December 15, 2020, I made the mistake of visiting this location. Though I do not regularly shop there, this visit, like all others in my experience, was boldly subpar. My usual concern is the lack of light & cleanliness. This visit, however was substandard due to the haste and disrespect experienced from a worker, who voluntarily availed himself of my business, at checkout. I used self checkout, since there was only one cashier line open. One of the items I scanned, was not the price I'd anticipated based on my review of the pricing on the shelf. Since it was an alcohol product, my scanning it alerted a male, whom I assume to be the manager on duty but cannot verify, to come to the checkout station. I mentioned my concern. He offered to go check the price. When he returned, I thanked him. It was not even, 5 seconds contemplation, and he snarked, "Do you want it or not?" Head tilt. Unwelcoming look of exhaustion. I asked him whether he saw the specific price I noted & he again, made a flippant snark: "The price is below the product...when you're shopping the price is located...." His disrespectful brash, hurried tone & pulsating demeanor was unnecessary - especially since I had not engaged him, nor had I treated him or anyone in that store in a way that warranted his brutish temperament. I tuned him out. He was young enough to be my child, petite, impatiently & visibly hyper. Though I'm cordial, I was not in the mood to be disrespected, before paying money that contributed to his pay, taken from my own. His demeanor was childish, inappropriate, abrasive, & unprofessional. If not for the current temperature of society it might have been funny, since he was unreasonably "extra", sassy, & attitudinal. But people in general, are tired, on thin reserve, and afraid with the current ways of the world. The last thing a grown person needs is a young person who is apparently too trough with the world to be bothered with a 5 second consideration of some customer. This store should review & reconsider this youngster's training, to better align his behavior with situational appropriateness; Or at least let him do commercials for them.

My husband I went shopping there today and took our left over change. We purchased gatorade and went through the check the cashier Kendra was great and very helpful and helped us count our change but then the manager a Arab looking guy or India or maybe spanish looking came over to the cashier and started to yell at her in front of us and said to not count out our money as we both said to wait so we could pay for our groceries. He gave us dirty looks he seemed very homophobic and very disrespectful to us as customers and his employee who was embarrassed by the whole situation. We feel that if a managers going to be rude and homophobic and rude to employees the manager should be terminated Immediately and the change anyone has should be accept as payment no matter what the case is even in light of any crises. And the change should be acceptable at the customer service counter in all stores because the change counting machines are a rip off because of the stupid fees they want people to pay.

I know this is not the time to be putting a rating on yelp because of the Coronavirus, but I finally got out to shop at a store. We initially were heading to HEB but opted to try and see if they had stuff here and not go into the big crowds at HEB. It was our first time EVER in this Randall's. My husband and I looked for coffee and couldn't find it. I asked a stocker on isle 3. I remember because I asked "sir where's the coffee?" He said Aisle 3. I've never been here I said that way or this way? With a smile. He said the one with a BIG 3. He was not a nice man. I will never go here again. Hence I see the ratings on Yelp why it's rated a 2. Never again.

At the start of July 2019, I had some issues with this store (which I included on my store survey). In short, the family packs of meat I purchased at the time were apparently not wrapped correctly. While the cashier noticed one was leaking as she went to bag it (and wrapped it in extra plastic bags), she did not wrap the other - which apparently was also leaking. Thus, I ended up with bloody water all over my paper bags, my trunk and all over the placeAlthough I requested contact about the issue, no one from this store ever contacted me. You would think with a massive, new HEB right across the street that this location would care more about the customers it still has. Apparently, this is not the case.Because of this, although the Bellaire location is closer to me, I bypassed it and went to the Randalls at 5587 Weslayan, Houston, TX (Store 4033). Among the items I purchased was an impulse purchase of a king sized package of Reese's Sticks during check out. Though I am usually careful to check the expiration date - especially on perishable and grocery items, I neglected to do so on this quick, spur of the moment addition.Getting in my car and starting back home, I ate 2 of the sticks. It was only as I was about to fold the package closed that I noticed the BB date was 11 2018....as in 9 months ago! I was horrified. However, as I was well on my way by the time this happened, I stopped at the Randalls I was two blocks away from at the time to return the Sticks (as opposed to going all the way back to the Weslayan store). As the customer service desk was still closed for another few minutes, I opted to grab another Reese's Stick pack to make an exchange. Only this time the BB date was even longer ago....as in 8/2018! Yes, a YEAR AGO.I was in utter disbelief! I had originally assumed that this was an issue at one store but apparently it's not - perhaps it is even systemic. Going to the customer service desk, I asked to speak with the store manager. I ended up speaking with Lucelly (I'm assuming that was her name as that's the name on my refund receipt). While she was very nice and apologetic, she stated that they have people who go through the candy, etc to make sure this doesn't happen and that, in essence, that this was some kind of fluke. I led her to where I found the 8/2018 bar, and in the same box, there were more of the same. We even found one with a BB date of 3/2018! Yes, a BB date almost a year and a half ago! The manager was flustered and embarrassed as she pulled the box of candy from the shelf and led me to a register to issue my refund (though she tried to sell me on getting something else instead - which, I obviously declined). I advised that they check the rest of the candy at all of the check stands (which she said she would do). She also said she hoped I wouldn't get sick from the sticks I had unwittingly eaten. I said I hoped the same.Needless to say, I am thoroughly flabbergasted and disgusted by this entire incident. I do not knowingly buy or eat items that are past their Best Buy, Sell Buy or Expiration Dates. That Randalls is so careless and lacking in their quality control as to leave items that are so excruciatingly past the date of their utmost quality (as recommended by the manufacturer) boggles my mind.I am posting this information as both a warning to shoppers and in hope that Randalls will take customer health, safety and product quality much more seriously in the future.Other Yelp users have noted issues with expired/unsafe food at these stores as well:* Molded Meat and expired items on shelves: * Many items past Best Buy Date: * Lots of Expired Items on Sale:

The only reason I keep going back to this Randalls is to use their pharmacy. The two exceptional pharmacists have been working there for years and they are always friendly and efficient. The quality of food in the grocery part of the store, which is most of the store, has been going downhill for over a year - especially noticeable in the past few months. I have to check the expiration dates on EVERY item. It's bad when salad dressing or canned goods on the shelf are expired. The last straw was finding a package of meat covered in mold. I handed it to the butcher and he shrugged and put it aside. Actually, the last straw was at the checkout line when Elaine R, the bagger, yelled at a woman for not paying - when she actually just paid for her groceries. How rude! It is so sad - this store manager is not really present and everything feels like it is on it's way out.

I used to love coming to this Randall's for their great sales but one cashier named Daniel with a terrible attitude changed my mind about this location. Tried using their coupons through the app but it wouldn't honor any of them. He was quick to say the manager had no interest in honoring them either so I shouldn't even try to talk to the manager. The sales prices were advertised everywhere so I don't know why they wouldn't honor them. I ended up leaving frustrated because I didn't get anything I came for.

Randall's has yet to wake up to the fact that gourmet freshly made coffee served well could attract clients. We walked in to get a cupa coffee in our way to a meeting. After dodging a couple of bums in the parking lot we found our way to the coffee station. The coffee canister was behind the counter and there was no body manning the counter. After repeated requests one of the staff showed up and poured me a cup of stale coffee. There wasn't any milk or half and half either. We tasted the coffee and promptly dumped it on our way out. The price : $1.75.Lesson learnt : Skip the coffee at Randalls

The new HEB across the street has sadly drawn away most of the customers and now the store is short of workers and fresh food. The parking lot is almost always empty. Hopefully Randalls will be able to ride out the newness of HEB and make it through.
