Just a warning to anyone who leaves a review under this Petco location my girlfriend had a horrible experience at this location with cashier Aether and was dismissed by the manager when she went into the store the day after the incident happened to ask for corporate contact information. She left a review and received several like including my like that were instantly wiped clean today the same day she received this email. People need to be aware that their likes are being deleted on negative reviews to protect this locations reputation. Everyone deserves to be heard out and not silenced. Thank you for your time.

I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the customer service I received at your [store location] on March 16, 2025, at approximately 5:30 p.m., as well as my experience the following day when I returned to speak with a manager.
On March 16, I visited the store to purchase crickets and dog shampoo. Upon entering, I was not greeted by anyone. I made my way to the aquatic section and realized there were no small packaged crickets available. I went to the register area, where I found Atther assisting another customer. I waited patiently for her to finish, but she did not acknowledge my presence nor ask if I needed assistance while she continued to engage with the customer in front of me. She was conversing and laughing with the customer, completely ignoring the fact that I was waiting.
When the customer took a phone call, I saw an opportunity to ask Atther for assistance in getting the crickets I needed. However, instead of helping me, she made a gesture implying that I should wait, and when she did respond, it was in a dismissive and aggressive tone. She asked me what size and how many crickets I needed, but it was not in the same friendly manner she had used with the other customer. After a long wait, she finally gathered the crickets for me, but I was left feeling that she was deliberately trying to upset me by taking her time.
I then informed her that I still had other items to purchase, but due to the way I was being treated, I asked her if she could call someone else to assist me. Atther proceeded to call the store manager, and while I waited, I observed another customer at the register being ignored as well, despite being ready to check out. Atther continued attending to customers who were not waiting to check out, which only added to my frustration.
When the store manager arrived, I explained the situation and received an apology, but I was left with a lingering feeling of discomfort regarding the unprofessional behavior I had experienced. It was unclear to me whether I was treated this way because of my race or gender identity, but the entire experience left me upset and confused.
I returned to the store on March 17, 2025, at approximately 4:20 p.m., hoping to speak with a manager and request corporate contact information to file a formal complaint. However, the manager I spoke with was dismissive and defensive, leaving me feeling as though I was being blamed for the incident. I left the store feeling as though my concerns were not being taken seriously.
I expect better treatment and respect as a customer, and I hope Petco takes this matter seriously. I am requesting a formal apology for the way I was treated and that steps be taken to ensure that all customers receive fair and equal treatment, regardless of race or gender identity.

I took my little dog here to get a mini-make-rover, which I’ve been doing for years now. There was a new manager in the grooming department named Rihanna (sp?) she was so awesome with him! I could tell that she really has an affinity for for our babies. She went above and beyond! It was the best mini-groom he ever got there! And I already prefer petco to petsmart. All the ladies there were so good and I could tell they were happy to be there. Thank you for making that experience so wonderful for my little dude! He looks so fabulous!

The person who checked my out wasn't wearing a name tag, but my receipt says Brian. Kinda long dark hair. I walked up to the register, wasn't greeted. I said hello, I got nothing. I was carrying kitty litter, usually pretty heavy, and put everything in the counter. He then seemed to wait for me to turn everything to him and hold up the barcode so he could scan it. Still didn't say anything. Then finally says my total. Doesn't touch my items ONE TIME. No bag, no offer for a bag, even as I am carrying kitty litter and loose items out of the store in my arms. I was going to ask for a bag, but since I didn't get a response any other time, it seemed pointless. Also, the layout of this store is an absolute mess.

December 12, 2024 –
Tyson was scheduled for a routine haircut on December 16, 2024. An employee of PetCo named Tracy, called me and said something along the lines of, “It looks like the last time you dropped off Tyson, you had some issues.” I asked her, “What do you mean I had issues?” She said, “Are you aware of what issues I am referring to?” I was so confused about her leading questions and did not understand the intent of this call. I said, “Yes, we did have an issue with one of your groomers last time.” She said, “Do you remember what the issue was specifically?” Confused, I reminded her that the last time I dropped Tyson off for the same haircut that he has received in the last 5 years there, his whole haircut was botched and no one communicated with me. That was the issue that happened last time since she did not seem to recall it and needed me to say it. Then she proceeded to say she did not think that her groomers can satisfy me and my needs moving forward and that she was going to have to refer me to a different sister location of PetCo. I told her, I do not need a referral to any other locations and this location is the one that is most convenient for me. She stated something along the lines of, “We are not confident that we can do the job you need us to do for you.” She basically kept insinuating that based from “my experience” she meant THEIR mistake from the last haircut, they will not be able to service my dog any longer. I asked for the manager and she told me she was the manager. She did not listen to any of my wants or concerns and continued to say those few lines of “we are not confident”, “we can refer you to our sister location”, “we are sorry”. I asked her for clarification, “You are refusing my business based from YOUR employee’s fault from last time, correct? YOUR employee did not follow his chart and did not communicate with me and decided to take it upon herself to cut him up however she wanted to without confirming with me.” She did not comment on anything I said and proceeded to ask which sister location I would like a referral to. I declined a referral and told her I would be taking my business elsewhere. The anger and hurt I felt from this experience with PetCo is unexplainable. THEY messed up my dog’s haircut and now THEY are refusing to service me. If this is about being afraid to be liable in future cases because they chose to hire inadequate and incompetent groomers, SAY THAT. Do not blame ME for PetCo’s groomer’s mistakes. Now, we must rush and find another grooming service as soon as we can and help my dog build new rapport with the new groomer again. I am highly disappointed in PetCo. I have been a loyal customer and this is how we are treated.
Do NOT take your animals to get groomed at PetCo on Green Oaks Blvd in Arlington, TX. If you have a problem and voice it, they will gaslight you and then proceed to terminate your business.

I just want to put a BIG shout out for Seth and his care of your birds. Because of Seth, your parrakeet's environment is always exceptionally clean & your keets are always so happy. That is the reason that I know that if I come to your store to purchase a keet, I am getting one that has been lovingly. cared for. That is not always the case at other Petcos. Seth is a keeper!!!

I’ve worked in pet retail most of my life and it makes me so mad when I see bugs that don’t have any water cubes or food I’m the containers. They assume when they get them they’ll sell fast enough that it won’t matter. But it does? They feed the crickets daily if not weekly. So Shouldn’t u also feed the dubias or the hissing roaches especially because they are in such a small space for so long. It’s just inhumane. Even if u have to open the container and break the plastic seal. Please do it. I’ve rescued like 3-4 hissing roaches im the past 5 yrs. All from Petco and all with the same problems. They let them rot with a tiny sponge for food and water. It’s so easy to do it. I’m going back soon and buying the rest of the hissing roaches in stock because I’m tired of seeing it.
