Why would he work her then if he believes all women are predators. His behaviors are narcissistic, oppressive, abusive of staff and clients, uses intimidation and that of a person with serious alcohol issues. When he is intoxicated and drunk calling it is David Moore that is committing the sexual assault when he calls female staff and sexually harasses them by telling about his sexual preferences and that he and his wife are swingers. I could no longer take it and left this year. I stayed as long as I could to try and help the victims we served. I wish my co-workers well as they feel the same way, and hoping his rein of terror is over soon. If it continues David Moore will cost Brazoria County a safe haven for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault due to his lack of knowledge and empathy as well as his refusal to be an leader that actually cares about the job he was hired to do.
