Russ Pitman Park is a great local nature park with peaceful trails through the forest. It is a very enjoyable place for a walk to see flowers, birds, bees, butterflies, lizards, and other wildlife. The park has everything for young kids, including a great toddler playground with a sandbox, right next to the parking lot for easy access. The area is pretty well shaded by many trees. There is a discovery center and a "critter classroom" with several enclosures for a closer look at animals like tortoises, rabbits, pigeons, and an opossum. The park has picnic areas, bathrooms, and parking on both ends. Their best event is the Pumpkin Patch Fall Festival in mid-October. It is a nice place for pictures, to relax, and for families to play.
What an enjoyable walk through nature. There are many different directions to go, and lots of bees, butterflies, lizards, and other wildlife. It was so peaceful. I just leisurely walked through and enjoyed seeing the various flowers and birds.

I used to play here as a child.. I’m 40 years old now, I would have never thought I’d be bringing my own two toddler nephews here to play as well..
