Weems & Stephens is the best equine vet hospital around. If your horse is sick or wounded, skip your general vet and just take it to Weems. You'll often spend a lot of money on a vet that isn't specialized before getting to the real issue and solving it with an equine vet at Weems. Are they super cheap? No, but their prices are fair. People come from all over the world to intern and learn from the vets at Weems. If you don't want to monkey around with a vet that sees dogs more than they see horses, take your horse to Weems. Dr. Westin is awesome, by the way. She is kind, caring, and pleasant to work with. Love Dr. Cole, too.

I would highly recommend Weems and Stephens Equine Hospital to anyone who needs care for their horses or other equines. I took my donkey, Mikey, to the hospital after he suffered a laceration on his leg. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they took great care of Mikey. They were able to clean and suture the wound, and they also gave him pain medication and antibiotics. Mikey made a full recovery thanks to the excellent care he received at Weems and Stephens.I was particularly impressed by the knowledge and experience of the doctors and staff. They were able to diagnose Mikey's injury quickly and accurately, and they explained everything to me in a way that I could understand. I also appreciated their willingness to answer all of my questions. In addition to their excellent care, Weems and Stephens Equine Hospital also has top-notch facilities. The hospital is clean and well-maintained, and the stalls are spacious and comfortable. I felt confident that Mikey was in good hands while he was at the hospital.Overall, I had a very positive experience at Weems and Stephens Equine Hospital. I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone who needs care for their equine companion. Here are some specific things that I appreciated about my experience at Weems and Stephens Equine Hospital:The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and compassionate. The doctors were thorough and explained everything in a way that I could understand. The facilities were clean and well-maintained.The price was reasonable.I would definitely recommend Weems and Stephens Equine Hospital to anyone who needs care for their equine companion

I can’t say enough nice things about this establishment. They are honest and do not do unnecessary treatments for monetary gain. I trust them with all of our horses! They saved the life of a few of our horses. Highly recommend!

I can't say enough good things about this equine hospital. I had an emergency with my 21 year old gelding last week that was absolutely terrifying. He was hit by a stray bullet in the leg while grazing in his pasture. Dr. Westin and her staff were beyond amazing and accomodating, despite me being emotional. My vet I have been using for over 15 years recently stopped practicing, so I was scared to try to find a new vet to entrust my boy's care to. Dr. Westin and her team were there for us and I felt SO comfortable leaving him there for hospitalization! Dr. Westin removed the bullet and made sure my boy was comfortable. She was very thorough with his care and exam and was also very communicative on his status while he was staying in-hospital. Dr. Westin is stuck with us as clients now!! THANK YOU so much to Dr. Westin and her amazing team for taking such great care of my sweet boy.

Negligence towards the animals that are put in their care before and after any procedure is done. Will not communicate clearly or won’t communicate at all about your animals wellbeing. Fail to give me updates and sometimes I felt like the just flat refuse to do so also. This is suppose to be a safe place for all animals from every aspect of life, but the staff chose to not be educating and nurturing theirselves. If I were you don’t send your animals here for that lack of integrity and ethnics.

We had to put our horse to sleep today. And the staff made this tough and hard moment a lot easier for us and our family. It was our first time going through this so we are grateful for the entire staff! They were really thoughtful and gave us a moment to say our last goodbyes before we had to put her to sleep. So again thank you! We will continue to recommend and for sure have you in mind for anything else.

Took our family horse here & he left worse off than when we first brought him. Incompetent rude staff, & seeing how they have serviced other animals, resulting in multiple fatalities. I wouldn’t trust this business with any of my beloved pets.

Unprofessional, incompetent, and wildly negligent. Your baby will be returned to you in worst condition than they arrived (if they’re alive at all).

HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING ELSEWHERE - I was very, very disappointed with my experience with Weems & Stephens. At the end of July, I brought my elderly gelding, who was suddenly presenting neurologic, to Weems & Stephens. From the moment we arrived, Dr. Scaramuzza had a very negative outlook on Mystic's situation and was suggesting that I take him elsewhere despite the fact he was having a difficult time walking and was not in a condition to be transported. After much resiagree to give him IV meds and manage him overnight until he could be taken to Texas A&M the following day. After a month of treatment at Texas A&M and Brazos Valley Equine Hospital, I had to euthanize my horse and returned home to find that my other lifelong horse had lost a very concerning amount of weight during my absence. Unable to handle another huge loss, I called Weems & Stephens, hoping that one of the other clinicians would be on call and could see Willow. Dr. Scaramuzza answered the phone and informed me that I was not to bring any more horses to the practice. I ended up driving 3.5 hours to take Willow down to Brazos Valley Equine Hospital and also had to euthanize her at Texas A&M after two weeks of hospitalization at Brazos Valley Equine Hospital. When I brought my concerns to the attention of the practice, Christopher Thomas gave an insincere apology and made excuses for the clinician, and when I told him that the excuses were not satisfactory, he went off and sent the email that I am attaching a screenshot of. In said email, he spoke of the situation as if he had been there and experienced it first hand, dismissing everything I had said as a lie. He reiterated that the practice would not see my horses, who were already deceased, which was simply ironic, as I had already made it clear that I would not trust them with an animal and would recommend that others ought not to as well. He went on, griping about an invoice that had already been paid in full - No thanks to their online portal for which I had to order a replacement debit card and still could not satisfy. I honestly was shocked by the audacity of this email because I was simply bringing my concerns to the attention of the practice and did not stand to gain anything from the interaction. Feedback is important and should be considered with a goal of overall improvement, and Christopher was not understanding of that concept. I never once asked him to share the details of how he planned to make said improvements. I simply responded that I was disappointed with his response that made excuses and failed to acknowledge the issue at hand. At that point, no further conversation was necessary or appropriate. They were paid, and I stated that I would not be a client in the future. Next thing I know, Christopher sent the email included in the attached image. In retrospect, Christopher's conduct put Dr. Scaramuzza's behavior into context. It was not an issue of one veterinarian having an attitude problem, but rather, it really seems to be an issue with negativity within the culture of the practice. I can say that I am glad these individuals demonstrated this behavior when they did, but I do want to caution others, as my experience was not satisfactory.

A horse recently went in for a routine procedure. They walked in healthy and when owners returned for pick up, the horse was now DEAD. I can’t believe an establishment would let such a horrible thing happen! This establishment needs to be investigated!! They have surveillance cameras but won’t show owners exactly what happened! I hope the owners receive justice!!! POC please DO NOT bring your animals here!

Bringing racism into the care for other animals is sick and twisted. That horse BLM was innocent in all of this, horrible that they “lost” the footage to care for this horse and now its dead! Keep our human issues out of other innocent creatures lives. SHAME!

I came to my appointment for my horse about 15 minutes early and seen the door was cracked, so i let myself in. Only to walk in and see two employees abusing a poor defenseless animal… i will never ever return. I am still in shock.
