We just had the best experience at Dixie Dude Ranch. The highlight- other than the great time my friends and I had together- were the staff of this ranch. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Specifically, Kathryn went above and beyond helping us with a wedding ceremony on site. She made the bouquet for the bride! She made sure there was something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue! So awesome! Rick was also awesome, there to help us set everything up and tear down. Loved the weekend! Thank you!

What an experience… Cowboys Jacob and Zack chatting away, telling us stories of life out on a ranch made it for us… could listen to them chat away all day… we stayed for a week and took in all it had to offer - the ranch typical day is breakfast, horse ride, lunch, relax or head out to town for one of the experiences (tubing down the river is great fun), or another ride… dinner, then some cowboy related entertainment … our family of 5 from 13 to 48 loved it…

The ranch is filled with wonderful staff, fun activities and beautiful horses. I highly recommend visiting! We brought three young kids and they loved it.

If you ever dreamt of being a cowboy for a few days, the Dixie Dude Ranch is without doubt the place to go.
This fifth generation family run 722 acre ranch, is truly authentic and has been hosting guests since 1937. From the Texan style rooms, the local dishes served at meal times, and most importantly the horse riding, the entire three day experience exceeded our expectations.
Meal times are fixed at 8.00am, 12.30pm and 6.00pm.Dining is communal at bench tables. The food was plentiful and tasty, particularly the Chicken fried steak.
There’s entertainment every night, which included a local C&W group and a well known Cowboy who does rope tricks.
Everyone on the ranch goes out of their way to make your stay both memorable and enjoyable. Special mentions to Alec, who is one of the Family members, Kathleen on reception, and Zac, one of the cowboys, who looked after us on the horse rides.
There is the opportunity to ride twice a day, if you want, with rides typically lasting 45 to 50 minutes.
I was concerned about how I’d manage on a horse, not having ridden one since my teens. The ranch hands asked about your riding ability and then matched you to an appropriate horse. There were four year old kids happily riding, which gave me confidence.
The personal highlight for me was on my birthday, which coincided with breakfast at the summit of a nearby hill. This involved a fifteen minute ride up the hill to breakfast. We were provided with a cooked breakfast, with breathtaking views over the ranch and the surrounding countryside. This was followed by a one and a half hour ride afterwards.
The ranch also has an outdoor pool, jacuzzi and a small play area for kids.
Top Tips: Bring mosquito spray, as they’re everywhere. Shower gel, as it’s not provided. Beer, as they don’t sell it on the ranch, although they do possess an ice machine.
Would I recommend The Dixie Dude Ranch. Absolutely. I’ll definitely be returning again in the near future.

If we could give it more than five stars we would! The owner, staff, Wranglers, and fellow Ranch guests made this birthday celebration for our daughter one to remember for sure! This place is heaven on Earth for horse and animal lovers. Wish we were closer because we would come back again in for longer next time!

While the majority of our visit was good, there were problems that visitors should be aware of. The rooms were extremely rustic, a little t ty oo rustic with few plugs for modern items. But I think they are forcing you to go without them. However, when the equipment involves my health then it’s a problem. Second, the wranglers for the most part are excellent. The lead one is rude and does not care about visitors. I was put on a horse with serious safety issues so bad I did not ride. Finally, don’t trust your quoted prices. I received a bill more than twice what I expected. And they quilted me into paying their amount by threatening to fire the friendly very nice lady who sent me the amount. If you go, watch yourself carefully!

This was one of the best holiday experiences I’ve ever had. Spent 3 nights there and will 100% go back. Food is amazing. It’s mentally calming. Scenery is stunning. Everyone should go to there!!!

The experience was overall a 7 out of 10. My 2 night stay was very comfortable . The cabin was clean and AC was on point . The food was excellent… The horse ride was exciting I felt safe and comfortable with the helpful cowboy staff. The discomfort was the entertainment which included a man popping a whip while giving false history of the whip. This caused me to leave his show… the surprising looks from most of the guests when I walked in to dinner . Also, a staff member advising me not to go to town because, “I came on vacation and could go back on probation “. Bye-the-Way, I’m Black. #Texascountrygirl

Dixie Dude Ranch was fabulous from the first welcoming ‘howdy’ to last ‘ya’ll come back’. Every detail is thought of and I can say you will not go home hungry! There are animals to pet, trail rides, hikes, fishing, swimming, hay rides, exploring, and so much to do. We hiked up to the buzzard cave and saw baby buzzards! Everyone is so kind! The accommodations are great and we enjoyed family style dining so we could get to know other folks on the ranch! We look forward to coming again!

Took family, 12 in all. Included 6 kids ages 14 to 8. Adults and kids had a great experience. Staff accommodated all of us on the trail rides. The self guided hikes were challenging but fun. The food was great.

The staff were excellent however the rooms need serious updating. The sink was rusted the bathtub had a hole in it and the couch looked like it was used at a saloon 100 years ago. The pool was green and the kiddie pool was scary looking, not sure what was living in there. I was thinking for the price it could have been nicer.
