They sold me a birthday cake stuffed with paper. They were rude about the return. They ruined what should have been a simple birthday. Horrible.

Tom thumb on Fielder road in Arlington Texas. I'd show a pick of our St. Louis short ribs but we ate all of it quickly. The man that makes these ribs and the rotisserie chicken is the best cook by far for a store. He's better than Costco, Sam's club and the road side bbq in my opinion. A whole slab smoked with a side for $10 w/t $11.60. Moye delicious. We got this today, Saturday at 130pm.

My husband bought a gift card at Tom Thumb and, without realizing it, he dropped it in the parking lot. After he got home, he realized he lost the card. We called Tom Thumb Customer Service to ask if someone had turned it in. Turns out, one of the managers found it in the parking lot and turned it in. We still had the receipt and we’re able to get it back.
We appreciate the honesty of the Tom Thumb employees!

This isn't my typical go to grocery store, bit I work nearby and make stops fairly often. First thing I will mention, they are GREAT about gathering the baskets from the parking lot. A lot of grocery stores have had trouble with this, being short staffed, but this location is on top of things. I also tend to stop here during green chile season, as they have roasting weekends and I can get a case already fired. It is so convenient and the employees here are always helpful and friendly. The layout is a bit different than other Tom Thumbs I am used to, but they do a good job keeping it organized and clean. Tom Thumb does great sales, but are more expensive with their regular prices, but I will keep popping in.

Placed an online order at 9 am for 2 pm pickup. I was notified that the order was running late at 3pm. At 6 pm I hadn’t heard back so I called the store. They acted like I was nuts and said my order had been ready for hours. We will have take out tonight as dinner is still at Tom Thumb. Lesson learned. Next time I call them on the regular to check my order status. Ridiculous bad service.

I'm a fan of Tom Thumb, always have been. I feel like the customer service is always great no matter the location, and this spot is no exception. The dude at the register was kind and efficient and they actually have several lanes open so you're not waiting forever in line. This store is nice and clean inside. I like the prepared food section and all the different cheeses. They also have plenty of gluten free items noted throughout the store. I think it's a pleasant shopping experience, never too crowded and staff to help you out if needed. I've never had a problem here!

Danger. Danger. Danger. These guys could care less about your safety. Take a look at the inspection for the fire extinguisher at pump #7. Dated Jan 2017 on last inspection. Today's date it 10/29/2018.

I ordered a cake for my daughters birthday from the bakery and it looks like I made it myself. Not to mention the name is spelled wrong on the cake but correct on the receipt. So I know there was no miscommunication on my part. I will never order from them again. I gave 2 stars because it was ready on time.

Pluses - the people are really nice, and helpful. Most of them know how to ask if you need help, but occasionally one will just stare at you while you are obviously looking for something. On the whole, the front line folks are great, though, and butcher shop, deli and bakery are particularly helpful. They make great recommendations, and most of the time it saves money. Meat is usually pretty good, and staff will tell you what to avoid if it isn't. That's good service. The same thing happens in the deli. Downsides - Corporate culture, corporate culture, corporate culture. Don't have sale or free items in stock. On their recent Monopoly promotion, none of the "prize" items were in stock for over a month, and no effort was made to offer a rain check or do anything other than "check back later" Many times, things in Just for U are either not in stock, or in some cases, not carried at all. In the things they promote for "great savings," they don't have any in store. Prices are about 25% higher than other stores unless they are promos in Just for U or the weekly sale flyer. In some cases, Tom Thumb regular price is almost 40% more than it is at other stores. Their answer is "we try to provide better service" but there's often no front end help, no one to bag groceries or offer carry out, and no one to assist customers who might require additional help. Produce quality varies - sometimes it's great, sometimes, like last week, you get home and the bottom half of fruit (and mushrooms) that you purchased are rotting on day two. Shelves often look like the store is going out of business. This store can't be as busy as that, because the reason they give for not carrying some things is that there isn't enough demand. When I've looked after truck days, they aren't deep in much of anything unless it's paid placement Frito Lay or other major brand. If you can't shop before 7:30 or 8:00 in the evening, you are out of luck most nights on single item bakery goods and some other stuff. They also have great prices on some things, but you "must buy 5" If you are a single person, there's no way to make the stuff last at that quantity, and you probably don't need that many of them any way. It seems designed to encourage waste and tossing out of food, which seems inherently evil. So, if you want to see nice employees, occasionally find a good deal, generally pay more, and be frustrated by the lack of stock, this is a great store. The big plus is that I have found I can really rely on the deli, bakery, and butcher staff to steer me in the right direction, and that is something I do _not_ find elsewhere. Tom Thumb was a great store at one time - each subsequent sale has knocked it down a bit, and it's biggest advantage as a market now is that it's close to me. I appreciate that the employees still do a great job in spite of having management that stacks the deck against them.
